Mumu, at that point in time Federal Government did not exist in the East. Federal government was Gowon who didn't yet know his left from right. He was 2 days in a position he neither worked for nor asked for.
Besides all this, there were people who participated in Awo's release in the East (or are you saying Gowon went to the East personally and released him?). Those people collaborate Ojukwu's version of events!
