Pension age is set to track life expectancy so that each generation expects similar proportion of life contributing to and receiving state pensions. Life expectancy has began to plateau (and even slightly dip) hence pension age would rise slower than before- from 66 right now to 68 in 2046. In same time, the number of people eligible and cost would baloon out.

At 500k, net migration is just about able to replace natural population decline .. but then, is migration really the answer?

You make a lot of good points on this topic, but I disagree that migration is being regarded or used by the government as some type of silver bullet to solve all of its public funding issues. Mass migration typically creates as many problems as it solves, so it's not the answer.

I hope the MPs can ask for some reductions. These increases are too much for families.
Does this mean IHS fee isn’t increasing?

Don’t have a confirmation for the ihs fees yet.

Reduction? Guy, all western nations are broke o. Pressure ti wa!

Question.
Is it possible to enter Nigeria with an expired Nigerian passport ? Or would it be quick to apply for visa with British PP instead?

Yes. At one point, they had posters in the arrival halls at MMA.

Shouldn't be a problem for you - try to renew when you are here as I hear TAT can be super fast.

Let me drop this maybe it might help.

Do you know that you can borrow someone your car or borrowed someone else car by just buying out an insurance (can be daily or weekly), I do use Veygo insurance.

Meanwhile, don’t forget to apply for Civil service job oh,

Been hearing lots of *yes* from friends, family & colleagues recently.

Almost all jobs titles and roles are there and if you don’t have experience don’t worry, just filter for Administrative officer roles (most don’t require experience), just apply for as many as possible.

Very fair recruitment process (infact one of the fairest I’ve ever seen, lol)

Don’t be deterred by writing personal statements

It's that time of the year when accommodation are choked, 2hioe you wait for a response, better plan towards plan B... Airbnb or hostel. Run a Google search for this and lock this down... E get why! Most likely when you arrive you will find it easy getting accommodation. You can also try Rightmove, Zoopla, Amber Students and other online platforms for student accommodation. All the best.

Okay, I have actually got one. Thanks

Good morning everyone

Please I need your opinion on how best to handle my current end of tenancy issue.

I am to vacate my current house 29th September as agreed in the assured shorthold tenancy agreement.

I have been contacted by the lettings on the 25th of June to notify me of the landlord's intention to sell the house hence he's not interested to renew my contract. But unfortunately I have not bee able to secure another apartment due to the current housing crisis. Securing accommodation seems like war these days.

I have been in contact with the lettings and the property coordinator to explain the situation but they insist the landlord doesn't want an extension. The lettings branch office have been trying to help as well but nothing is forthcoming from their end.

How best do you think I can handle this without unnecessary legal tussle?

Elders and experienced bosses, abeg I need your contributions.

Thanks and Regards.

The process begins from one's school notifying Home office of successful completion of study by the student and advise on the process to apply for the PSW visa. You can't just go on to apply directly without these process completed.

You never get you never get be that naaaa ...they can't come and throw out your belongings like they do in Naija. Besides winter is fast approaching, there's a law against a landlord evicting tenants during that period. Let them begin the legal process to evict you. But you need to also step up your effort in getting a place, no go de try use Naija style here oooo cheesy

My good people, please I have a question. For a student who is traveling to the UK (Birmingham) to be precise, do they need a transit visa if they fly the likes of KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, etc.) since most of these flights have stop over at these destinations? I appreciate your responses.

Provided you will pass border control, you will need transit visa

That has lapsed. It was for the Covid Winter period, IIRC.

donplus1 - the landlord has no obligation to extend your rent whether or not you find another place in so far as the term has expired and they've given you notice, which by your narration they've even exceeded.

The landlord cannot come and boot you out immediately but they can initiate eviction proceedings and secure a court order to evict you by force if necessary, and they might also be awarded costs against you, to cover their expenses in initiating the case.

Bear in mind that in the scenario above you'd have destroyed your chance of getting a good reference.

Ultimately, the only thing you can do is to step up your efforts to get a new place, and engage with your landlord to get them to extend you more time.

Well relax on applying for more cards for now. Take more action to make your financial transactions more visible to the credit reporting platforms. You can report your rents using this https://www.creditladder.co.uk/join/4kN2nMj0DmjpABDL

For those who would like to work in care

Number of sponsorship giving care homes, 688+ according to the excel file on gov.uk website. I know there will be more depending on search term used

Impossible to apply to 688 places and not get 1 if you have basic experience and know the questions they ask

wink
