20W 50 or 5W 20 ?

I just bought Mobil super 2000 5W 30

Also good.

Just that there's a 90% chance the previous owner was using a 20W 50 weight oil.

Just buy Mobil super 20W 50.

Don't go and pour synthetic oil inside that engine o.
How will you advice someone to use that heavy 20w 50 but not synthetic oil.
Na tractor he dey drive?
Go to jumia and get 5w 20, shouldn't be more than 30k. You can go for synthetic if you want, your engine will thank you.
I see that he used 5w 30, that's not bad.
The only reason you should use 20w 50 is if that's what the previous owner has been using for long, like way long.

Nobody dey follow you fight. Camry spider is 07 to 11 camry, yours is 12 to 16 model year and not known anywhere as spider.

Check your engine for external leakage

Check for internal leakage by keeping foot on accelerator and RPM at 3000 then check the exhaust if you notice smoke.

You said 5L burnt every 2500miles I believe you mean low oil guage every 2500miles?

The "Spider" name isn't the factory description of that 07-11 Camry, but a mere nickname bestowed on the vehicle by a God-knows-who Nigerian.

.. So if Op decides to also or call his own Camry "Spider" or "Spider man", wetin come be your own inside?... When no be say the 07-11 Camry don copyright the nickname.

And yes... There are a lot of people I know who still refer to the 012-16 model of Camry as "Spider"...Boya you wil go and beat them.

Did you see where he mentioned he doesn't know what the previous owner was using? I advised based on that.

There's an 87% chance that that's what the previous owner used.

Engine also burns oil, according to him.

Goodluck to him pouring Mobil full synthetic engine oil into that engine.

Chugging the engine with 20w 50 just because he doesn’t know what the previous owner was using can cause more harm oga.
Yes switching to lower viscosity oil after using a high viscosity oil for long time can cause increased engine wear.
But If that engine sounds healthy and has no major sludge buildup, don’t use 20w 50 based on assumptions.
5w 30 is fine*
Also since the engine burns oil, synthetic oil is the way to go, doesn’t burn as fast as mineral oil and wouldn’t need to top up.
Glad he didn’t follow your advice
20w 50 for Honda engines, Nawa you oh.

How would you tell if an engine has major sludge build up? Hope you know sludge can also act as a false seal, and bearing materials to quieten the engine.
Also for the 2nd bolded sentence, who told you synthetic oils don't burn out and does not need topping up?

1. Open up the valve cover after removing the Intake manifold, inspect the camshafts.
You can also inspect the oil pan or oil sump.
2. It does burn, but not as much as conventional oil as stated, as it requires a higher temperature to do so. Same time if your engine burns synthetic oil, it needs proper work.
Even during oil change after 5k miles, it'll still have that clear oil color, I think I'll start changing it after 10k miles sef.
No be by who told me, I did switch personally from regular to synthetic, and I'm telling you what I observed, you can also do research on it.
The only con is if you're using it on a high mileage engine, and you haven't changed the factory crankshaft seal which is now worn out, it can seep through causing minimal leak, because it is thinner than regular oil at normal temps.
The guy later used 5w 30 semi synthetic which is a synthetic blend oil which is closer to synthetic oil than that oil the other guy was recommending.
And if you did notice, he replied 5w 30 semi synthetic oil is "also good", implying that the 20w 50 mineral oil is good as well but
5w 30 semi synthetic and 20w 50 mineral oil cannot be both good for the same engine as they are way different.

So you're saying you'll have to do all what you stated in your 1st point just because you want to perform an oil change?
Are you a technician or a DIY type?
Also have you worked on any engine and understand how it works apart from what you read online?

Hello, I hear a thud sound when I brake especially when I brake downhills from the engine bay.

Also, my braking isn't smooth most especially around u turns. I changed my back engine mount, and every other mount seems fine.

Thanks for your response . The new oil {Mobil 2000 5litres) I changed to last week Sunday before traveling from akure to Osogbo, though the car has been used for errands everyday from morning till night since I got to Osogbo. On checking the oil this morning it is now at the middle gauge . Just got to middle. I’m confused and scared at same time. 2 different engineers have checked now and said no single leakage that my engine is in perfect condition.. It will become a week tomorrow since I changed to the new oil {Mobil 2000 5ltrs)

Run a compression test on your cylinders to know if you're burning oil through worn rings.
Also check your PCV system to know if you have a bad PCV. An oily air filter is a telltale sign of excessive crankcase pressure.

You have not done the oil burn test. Start the car, while someone depresses the throttle and keeps the rpm at 3 to 4000, another person checks the exhaust for fumes. If fume is notice, then the engine is burning oil due to wear and tear. Only noticeable at high speeds. If you notice such

1. Owner will have to change to thicker oil of 20W50

2. Work on the engine by changing piston rings, rebore the cylinder walls and even getting bigger pistons etc. The technician will put you through this.

3. Buy another engine with low mileage

Thank you for responding. It's an honda accord euro. I see there is a mount under my battery that holds the Trans, the rubber is broken. Could that be the culprit??

Yes the issue with honda new mount is they always fail, it is always recommended to buy tokunbo mounts for Honda vehicles

No diagnosis for that, I don't understand not too smoth braking.

Either the brake sends a feedback or pedal vibrates when you press or

Brakeing causes vehicle to swerve to one side explain further

I will be changing all four of my Toyota Corolla tyres so I decided to do little window shopping and I came up with this prices

Brand new Radial brand @ N23K
Fairly used @10K

NB: The year of the fairly tyre is 2021 and it looks really good (almost new).

My question is: Is it worth it to buy brand new tyres and are these fairly used tyres not a risk,?

Is it GT radial tyres? Cause that brand new price is fishy.

Tokunbo tyres are okay especially that your year you have just ensure it isn't winter tyres.
