Try Monzo ,as it one of the easiest to set up for new immigrant as I have been using them for more than a year now and to my credit , 2000£ credit card (monzo flex ) was approved for me with less than 6 months of being in Uk .
You can use my referral link to earn 5£ for yourself and for me as well :https://join.monzo.com/c/24pgxrw

The only thing that seems to work in Nigeria, is corruption..........

Imagine listening to Nigerian news, the government would happily issue figures like 14 Billion of crude stolen monthly (been the headlines for over 12 months).........

And they are simply incapable of blocking this leakage......... Who is deceiving who........ 🤔😂

That's not right. Aside transparency of the process, one primary reason you can't swap a Nigerian Drivers licence with the UK is because of the right hand drive issue. Nigerian trained drivers would need additional training to learn RHD. Zimbabwe licence and some other African country can be swapped with UK license because they drive in the same Right Hand.

If Nigerian license is that bad, then they wouldn't allow Nigerian trained drivers drive on their roads for one year with their Nigerian license.

We no say naija no good but make we self dey calm down when criticising. Their many positives the country has

Your argument no too balance. If the issue if RHD then they wouldn't have allowed you to drive for one year in the 1st place. Anybody way don drive for one year don master the RHD so why require additional testing?

Many countries that drive on the opposite side of the road can convert, while some countries that drive on the same side of the road can't. I think one of the metrics they use to decide this is the "due diligence" required to obtain the license. Unfortunately, Nigeria scores quite poor in this area.

UK driving license is one of the most powerful in the world because of the due diligence required to obtain it.

I am not shying away from any truth or using emotions. I just made an assumption which I stated. That's what I thought.

Tier4Dependant:

Most of the countries allowed to exchange licenses drive on the same hand as Nigeria 😂😂😂😂

We all know the reason, why are we shying away from the truth. cheesy

Let’s deal with facts and not emotions or sentiments. I won’t rubbish my own if there is no reason to do so.

Besides, saying I don’t see Naija in that category isn’t rubbishing 🤦‍♂️
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by ubby26: 4:39pm On Sep 08, 2023
Thank you Goke for the clarity. Like I stated, it was what i assumed as I didn't know why.

Goke7:

That’s not true, with your permanent driver license from the uk you are allowed to drive or exchange your license in Canada and the US and they drive on the right in North America and not on the left like uk. If you say our not too transparent licence process in Nigeria is the problem then I agree.

You are just a very rude person.

I made an assumption and if it was incorrect, you could just say that and correct it, instead of assuming nonsense.
You don't know everything.

Good point, if our driving was so dvmb, we would not be allowed to drive for a year.
Yes there are differences in driving practices largely down to road layout and how tests are carried out but the ease at which our folks rubbish both their home nations and self worth is concerning. Sure, it shows up in differential attainment down the line. It's sad that the oyibo folks sometimes see more value in us than we actually see in ourselves. If our initial education was so useless, they'd be asking us to start primary school all over again.

The other day here, it was one euphemising the white man and how much of a 'god' he was while at thesame time denigrating himself. Bring back colonialism today, many Nigerians would vote in support.

Mirrors my comment earlier on perception. Sure if there are classes termed '10 steps to pass a driving test' e.t.c and you'd see immigrant folks trooping in because they believe a basic driving test is hard

We also had a baby boy last two weeks too and it was hectic finding where to circumcise but we finally got a Muslim private clinic led by a Dr called Ahmed. Below is their website “drahmedclinic.co.uk” but I will advise you reach out to the number in the website via WhatsApp which is more faster. It cost us 200£ for a date in sept 18th which you will need to pay an initial fee of 45£ as deposit and the rest on the d day.
Thanks

Good evening guys, users of loqbox, I’ve been using the standard £500 credit limit but it seems not to be enough job, I am thinking of switching to the £5000 credit limit plan to see how that would help build my credit score. Cheers

Get a credit card instead. Not sure Loqbox can increase their credit limit to you. Try applying for a credit card that allow you check eligibility before

Greater Manchester plenty and big. Just make sure you avoid the main city. I will suggest you fo Rochdale or Oldham and you can easily enter Manchester within 20 minutes for work. I would have recommended Altrincham but na oyinbo pepper full there and I don't think it is good for jjc

Experts in the house, please I need your help oh.

Just got a love phone call from Asda on not being successful for a graduate role.

Said something about me or doing well in the interview: said I talked a little fast, didn't sell my self well and all that.

Wasn't too surprised though, it just confirmed my suspicions that my interview skills has been the culprit on my inability to get a professional job. Don't know, something about my brain disconnected from my mouth when I'm talking in interviews after all the aptitude tests, phone interviews, screening etc

Can anyone point me to an online resource that might be of assistance in helping me understand how interviews are assessed here: way to talk, tone, pace, volume, body posture, being clear and logical enough, what to do if you don't have an answer to the question asked or not prepared for it etc.

I will appreciate.

Thanks.

Bros don’t over work yourself, maybe the job is not meant for you, just keep applying for as many jobs as possible. One must surely enter one day. Talking from my personal experience, I have a tick Benin ascent and I’m not too fluent in English as we mostly speak pigin in Edo . And God forbid make I form ascent because of say I dey talk to oyibo. But I just got a highly skilled job in one of the multinational companies here. I spend more time speaking on my CV and trying to cover most areas that they might want to ask me questions on. Then try get many scenario answers for your head. Using this word STAR- Situation Task Action and Result for your scenario answers

At some point you will get used to these rejections. Dont let it bother you, Just work more on you interviewing skills. Like someone earlier highlighted learn to use the STAR Method(if you dont already). Practise practise and practise some more. What many done know is that interviewing is a skill and can be developed. It comes naturally to some people, but to some others we have to put in extra effort. There are loads of resource on youtube that have sample scenario questions that you can adapt to fit the role you are applying for. Careervids, Amri Celeste -Interview coach are some of the good ones. You can also research the organisation on glassdoor, go to the interview section on glassdoor and you might be lucky to see someone paste previous interview questions they were asked on that role. You can use site: interview warmup to practise for your interview. Or you use the good old phone recording your self in your practise session. You will hear how you sound, and know how to remedy the areas you are weak. If you have OneNote on your laptop, It has a voice recording feature. I always advocate for students to start applying for roles long before they graduate. Use the time to test their interviewing skills and develop it if need be.

I got started with (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCm6JVtoRdo?si=F885v2T2q1ree48X).

I watched over and over and over again till I tired, I learnt so many things from this single video (don’t want to start mentioning it), at a point I downloaded the transcript of the video and read it to understand it more.

Lol, I mimicked him at a point in time.

You’ve got to learn a lot from his channel in general.

Meanwhile don’t relent, keep trying, lots of reason why we don’t get job easily (don’t want to go into this).

Hello everyone, I'm coming to the UK by the end of this week and I need help with accommodation. I'd appreciate a place with close proximity to Manchester because that's where my school is. I don't mind sharing the apartment with guys but I'd prefer an all female household. I'm really desperate because I don't have any friend or relative in that area. Don't ignore me please🙏
