Tijani009:Yes but the problem is that we don't refine the crude in Nigeria. The imported refined product will go up when crude oil prices go up. |

festacman:Have you heard of state capture before? The fulanis have your so called nation in a vice like grip! Instead of opening up their lands for the exploitation of their abundant solid minerals, they will rather invite western vampire firms to surreptitiously mine these minerals under the cover of boko haram and Banditry activities.........we know the game! As for Tinubu, his battle for legitimacy seems to be driving his policies! many of which are contradictory.........He devalued the naira by allowing it to float but at the same time you pour more naira ( 500 billion palliative)into a system already awash with trillions of naira that clueless buhari borrowed ! Trust our corrupt Politicians they have cornered a huge chunk of the palliatives and as usual they all want to change their loot into forex for onward transfer to dubai .London etc Inflation is in full bloom now .........temporary subsidy will never bring the prices down again! |

Abagworo:Anyone still supporting these people all in the name of tribal politics should know they’re accomplice in destroying this country, why would you all think Tinubu will perform better as a president after Buhari 8yrs rules, if Tinubu have a better ideas of governing the country he would have share such with Buhari in order for his political party to pilot the nation affairs to a greater height, most of us aren’t patriotic people in this country otherwise we shouldn’t be looking for our own tribe and religious to be in power there should be inclusiveness of every citizen into the country governing system that’s how things work Buhari appointed people with zero knowledge of how to govern a country the system still continues because it’s same political ideology that runs throughout all APC members from top to bottom none of them ready to work they’re out for looting and enriching themselves |

The news that President Tinubu is considering a "temporary subsidy" on petrol is a welcome development for many Nigerians. The removal of the subsidy in May 2023 had led to a sharp rise in petrol prices, which has put a strain on household budgets and businesses. A temporary subsidy would help to ease the burden on consumers and give the government time to find a more sustainable solution to the problem of rising fuel prices. It is important to note that a temporary subsidy is not a long-term solution. It would only be a stop-gap measure to help Nigerians cope with the current economic situation. The government needs to find a way to reduce its dependence on imported fuel and develop its own domestic refining capacity. This would help to stabilize fuel prices and make them more affordable for Nigerians in the long run. In the meantime, a temporary subsidy would be a much-needed relief for many Nigerians. It would help to protect them from the worst effects of rising fuel prices and give them some breathing space until the government can find a more permanent solution. I also want to add that India is a good example of a country that has successfully implemented a temporary fuel subsidy. In 2022, the Indian government introduced a temporary subsidy on petrol and diesel in response to rising global oil prices. The subsidy helped to keep fuel prices down and prevented a spike in inflation. The government eventually phased out the subsidy in 2023, but it was a successful measure in the short term. I hope that President Tinubu will consider the Indian model when making a decision about whether or not to introduce a temporary subsidy on petrol in Nigeria. It is a good way to help Nigerians cope with rising fuel prices without having to commit to a long-term subsidy that could be unsustainable. |

leokid866:We don't have problems, as in plural. We have just one problem, and that's corruption. It has tainted us and everything we do. Our leaders now consider running away from it to facing it. PS if you believe the subsidy removal is all that there is to our current inflation problems then you have no idea how world economics work....cause for your mind we are insulated from external factors......Just compare the prices of every service and commodity in Nigeria today with that of May 29th this year. Subsidy removal might not be the only factor, but that's major factor. |

I will be very disappointed in Tinubu if this is true. He clearly didn't think this through. There is no difference between a temporary subsidy and subsidy. |

Nothing is happening in our economy at the moment. We are just selling crude oil. What about other solid natural minerals? If we share borders with Niger, are we sure we don't have uranium?
