If Ojukwu had released Awo without Gowon's consent ,why did Gowon receive Awolowo at his official headquarters in Lagos ?

Arrested members of the Jan 15 coup sought refuge in Biafra .

Why did Awo not seek refuge in the yeast but instead was flown immediately to meet with Gowon ?

One will think that Gowon being HoS had the sole powers to grant a pardon and not Ojukwu.

If Gowon had not pardoned Awolowo and ordered for his release ,Awo would have been rearrested and thrown into Kirikiri.

These Ibos can not lie and there is no point arguing with these pathological liars.

Only a complete fool would believe that after a coup that killed Ironsi, Gowon, or any Northern officer fir that matter, would have ventured into the Eastern Region to release Awolowo

Calabar was not and will never be Biafra .

You should know how Effik people chased you out of their land .

Do you expect Ojukwu to openly oppose releasing Awo ?

The fool dropped the ball and when Gowon excersiced his powers to grant a pardon, Ojukwu will begin lying that he was the one that released Awo.

Simple question:

Was Awo convicted and sentenced by Eastern Nigeria or the federal government of Nigeria ?

If Ojukwu had released Awo, do you think Gowon won't have thrown Awo in jail the minute he returned back to Lagos ?

Answer those simple questions.

The head of prison service takes order from Gowon and not Ojukwu. That a prison was located in that Easter region part of Nigeria does not make it under the control of the Eastern region government. That a federal agency is located in a state doesn’t mean the state governor is in charge of the agency.

If you want to give credit to Ojukwu, you can simply say he had the “power” to stop Awolowo from being released from Calabar prison but decided not to do so. That’s the credit he can get.

Gowon ordered the release of Awolowo and immediately appointed him the Vice Chairman of the Federal Executive Council and Minister of Finance. If Gowon did not order his release, he would have been immediately rearrested in Lagos and not made the de facto prime minister.

Q: Okay, let’s reason with common and not with emotions. Ojukwu was appointed as governor of the Eastern region by Ironsi in January 1966. From January to July 1966, Ironsi was head of state and Ojukwu was governor and Awolowo was not released.

A: Awolowo was charged for treason and sentenced to calabar prison by akintola and his northern slave masters who are the main target for the coup.

Q: Gowon took over after the July coup and ordered the release of Awolowo from prison. As at July of 1966, who was the head of state? Who was in charge of Federal prisons? If it was Ojukwu that released Awolowo, why was he not immediately arrested when he got to Lagos?

A: Ojukwu never recognized Gowon and also Ojukwu allowed all northern and western soldiers to return hence it's pure fact that Ojukwu released Awolowo from calabar prison.

Q: You mean Ojukwu woke up one day and order Awolowo’s release and boom, Awolowo was in Lagos the next day meeting with Gowon and not Ojukwu? How come it was the Gowon led Federal Government that gazetted the release of Awolowo and not Ojukwu’s Eastern region government ? Do you now see how silly you sound?

A: Ojukwu allowed northern soldiers to redeploy so releasing Awolowo shouldn't have been a big deal as you think.

I don't blame you for your ignorance, I blame the zoo government that abolished history for your kind.

How could he have released Awolowo when the vested powers for such lied solely on Gowon as HoS?

This is how you idiots lie continuously that the Ibo coupists intended to instal Awolowo as president .

You and your Ojukwu alongside everything breathing in your yeast are pathological liars.

If Ojukwu had the powers to grant Awo a pardon why then was Awo driven straight from Calabar prison to Dodan Barracks , Lagos to meet with Gowon?

There is an official gazette of Gowon granting Awolowo his freedom.

Can you publish any document showing Ojukwu gave the order to have Awo released ?

As at the time Awolowo was released, both Ojukwu and Gowon were Lt. Colonels and Ojukwu never recognised Gowon as his superior and as such didn't take orders from him. Gowon couldn't have ordered Ojukwu to release Awolowo from Calabar Prison and send him to Lagos. Only Ojukwu had the power to do so. Gowon even mentioned it in the decree he issued on 27th May, 1967- 9 months after Awolowo was released from the prison in Eastern Nigeria.
Gowon became the C-in-C on 27th May, 1967 and was promoted to Major General on the 1st of June, 1967.

Cannibal, Awo was convicted by a federal high court .

Illiterate, his offence bothered on treason and only the federal Attorney-General can prosecute such a case.

I will post Gowon's official edict declaring Awo pardoned.

In the event you can't find any official document by Ojukwu freeing Awo as you claim which I want to believe you will claim was lost during the war, kindly furnish us with archival press publications of Ojukwu freeing Awolowo.
