I applied for expedited interview at the Abuja embassy 2 weeks ago but haven't received a reply yet. How long does it take to receive an answer? School starts in 3 weeks.

Can someone please share his/her experience πŸ™πŸ½. I need this to know if I should defer my admission or wait a bit.

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I've begun my admission process by submitting my application, and I'll be completing my WES evaluation by the end of next week. I have a question: once I'm admitted, do I need to have funding for the entire two years, or is funding for the first session sufficient as proof of funds? Also I’m currently working as a software developer and I’m going for masters in information systems, what are the odds? Thanks

Based on experience, I would advise you to defer your admission now. You have two options:
Defer and proceed to the embassy at a later date, closer to the deferred admission date, to get your visa and make travel plans.
Get your visa first and then defer. You will receive a new I-20 after deferring, and your visa will still be valid. Just ensure you have both I-20s when traveling. Best of luck!

Funding depends on the department and conditions. During my time in 2017, I received funding for the academic year or session (i.e. both semesters, 1st and 2nd), which was renewed the following year, totaling 4 semesters or two full academic sessions over 2 years. However, I had colleagues who only received funding for semester 1 and nothing in semester 2, and this seemed to fluctuate. It depends on departmental funding and availability. This information will be indicated on your I-20 on a semester basis, and the comments section of the I-20 can state that funding is provided for 2 academic sessions. This can greatly help in convincing visa officers at times.
πŸ˜‰. Good luck

Please if I move my SEVIS Fee payment to another school which I'm going to interview with. Do I need to inform the previous school which I was refused with about my decision of going with another school.
Not necessary, you do not have to inform them. Just go along with the new SEVIS fee receipt
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Leftrightcenter(m): 4:58am On Aug 10, 2023
In as much as you needed to have funding for the first year only(especially to obtain 1-20 from your school), have a backup plan of how you intend to fund your second year in case you're asked such question by the VO. Also, if you receive funding from your school ensure to know if it is for one semester, first year or both first and second year.
For the second question, I think both fields are related(I have limited knowledge on that though).

I think you would need to or maybe fill another another one(since some information you filled in the previous DS-160 may differ with the updated 1-20)

Hi guys.
Please I need your input here.
So my sis recently got a refusal, and according to her, she mentioned half of the funds on the I-20 when asked about savings as that's what she had a hard copy proof of and the VO said she had to show all before handing over the blue paper and advising to reapply if circumstances changes.
The thing is she actually had the entire funds but in a separate fixed deposit account cos she thought she didn't need to show all that, so now that question is how do we prove to the VO that the lump sum had been available all the while?

And also, is it advisable to reapply after the 3 working days they like they said? (if she can get a date)
Or just defer and try getting it right next spring session?

Look forward to any helpful response to this.
Thanks.
