Bosun Tijjani, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, announced that the government has acquired access to around $500 million in financing to launch a local innovation funding programme.

He stated that the goal of this programme was to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the country's digital industry.

On Friday, the minister mentioned this during a luncheon hosted by the World Bank in Abuja.

“So we’ve got access to about half a billion dollars to start local funding. This funding is aimed at propelling innovation and entrepreneurship within Nigeria’s thriving digital sector,” he stated.

The Minister, reiterated the government's resolve to retaining the funds within Nigeria's borders and directing their advantages to legitimate Nigerian firms.

To do this, Tijjani emphasised plans to collaborate with the Bank of Industry (BoI), saying, "We want to ensure that those businesses that will benefit are true, real Nigerian businesses."

Tijani assured the public that the first half-billion-dollar investment was only the start, saying, "The government is not just going to put half a billion and that's it; it can actually bring more investors on board."

“This strategy aims to augment the resources available to support Nigerian innovators. The overarching goal is to harness these funds to attract further investments and broaden the support system for local entrepreneurs,” he added

They even have a stone dey kiss in that shrine of theirs. Same thing will be called evil If a traditionalist does it.
I don't understand o, my brother. They've zamzam water, too, which they drink in one of the shrines at Makkah. And adherents of our local religion also drink their own water in the shrines of the native goddesses.

All these are rituals, which every religion in the world has in one form or the other. Then, what makes the rituals and idols of the native religion evil and demonic while the Arabian idol called Allah and his rituals are seen as good by these people?

I just dey laugh at these mumu people fighting for their god and disrupting the peaceful coexistence of society.

How can people exhibit such low intelligence in the 21st century with all the information available on the Internet?

Some will even call themselves professors and doctors and first-class graduates, but they can't think deeply.

Absolutely!

Steve is one of the most respected African Americans with the AA community. Infact, he is referred to as “Uncle Steve” here by African Americans because of how much he is revered.

He has been incredibly kind to the African American community with his wealth and that holds strong and true with the community.

In a bid to mitigate the impact of the recent fuel subsidy removal, Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo has announced a series of palliative measures.

The measures include:

1. A 10% salary increase for all public servants and pensioners in the state.

2. A monthly flat non-taxable cash award of N12,000 for every pensioner and public servant in the state for the period September 2023 to December 2023.

3. Distribution of rice to over 300,000 households in the state.

4. Tax exemptions/reductions for hawkers, wheelbarrow and truck pushers, vulcanizers, artisans, okada drivers, petty traders, and transporters.

5. Free antenatal services and free delivery services for pregnant mothers in state primary health centers and general hospitals.

6. Repair/renovation of all serviceable Public Servants Staff Buses currently under the office of the Head of Service of Anambra State.

7. Application to purchase CNG-fueled buses for intra-state transportation.

8. Repair of existing and purchase of new water boats to ease transportation for citizens in the riverine local governments.

In the medium to long term, the governor also announced plans to:

9. Distribute one million oil palm and coconut seedlings per annum to over 100,000 households.

10. Establish a new industrial complex to process the products, thereby creating more jobs for youths.

11. Energize the One Youth Two Skills program by providing a mix of grant and soft loan schemes at a maximum interest rate of 9% per annum.

12. Complete the set-up and funding of the Ward-based Cooperative Initiative for micro-enterprises.

13. Roll out a very ambitious program to build/modernize the primary health centers (PHCs) in all the 326 wards.

14. Construct over 340km of roads across all the twenty-one local governments.

15. Improve the Ease of Doing Business in Anambra to attract private sector investment into the state.

Bosun is repainting a house and calling it a new one.
The programme is called I-DICE launched on March 14th this year in collaboration with the African Development Bank and it's the brainchild of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (who's also the brain behind the Nigeria Startup Act which came to effect in September 2022 with a functional advisory council).

I-DICE is a $613 million PPP anyway.

It would be fully functional if Osinbajo is drafted back to lead it.

"Yes, the private sector will lead the way within an enabling environment we create for them, but the U.S. Government must be innovative in its thinking and systematically create incentives for the U.S. industrial investment in Nigeria. Under my leadership, Nigeria stands ready to address their specific regulatory, tax, and environmental concerns. I am determined to create prosperity for all Nigerian families.

"American-backed development finance and multilateral institutions, which were designed to support war-torn Europe after World War II, require swift and comprehensive reform to meet the developmental requirements of younger democracies in Africa, which operate in authoritarian-crowded environments, such that the legitimate yearnings of Africans would no longer be manipulated to serve the narrow aims of self-seeking demagogues through unconstitutional takeovers of power."

Here's why:

Every policy PYO initiated as Acting President got discontinued or abandoned.

With the momentum he moved with to get the Nigeria Startup Bill passed and the fanfare it got launched (plus the I-DICE announcement in March), yet it's been abandoned.

Please confirm this: The last time news websites reported about I-DICE was on March 15, but I check the AfDB website every other week and there are quarterly updates. Even calls for local Enterprise Development Partners in May. The government and the Bank of Industry have made no comment about this.

The caveat has always been "...once the Nigerian government announces...". AfDB already stated it would contribute its own share of $170 million of the $613 million, but the government has said nothing about it.

----

Even Bosun Tijani (from the report OasisX posted) has seemingly shifted from I-DICE since he didn't mention it. Osinbajo already did all the work. Just activate it. It's simple.
