That kind of hallway can be found in top-tier private universities in Nigeria - Covenant, Atiku's university in Yola, ABUAD, Baze etc. However, the Nigerian passport does not confer unrestricted access on her holders to the US labour market. That is the difference.

Most people are just hating on him because he found an easy, STRAIGHTFORWARD and affordable means to get to the US. The demon above me is envious his touts in Brazil don't have the same opportunity rather than going through the Darien Gap. Let those buffons get the same opportunity as Tensa20 and watch him smile demonically.

do your own research.simply put.your Naira has more purchasing power than their Peso.
I happen to meet a chile guy where I'm doing my MOT in South London. He works in a garage.just think of yourself spending all that money to get to chile U manage save100k Peso to send to your Nigerian account and you get less than N100k??.

I'm just asking you from your own experience of both economies, which one is better?

And from my little research, Chile has a more developed and stable economy compared to Nigeria. Chile has a higher GDP per capita and a more diversified economy with significant contributions from mining, agriculture, and services. Nigeria, on the other hand, heavily relies on oil exports and faces challenges related to political instability, corruption, and economic diversification.

Moreso, the minimum wage in Chile is around 300,000 clp with a gdp(PPP)of over 500billion usd and over 28,000 per capita.

While nigeria is over 1.3 trillion usd gdp(PPP) over 6,000 usd per capita and minimum wage in Nigeria is 33,000.

This shows that Chile has a stronger economy and a better PPP in terms of both total economic output and individual income.

So I ask again, how is Nigeria better than Chile?

Ps: I stand corrected if any of the figures or information I dropped is incorrect, kindly state your own facts

dude, congrats on your Chile journey. I see you've worked pretty hard for this, and voila, your hard work paid off. That is to show that there is a reward for every hard work we put into what we have passion for.

I have gone through your "Memoirs from Chile" posts since you started it, and I'm not really impressed with how you're denigrating your country of birth (Nigeria) as against your new-found country (Chile). You calling Nigeria a shithole and all that and using disparaging words (agbadorians) on your fellow citizen is uncalled for. You can pass your information intelligently without resorting to unfair criticism of Nigeria and Nigerians. It's not even up to a month you moved to Chile, and you're already telling everyone how it's the next best thing to heaven. Yes, Chile might be better than Nigeria in a million ways, but Nigeria is not hell either. In one of your posts, you claimed to know Chile very well cos of the things you've read online before moving down there and maybe from one or two friends you have there. That is not reality bro, not at all. Reality is you being there and experiencing things first hand. You have a bachelors in Marine Engineering from a Nigeria University. How much in total did you spend in tuition to get the certificate? Can you compare that to the cost of obtaining same degree from a Chilean University? How much are you currently paying for your study there at the moment? I believe you are one of the people up in arms when subsidy was removed by this present administration. Can you tell us how much a litre of gas/fuel cost in Chile even though they are a oil producing nation like Nigeria? How about the cost of energy/electricity? Is the cost of electricity in Chile not about 5 times the cost in Nigeria? Yes, their minimum wage is way higher than Nigeria, but can you tell us the rate of their currency compared to the USD? You make it seems like you never benefited nothing from the 'shithole' Nigeria. How about health care? Is their public healthcare any better than the 'shithole' Nigeria? I agree with you, some of their universities might be in the top 10 or 100 or have better ranking than Nigerian Universities, but I can tell you this for free, we are more smarter and better academically than Chileans. Go outside Nigeria and Chile for a job, the Nigerian candidate will get the job first before the Chilean is considered, 100% fact.. Even though our University curriculum is a little bit outdated and the learning environment is tough, these helps us get better at what we do than most other countries with better education system. This is why you see someone that graduated with a third class in a Nigeria University graduating with a first class in a western country.

Should we talk about the tax systems in both countries? You see those 'beautiful and heavenly' roads and buildings pictures you showed on this thread, those are made possible cos of the high taxes being paid by the citizens. But in Nigeria, we all complain that the government wants to tax us to death. Where do you lots think the money to execute those 'heavenly' projects will come from? People talk about the social and free programs (free education, elderly care, etc.) in western countries. Are you guys aware that the citizens have to pay for that? It is directly taken from your paycheck, either you like it or not. No government gives out free handouts to their citizens. It is paid for by the same citizens one way or the other.

The leaders we all insults are also one of us. They are not from Ghana neither are they from Gambia, they are fellow Nigerians like us. We all are responsible for the current state of the nation.

I agree that Nigeria is messed up, but we will and shall get there one day.

The Chileans paid the fair price for the country to be where it is today. They had to take all these tough and painful reforms to set their country on the path to greatness. Don't you think Nigeria also needs the tough and painful reforms to also set the nation on a path to greatness?

I hope you enjoy your stay in Chile!

God has finally done it for me grin. 3 years worth of work came to fruition and I was able to japa to Chile tongue tongue tongue. Sharing some pics from my trip and my everyday life on this thread. This is for those who think that south america is hell. Theres a lot of amazing countries in the world. You need to research and figure out what works for you. My flight was from Lagos to doha to Brazil and then finally to Chile. I didn't really start taking any pics until I got into Chile. I am sure you can find thousands of pictures about Brazil, Qatar or Lagos online but hardly anyone has posted anything about Chile.

The first pic is me In the plane crossing the Andes mountains. The light in the distance is the city of santiago.

Second is the airport in concepcion.

Third is my Uber ride from the airport to my Airbnb

You didn't do your bachelors in Nigeria doesn't mean others didn't. 90% of graduates in Nigeria had their first degree or bachelors from a Nigerian university, paying little to nothing in tuition. A single course in a US university costs more than the total I spent from my kindergaten to my final year in the university.

Look at my post again, I said outside Nigeria and Chile. How many jobs have you applied for from outside Nigeria? Don't say what you don't know. A Nigerian will get a job ahead of his Chilean counterpart outside both countries. It's a fact, not a myth.

Chile got their independence in 1810, compared to Nigeria's independence in 1960... compare the years in between.

Lol a Nigerian will never get a job before a Chilean anywhere. Stand before american companies, stand before companies in Canada. Stand before companies in Europe. The Chilean comes first. Chileans don't need LMIA to work in Canada. Nigerians do. Chileans have h1b1 for the US, Nigerians have to slug it out with everyone else in h1b. Chile has working holiday visa with every country in the EU and Australia. Nigerians don't. Chileans only need to live in Spain for two years to be Spanish citizens. Nigerians need 10 years. A Nigerian will never get a job ahead of a Chilean anywhere. Chileans don't even leave Chile. The country has one of the lowest emigration rates in the world. Chileans don't travel anywhere. You are very wrong... again, don't argue what you don't know. H1B visa outside both countries is obtainable irrespective of the country you're from. What's important is if the company employing find you worthy. All the company need do is apply for the visa, again, irrespective of the country. I have a lot of Chileans where I work dude, don't say what you don't know. You are only limited to what you know, same applies to me, and everyone else.

FYI.. there are over 172k Chileans in the US alone... dude, stop your misleading arguments.

Oh, I guess I didn't see you mentioned h1b1 for Chileans, my bad for that. and FYI, Nigerians don't have to struggle to get h1b visa... the h1b process is same for all candidates, irrespective of your country. It's not a matter of believe what you want, it's a matter of setting the record straight, don't come here giving wrong impression and information. Enjoy your stay in 'heavenly' Chile. I haven't seen you complain about the cost of living, gas, electricity, etc.... but you are quick to condemn Nigeria... you haven't addressed the tax issue, neither did you make mention of what they have to pay separately for the social programs you're praising. We should learn to criticize constructively. You are enjoying Chile today because their citizens already paid their fair share. Why don't we try that In Nigeria too?

My rent comes with all tariffs included. Nothing to complain about. You don't pay taxes till you earn up to a certain amount which is quite high. A lot of minimum wage earners here don't pay taxes. The h1b visa is a lottery with a 14 percent chance of selection as of 2023. Why don't you mention this. For Chilean h1b1 it's 100 percent chance of getting it. So where In the world will a Nigerian get a job ahead of a Chilean? Tell me how?

You see, when I said getting a job, I specifically said outside both countries, and wasn't talking about the work visa. Go for interviews vs a Chilean, then you will know. I mean go for interviews in the US as a Nigerian vs Chilean, they don't even come close, not by a 100 miles. I wasn't taking about your rent with all tariffs.... oh I forgot, you aren't working yet... so you won't understand what I meant by taxes and social security tax... and oh, you don't have a car yet, so you don't actually buy gas. If Chile is that good and better, and people don't migrate, there shouldn't be almost 200k Chileans living in the US alone.... what about other countries we don't even know?

Switzerland is rich and successful yet there's swiss people everywhere. Chile has one of the lowest emigration rates in the world. Even lower than Switzerland. This is easily verifiable data online. Whether there's 200k chileans in the us or not doesn't reduce Chiles emigration rate. Chileans don't go anywhere. You don't need a car in Chile. Public transportation is very cheap and efficient.

Chile's population is just a little bit over 19 million and over 200k of that is living in the US alone. Nigeria has a population of over 200 million. If you compare that by percentage, how can you say Chile has a low emigration? This is simple arithmetic. Chileans don't go anywhere but yet almost 200k for yankee alone? Public transportation is very cheap but how much is the gas? Is the gas cheaper in Chile vs Nigeria?

Lagos population alone is more than Chile. So they have the jobs, amenities, etc to go round the citizens. Our population is a curse to us, not a blessing. Nigeria's population is ten times that of Chile. So how do you even start the comparism? What sense does that even make?

Brazil got their independence in 1822, while Nigeria got hers in 1960. There is a clear difference. But in all honesty, will you prefer to live in Brazil?

Does Brazil subsidize gas and energy? What's Brazil's tax rate? Don't they pay for social security tax too, separate from the regular tax? Do we have these in Nigeria?

Like I said before, if we start paying our fair share, we will get there! These things didn't just happened overnight. These people went through tough and painful reforms to get where they are today. We should also do the same.

Brazil was my first choice. I was actually going to go to Brazil in 2020 till I got my first job in tech and decided to chill a bit in naija and save more money. My goal was and is the US and a Chilean passport makes it very easy. Mexico was also there as they are eligible for TN visa too.

Just last month here, Brazil introduced and the house passed a new tax reform on VAT. Few years ago, a new reform on pension was passed. You want to go there because life is better there than Nigeria. But you forget that the Brazilians are making this tough and unpopular reforms. So why are you against the Nigerian government making same reforms? Why calling people supporting the reforms 'agbadorians'? How do you think we will be able to achieve economic progress without a holistic approach? HOW?

Why do you think it's okay to buy gas for over a dollar per litre in Chile, but you think it's a crime to buy same gas for less than a dollar in Nigeria? but yet you're calling same Nigeria a shithole. How do you think the government will be able to afford the basic amenities for over 200 million of its citizens without raising taxes? You think it's okay to pay high taxes in Chile, but think it's a scam to pay same in Nigeria too, but yet, you want same development. This is common sense.

Of course, I have seen and experienced both worlds first-hand, and I have come to realize that Nigeria is not as bad as we all assume, if only we pay our fair share. I have seen how developed/western countries are able to afford what we call the 'basic amenities', and I have come to the conclusion that for Nigeria to also experience this type of greatness, things definitely have to change. We want jobs, good health facilities, good roads, etc. These things don't happen by miracle. The develop/western worlds tax every cents their citizen makes. In the US, if you're selling your car, both seller and buyer have to pay tax. Does that happen in Nigeria? Aside paying tax from your salary, you pay tax on every single thing you buy or sell. You pay rent, you still have to pay tax on it. You pay your regular bills, you still have to pay taxes on it. Every damn thing is taxed. A chunk of your paycheck goes towards taxes and social security. You can buy gas at $4 per gallon in the morning, when you go back to that same gas station in 10 minutes, it might be selling for $4.50 for same one gallon... you don't have any option than to buy.

So guy, this is not a matter of being an agbadorian or obidient or whatever it's called, I just want Nigeria to work. This is what we all should pray for. We should pray for our birth country to work and also be better and developed like the western countries.

US debt is over $30 trillion dollars, compared to Nigeria's $103.1 billion dollars. The US loan to GDP is over 128%, compared to Nigeria's 32%. What in your mind do you think the US government do with it's loan?

In 2022, Chile with a population of 19 million realized over $68 billion USD from taxes alone, compared with Nigeria with a population of over 200 million, ten times the size of Chile, realized only $22 billion USD.... and that's the highest in our history. How is it fair to compare both countries?

Don't get me wrong. I have never for once said Chile is not a good country and I have never or will never criticize your move to Chile, NEVER. No one should decide for anyone how to plan their life. We all should be free to make our decisions. I only feel it's unfair to compare Nigeria to Chile... and calling Nigeria a shithole is really not patriotic. Like you stated earlier, Chile has the lowest emigration... that's patriotism. They are paying their fair share and staying back to see their country works.

Don't say what I don't know. How you guys just come to Nigeria and assume everyone was illiterate and suffering in Nigeria is so funny o. You think if I was working and earning peanuts in naija, I would be able to go anywhere cheesy cheesy. Joker

So where did U do your Bsc if I may ask?

I don't Know why people are hating on @Tensazangetsu20 for relocating to Chile.

Going through his comments, you will know that he has done a lot of research before choosing Chile. The most important thing is that he will be able to work while going to school at the same time, and he can enjoy the US Visa Waiver Program too if he eventually gets Chilean citizenship because Chile has been designated a member of the Visa Waiver Program since 2014; therefore, Chilean nationals can travel to the United States under this program visa-free.

I don't think any African country is a member of the visa waiver program.

Also, you will see how some of our youths are discussing online on how to travel to Botswana, Mauritius, Namibia, and the Seychelles because of their passports, so they can travel to the UK visa-free.

It's not everyone that will get a visa to travel to the A-list countries; if you are young and age is on your side, going to places like Chile as a stepping stone is not a bad idea.

It's not even the visa waiver program. I can always apply for a US visa. It's the h1b1 I am interested in. Mexico isn't part of the us visa waiver program but Mexicans enjoy TN visa to work in the us. Because of the Mexican passport and it's access to the TN visa I rather be a Mexican citizen than a British citizen.

That’s even better. Bro, remain focused on your target. I wish you best of luck.

You are an agbadorian too grin grin grin. I guess you dont live in Nigeria. Like I have said since 2020, I give you guys till November grin grin. Reforms my ass

And if he does, he has an American passport. See why I called them demons?! It is glaring for all to see. These people are demonic, no ifs or buts, period!

The Agbadorian mentioned reforms, the same reforms his cocaine lord kicked against when Jonathan introduced them in 2012 and supported a feudal terrorist to be Nigeria's president three years later.

These people are deluded!
