Sorry, I didn't mention my province. I'm based in Ontario. Everything I said is based on my experience in Ontario. I have no idea the situation of things in other provinces.

Personally, I will not advise any student that is on a budget to go to Ontario. Coupled with fact that the highest housing crisis is in Ontario. With the possibility of a cap on study visa, please if you have not applied to schools for admission. Please apply to smaller cities. Your pr will even be easier than in Ontario.

I personally don't see what people see in this Ontario. A lot of people will school there and still move to other province to be able to achieve PR. Abeg if there is gold and diamond in Ontario please let me know....

Yes, it is possible there are two types of admission schools Conditional and non-conditional admission. It will be stated in your LOA, that colleges give conditional admission while for Universities it is left for the team to decide on that. But if you still want to make a payment you can go ahead with it

Thanks so much, I really appreciate

If I get you right, you did your medicals same day you submitted your application? There’s no advice I can give other than for you to just be prayerful and wait for the decision.

But for me, I did my medicals on July 25 and then submitted my application on Aug 4 and got my PPR on Aug 16th. I submitted my medical information sheet with my application. It appears you didn’t do that so you can just wait for medical request before you submit.

Hi
I also submitted my application on the 4th. Did upfront medicals and I'm yet to get a response.
I checked the application tracker, my biometrics have been completed, my medicals shows "not started", eligibility shows "not started" then my background verification shows "in progress"...pls can you advise?
Also I just received my medical report from IOM which I did since on the the 4th of August too. Do I need to upload it?
Thank you

Passport request!!!!
Upfront Medicals
Submitted application on August 4
Got PPR today!

Please I need assistance from those who have submitted application for study permit regarding SoP.
Do I need to include the amount of money I would be coming to Canada with in the SoP?
I have a separate document I called financial analysis where I detailed the funds breakdown, but I just want to know if it is mandatory to include the sum in the SoP.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Blessing84: 9:32am On Aug 29, 2023
I am a first time applicant. I used the new portal. I also submitted the info page of my medicals too.
If I may ask, does your program start in Jan 2024 or Sep 2023?
I know it may be quite early but I just wonder why some people got their approvals within 10-15days and mine is over 20 days now.

Lol haba this is not true. The law says you have to be actively studying in that school. And you don’t need to submit another study permit application if you are already in Canada o. You can only do that if you are still outside Canada
Slippy:

someone told me U/Manitoba allows one to register and pay for just one course for the semester....u have to confirm this. You need it as you are required to be enrolled and studying before changing school. Then when you get admission elsewhere you submit a new study permit application with the new letter of acceptance.

Dear Gurus in the house,

I’m actually new here but need your urgent advice as regards to writing a good SOP to apply for Canada study permit.
I have an undergraduate degree in physiology (medical related), I then applied to University of Manitoba for another undergraduate nursing degree, unfortunately wasn’t granted admission because my school syllabus for transfer credits were not sufficient to meet the required prerequisite (Nigeria factor), however was considered for admission into bachelor of science (general). The admission officer advised that with that route I will be able to complete the prerequisite in my second year (the admission given is to begin from year 2 of 4 years program) and if I do well, I can now reapply for nursing program. (Nursing in U of M is 28months and one qualifying year).

I also need to mention that I currently work as an HR assistant but do have some transferable skills since I will be dealing with humans. But do you think I should disclose this to the visa officer?

I need advice on my chances of getting a student permit visa approved, and how to construct my statement of purpose.

You may want to ask why I’m opting for another undergraduate program, but my reason is because I’m intrigued to study nursing, and because my initial undergraduate course isn’t nursing, I can’t apply for pgd(not sure) or masters degree in nursing.

Please what are your opinions guys☹️☹️☹️

Hi, since you were not admitted for Nursing, i don’t think you need to focus on that but rather how the Bsc General is beneficial for your current line of experience.
How you long have you worked in HR?
When did you obtain your first Bsc?.

That being said, did you try other schools that allow top up degree for Nursing? Eg Uni of Sask.

In your post, you mentioned if you do well, you can re apply for Nursing, would that mean, if that doesn't happen, you would be expending funds in another BSc you don’t need?

Have you considered other course routes into Canada? That may be cheaper than a 3yr B.Sc?

All the best

Pls house I have a question..my father who is my sponsor CAC is inactive on the corporation website and the Tax clearance certificate is also due since December 2022...pls which one of is compulsory to tender as the amount to activate both is somehow expensive...or the two us compulsory
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Slippy: 11:51am On Aug 29, 2023
kweje:

If one is currently enrolled and actively studying, you do not need to submit a new study permit. The link you attached mentioned it, unless a student attempt to change schools outside of Canada. Students can switch schools if they meet the conditions. It is a free process.

While it is true that U of M allows you to pay per course registered, registering only one course in Fall or Winter terms is considered studying part time and is against your study permit guidelines. You can only register for one course during Summer which is considered a free term( you can study or decide not to study) unless your program specifies you must study during summer term like their accelerated nursing program demands.

You are right. I mixed it up

Tax clearance is not compulsory to submit. Business registration cert and memart is must. The reason for the inactive status is because you haven't been filing annual returns with CAC. It's unconnected with tax. This can be fixed in less than 10 days. Annual returns filing cost between 10k (small comp)and 15k ( big companies)for each year. Reactivation costs between 5 to 8k. Plus Processing fee.

Not to scare you, the way application for Canadian study permit is quite different, most processes are supposed to be done simultaneously. Your profile also determines the amount you need for POF.
- Since you have received admission, what intake is it for?
- Are you travelling alone, or you have dependents?
- You or your sponsor are/is meant to have the POF to cover for 1 at least 1 year of studies for at least 4 months, (preferably 6 months) in your account - sources of fund will be explained with documents and huge deposits explained.
- You also have to register for your medicals with either IOM or Qlife clinics in Lagos or Abuja.

Back to your question, after securing your admission, you are supposed to send your application to IRCC via the online portal with your required documents.
Please read the first page of this thread and IRCC website.
