Hello House,

I am trying to get a credit card from American Express but they rejected my application. I have an 808 credit score from Experian. When I was filling out the form, I was asked to fill in 3years address in the UK but I have only stayed for 1 year. I would like to ask if that was the reason for the rejection and if there is a way around it. Thank You.

Waiting for your responses.

Need advice please
How long after getting into UK would someone have a credit score? Been here since 2nd week in June on a dependent visa. Not started working yet. Have an account with Lloyd, Monzo and Revolut.
Just rented an apartment this month though and haven’t started paying any bills.
Just want to know if anyone has an idea of when one can start having credit history

There are other factors checked by the CC companies not necessarily your credit score.

For example if you are registered to vote in an area, how long you've lived there, frequency of bills paid (credit history) earned from paying for example utilities, council tax, phone contract etc.

They also want to know you are earning income in the country. The number of years don't matter really.

First have you registered to be on the electoral roll? Very important in building your credit history. Do you have a contract phone that you post pay? You start having credit score recorded for you immediately you start making payments on your bills. Signing up on Totally Money, Experian and other credit reporting platforms might help too.

Good thing you can report your rents as well... Will share the link below for you to sign up for free after doing your due diligence on same.

Use the following to report your rent payment to report the rent payment to credit agencies.

But Las Las , you still pay every penny . No be free money abi?

This is the idea behind credit (especially the interest free ones)

If you want to buy something of 1k and you have the cash, rather than pay the 1k cash, you can put it in a high yield investment account for it to generate interest while you pay the credit small small. So before you exaust the 1k on the credit, it would have generated money for you.

There are stocks that you'll buy and if you are lucky, it will generate all the money to pay the credit.

Well, some people see it as being financially organized. According to his words. His argos card is for argos shopping, his tesco card is for tesco, sainsbury card is for sainsbury, aqua is for drinks, capital one is for Chinese meals, amex is for vacations. Quoting my colleague.

Having more credit cards is a more dangerous game, not many people can play. In UK, the ideal is 2 or 3, then balance transfer cards for well-thought out heavy expenses with extreme discipline.

Don't. Don't go applying for random cards. You'd kill your small credit score. Use an eligibility checker, Experian has it. Check for cards you're 100% eligible for, then apply.

Does KLM or Lufthansa still require transit visa?
They seem to be the cheapest from Lagos for the next few days.

Anyone who has used them recently please advice.

Bolded is the way to go for typical CC. But for 0% purchase cards, you can actually spread out the balance on the card. The important thing is to clear the balance before the promotional period ends. It is actually a great tool to have if one is disciplined enough to manage it.

In her case, it was pure greed...... Because they offer you credit, does not necessarily mean you should take it all........

Did she have to buy a Β£12,000 vehicle (that she clearly could not afford)....... What happened to buying a vehicle of Β£2000.........

I get offered loans on the average of twice a week (I simply delete the emails).... Also car finance deals, I simply look the other way........ 😜

Financial discipline is key and very important, in all you do........ πŸ€£πŸ™„

You must be on expired kolos, to take a 118 118 loan (49.90 APR)........ 😁😜

House,
for someone whose destination is Manchester, but want to fly London, which of the airport is best to fly considering proximity and ease to move to manchester, Heathrow or Gatwick?

Luton is better, because you just hit the M1 (but you did not offer us Luton)....... 🀣

Heathrow - M4 - M25 - M1.......

Gatwick - M23 - M25 - M1........

No difference...... πŸ™„πŸ˜

Just get a coach or hop on the train........ Taxis would be expensive.......
