Probably not, if she makes it past triage which i doubt, she ll get seen by Psych Liaison. If no imminent threat to herself or others, she ll be discharged to the care of her GP or community mental health team. I would say Try your GP first. Private can cost up to £60/hr I hope you get through this alright. Lexusgs430: 4 Likes |

ericadianas: It’s better to get your PCC handy before you leave Nigeria. Any job that requires you dealing with humans directly will require it. DBS is when you’re in the uk already Both DBS and PCC (if dealing with humans directly) are needed as part of your onboarding process and pre employment background checks for any job in the UK. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Look out for NGOs offering mental health therapy, might come in handy. If you are student, visit your student center and ask for help there. tinutunde: |

Quick Question: when can a student switch as a dependent of a tier 2 visa ? Does the student have to wait till graduation? |

I love your outlook towards this whole thing. I’m a chartered accountant from Nigeria, came on student’s visa. Really have no intention of getting care COS except as a last resort. I’m really hoping to get a job in the four months after school before students visa expires and I have to pay for PSW. However, PSW is an option too. My husband currently works in care. I don’t want him to get stuck there. Meanwhile, where you de see £17/hr shift? Give your sister connect na Schoolhike: |

Good afternoon my seniors. Please, I have an issue disturbing me and need advice. I received a text message from my care home manager last Friday that I have been taken off my normal shift (night) because of concerns of safety of service users and myself. I called her and asked what the concerns were and she said they reported me for sleeping. I was very upset and had to narrate all that has been happening to her because she just came to the home and the former manager was lied against and she left the place on a forced leave by the same set of people that lied against me. They sleep on shift and I am the one that do their checks at night. I asked her if she ever checked online to corroborate what they told her against the night checks because I am the one always doing theirs when they sleep off sometimes for 5 hours they are asleep on night shifts. She said she will check I told her I can't do day shifts because of childcare. Now she has arranged for a meeting with the HR because I told her everything that those staff have been doing, not working, leaving all the work for me to do, making calls loudly and disturbing the service users at night, sleeping on shift and many more. My issue is this when they started these lies immediately I joined the organisation one of the staff told me to start keeping evidences. For sleeping the only concrete evidence I have is pictures of them and videos of them sleeping at different times that I have taken, it is against the Company's policy to snap anyone without their consent. Please how do I go about using these evidences to exonerate myself of this allegations as they have tried every means to get me and this is the only lie they could come up with. Can I show the HR the pictures and videos and let her know that I had to do it as I have seen the signs of them trying to frame me up? Please I need advise before my meeting with her. Thank you all. |

Oyi12: I think the evidences that showed you did all the checks at nights while they're sleeping should be fine. No need for further evidences and other snapping of someone sleeping. |

Happyfellow147: That’s my average working house in Scotland, I drive so that’s an edge for me to work at places with better pay. Works with different agency then, Florence, Allied&Clinical, etc Sometime it’s more than that, once worked 40£/hr for a day shift, 25-35£/hr for bank holidays. But been hearing lots of info lately that people are no more getting shift like before really scarce, so people are back to doing 13£,14£,15£ etc but few are still getting range of 17-25£/hr for weekends and night shift. Scotland nhs pays bank staff around 17-21£/hr for weekends I think. Some agencies pays higher. All depends on your agency shaa, don’t have much info anymore. 2 Likes |

Those "keywords" , as you call them, will go into her permanent medical record. She may even get a section out of it and a trip to a mental hospital.Yippee ! When all she needs may be some medication or talking therapy the GP can arrange. Always a bad idea to lie to your doctor. Always. Lexusgs430: 8 Likes |

Should we be scared or the usual rumour mongers at work? In the letter is mentioned 3 years ILR which doesn't make sense What do you think?

Oyi12: Would advise you not to show those pics or videos to anyone since it's against the company's policy. Heard of a similar situation here previously, and both the staff member who was sleeping and the one who took the pictures (because it was not allowed) were both dismissed. During the Meeting 1. Before presenting your side, understand what specific allegations have been made against you. 2. Stay calm and professional, regardless of how emotional or personal the matter is, remember to maintain your composure. 3. Stick to the facts, discuss the situation without resorting to personal attacks on other staff members. 4. Address the issue of you handling night checks for others, make it clear that you've been proactive in your duties, even covering for others. 5. Ensure to discuss your limitations regarding day shifts due to childcare. Perhaps you can also provide proof or reasoning that necessitates you working night shifts. 6. Before your meeting, consider seeking legal advice or speaking to a union representative if you have one. They may be able to offer more specific guidance tailored to your situation and local employment laws. Lastly, consider if this workplace environment is healthy for you in the long run. A hostile work environment can be detrimental to both your professional growth and personal well-being. You could recommend ( 1. If the company utilizes PCs or tablets to log night checks, then the timestamps can be referenced to determine who was actively recording care at specific times. 2. Additionally, to demonstrate my commitment to my responsibilities, I'm willing to consent to be photographed by other staff if ever they find me sleeping on duty.) 10 Likes |

bigtt76: The letter mostly looks and sounds authentic.I'd query the dates highlighted by HO as they are outside of the student visa expiry date, not sure that still counts as term time? I have heard of a few cases recently where leave has been cancelled or refused due to working over 20 hours so it does sound like HO is taking a firmer stance. 1 Like |

Oyi12: Schoolhike has said broken it down very well, and I suggest you follow that. Only thing I'd say in addition is that when you go to that meeting, let them know you want a written record of the meeting in general and all allegations against you (and the evidence) in particular. Based on the contents of that record and the outcome of the meeting, you'll be in a better position to decide if and how to use the evidence you have. |

Oyi12: My only contribution to this is if the accusations against you are false but upheld, tender the evidences you have. Let everybody bear the heat. 1 Like 1 Share |

bigtt76: Didn't mention ILR. It mentioned leave to remain which is the technical term for a visa that grants residency status (even temporary). I don't see any reason to doubt that it's real. Only thing I'd point out is that what they both have in common is switching before finishing their studies. Maybe that's why they had additional scrutiny? Edit: I actually doubt these, especially the one that says 'Tier 2' because I don't think HO uses that term anymore since the end of 2020. 1 Like |

koonbey: Those letters are 100% genuine. There's no reason why HO should not use the term "Tier 2" in official communication. Its a valid visa category and you can find the terminology on their website just like Tier 1, Tier 5, etc. |

Schoolhike: Thanks everyone for your input. This is my mind-set too but I heard that the checks gets wipe off after 1-2 months. I pray they can view them though. I am already planning to leave but wouldn't want to have those allegations against me knowing they are lies. Secondly, I wouldn't want the bad ones who only grumble about the job and don't do their work keep framing and lying against the hard working ones. I have some Nigerians starting in the same home and might face the same challenge if I just let it slide. Thank you for your advice about the pictures and videos. The union I belong to is for my main job with the NHS so I don't think I can ask them for advise about this job. I will present my case clearly as advised but I am quite disappointed that the manager didn't border checking the records at all but onlysaid she was going to checkafter i asked her. Even if they check those records, they always have a backup lie like they inputted but the network was bad so it didn't record but I input everytime and it goes. Hence my reason for wanting to show the pictures but I won't show it again. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Nobody: 3:12pm On Aug 13, 2023 |
Ralphlauren: Send a link to an official immigration website where the tier categories are used as a current term, not in reference to their past usage. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Schoolhike: 3:17pm On Aug 13, 2023 |
Viruses: Last resort when she’s not interested in the job anymore, She could give a resignation letter and then tender the evidences against them. As a result, her reason to another prospective employer asking for why she left the job wouldn’t be that the employer sacked her. With that, such thing wouldn’t happen to others coming to join the company or deter others from framing people up. 1 Like |
