Good Afternoon

I will try and be brief as much as possible.

I work as an Accountant in a Manufacturing Private firm in Nigeria. My Annual gross salary is between 1.3M - 1.5M excluding other bonuses and benefits. I work from Monday through Saturdays with 30 Minute Break within each days. The firm is a big firm with a average monthly revenue of over 50M.

Here's the problem, there is no checks and balance in the firm,. i basically do almost all the work, i do procurement, Auditing, Accounting and even sales sometimes. this has given me a room to defraud the firm. for more than 48 Months now, I've defrauded the firm. I haven't touched my salary since then, I've been living with the proceeds i get from defrauding the firm. i made averagely over 200K a month from this fraudulent act. the scary thing is i control almost all the checks and processes, so the act of being caught is 'may' be impossible.

Deep down inside me, i feel guilt and hated myself for this but that urge of (Chilling with the Big Boys) wont just let me.. I've tried to convince the management to employ an auditor and other staffs but it all fall on deaf ears, (They claimed the work is moving so why incur more cost on Man Power. The MD/ BOD isn't even helping matters. they put unnecessary pressure on me to get some reports done within a short period of time. i hardly have time for myself not to talk of my family. i'm Married with a Boy of 2 years. I pray to God to help me stop this act. if not for anything for the sake of my Kid. I really want to stop deep down inside of me.

poor pay .instead of them to employ 4 people @200k they rather pay 120 and you steal 200k which is less than the 800k they should employ and pay .

Profit and losses, in fraud learn to rinse the the money.
I wouldn't blame you for your choices, but you can control what happens and how it happens.

Well, if I am in ur shoes I will ask for salary Increment. And if it's not done to my satisfaction, I will continue what I was doing before..

Everyday is for a thief but one day is for the owner. They go soon catch you, don't say I did not warn you o!

OP as someone suggested stop the stealing and invest that your salary that you have not touched according to your write up. Continue your work but desist from stealing and use the proceeds from the investment from the salary you have not touched as your payment for the extra work you are doing.
I can even tell you you that the management are aware of your dealings but as they are making profit they decided to continue dealing with the devil they know than sacking you for someone who will do worse.

Tomorrow you people will start crying that your country is gone. Now we are telling someone to do the right thing. Return all he has stolen and clear his conscience. It's not enough to just stop stealing. He has to put what he has removed back else that guilt would not go. And as long as that guilt remains, it's just a matter of time before he resumes stealing again.

Guilt is an evil thing in the conscience that makes people sin more and more.
The guilty heart contrary to what many people think does not stop you from doing crime, it fuels evil like mad. The guilty heart keeps saying, go do it again and ask God for forgiveness. OK, go do it again and ask for mercy. An unending cycle of sin. Until he is caught and disgraced

And you think they are not here and cant relate with this story?
If I was to be the MD, I could easily deduce that you are my accountant by mere ly reading this post.

What's your own escape strategy?!

Plan a sleek 3 to 6 months Japa plan to UK or US and move before you get caught

All you need... Cost of Tickets, Cost of Running your Account for Proof of Fund, Cost of Visa... Within 6 months pull a mega heists and run

You think your MD and others don't know you are stealing, but they do and when you are caught they would start adding their figures to what you stole

You might steal 1million, by the time you reach State CID the MD would claim you stole 19million

The company should also do the right thing by employing more staff instead of imposing the job of 4 employees on one person.

All these jobs that will bring the devil out of you! Please leave any job that can't pay you well, to the point where you start thinking of stealing. Why not have a job that can at least allow you to eat. They will discover your acts and disgrace you. What's the point of getting disgraced over a peanut paying job. Please leave before they frustrate you into becoming a professional thief. Try business, not everyone is into white or blue collar jobs.

I have been where you are. But God delivered me within 3 months in it, by taking me out of the job to a better place where such cannot happen. But try and stop today; you will feel better soon and be happy with yourself that you stopped!

Please stop stealing from your company and ask for a pay rise. If they say no, keep pushing for it from time to time until you get it. There's no justification for stealing from a company that helps you pay your bills.

There is nothing hidden that won't be revealed. It's either you invest the one you had already gotten and stop or it will magnet shame for you one day.

There is no shortcut in life, the one that sweets always backfire even though it takes longer time. The pain will be longer too.
