the silent prayer is that God please don’t let my mother or father fall sick within this 10 to 15 year timespan or else I am most likely never going to see them again.

whether you are in your mother's house or in space. MAMA & PAPA MUST DIE ONE DAY and your being around can't change it.
You can travel back after they are gone IF YOU HAVE TO.

I know it takes time to settle down abroad but not up 10-15 years. If you plan your Japa very well, a max of two years is enough for you to settle down if you are prudent.

If you Japa without a skill and all you hope for is to go and do menial jobs on the street, it will be difficult. Before you Japa do your homework very well

Maybe for people who entered through illegal route. 10-15 years to settle what? Same year you entered sef you can go back home for a visit if you so wish.
If you have your money for flight you can go to Naija as you wish, the only hindrance will be your job.

There are many Nigerians in the same Uk who got work permit to work as auditors, nurses, tech , doctors,HR etc directly from Nigeria. There is post graduate work permit of 2 years for students who graduated. Many that could not get job after studies settled for care work 5 years work permit. All these categories listed above can travel to Nigeria at will.

Only people who cant leave are illegal immigrants whose visas have expired. Some of them could not come home for their own weddings talkless of burial. Abeg what is the big deal there now Person wey stay country illegally doesn’t have a choice na. This topic no follow.
If someone goes to the UK with his/her spouse through work visa, how many years can the person stay there legally after completing the degree(post graduate)

I posted the video of an optimistic guy , I would look for the video, who promised his mother he would not be like his brother who had been abroad for 30 years and has never come home , and that she should not worry that after 1 year he would return and come and buy her house, 8 years later the guy is in YouTube crying that he does not have papers yet and he hasn’t seen his mother since then and he couldn’t fulfill that promise. Please if anyone can find that video post it here. People are complaining bro. Question is are yyouu listening ?

There is plenty money abroad.
Lot of money.
Be wise.

If you don't have papers to visit your parents, you can bring them to visit you in abroad.
Old people get visa easily.

work visa and study visa are two different things. On work visa you need to live and work there for 5 years to qualify for permanent stay. For study visa too you must work in uk legally for 5 years to qualify for ILR

Why dont you add a caveat to your post? The title is misleading. You could have simply said For illegal Japarians.

I don't see why you can't travel to and fro Nigeria if you're a legal immigrant but as usual, agenda must agend.

And it's not like it's your own personal experience. Amebo!
doesn’t have to be illegal. You could be stuck because of too many bills. No savings

More reason you don't japa illegally. If you go through normal route, you won't have to be running from pillar to post.

The simple rule of life is never to live above your means, whether you're in Nigeria or ndi abroad. And if there's so much bills to be paid, plus no savings to show for, that's really on the person.

A case of penny wise, pound foolish.

A man is not blessed in his comfort zone. If you really want to succeed you have to numb your emotional ties and fracture some relationships.
Like a child hearing from a faraway land that his mother is at home dying in pains helplessly undecided, the jakpa thing doesn't make sense most times. Use 8M to jakpa just to start a new life in an eldorado without the assurance of getting it back in the next 10-20yrs. The blacks are yet to be free from their colonists, the whites have enslaved the black man mindset for life angry

So this topic has to be explored because I know many people personally under this category. Now I don’t know about other countries but let’s focus on the UK for this topic.

I know that unless you are extremely lucky it is going to take you between 10 to 15 years to fully settle in terms of papers and money and career and housing etc. in between that time you are running from pillar to post and the silent prayer is that God please don’t let my mother or father fall sick within this 10 to 15 year timespan or else I am most likely never going to see them again.

Well I have many friends and relatives who this happened to. In that time span that they are still unsettled and looking for paper or money, mama get cancer for naija. They are stuck abroad. Mama eventually die. So they never got to see their mother for over 10 years and will never see her again.

So I guess the question is if you find yourself in a situation like this, being in the UK for over 8 years and papers never correct so you are stuck, then you hear that your mother is dying.

WHAT DO YOU DO? DO YOU ABORT MISSION AND RETURN BACK TO NIGERIA TO BE WITH YOUR DYING MOTHER KNOWING YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO RETURN TO THE UK AGAIN OR DO YOU JUST FASHI MAMA AND LET HER DIE WHILE YOU CoNTINUE YOUR QUEST TO LOOK FOR PAPERS AND POUNDS ? What would you do?

The question should be what route the person used to “JAPA”. My sister is on a work visa in the UK and she comes home whenever she wants especially when she applies for work leave. Same with my cousin’s in the UK. They come to Nigeria to attend weddings, burials and birthday parties.
P.S They are not Uk citizens yet.

The fact that you know many people whom this has happened to is a reflection of the poor quality of your circle, not the general reality for people who travel abroad. It's because those people are entering the country illegally that it takes them decades to 'fully settle in terms of papers'.

People who enter the country legally and have their papers from day 1 are free to, and often do travel around the world, including Europe, the US, and wherever else including back home to Nigeria to visit as they wish, whether they're students or workers or whatever else.

So, dear Mr. Sukkot, make new friends or get new family members who don't go about traveling illegally, and you'll stop hearing these kinds of stories, and boring us with them as well.
Rich kid, rich friends cycle we sight you.
Zero humanity is in you, it is your type that sees his fellow man dying and won’t even bother to look or help and because according to you they deserve it. Selfishness is fully embedded in you

You know a lot of people love negativity and the interesting thing about such people is that they never really progress in life. Just remain in mediocrity until they die abd waste away. This op is one of them.

The person that was in UK and couldn't come home for him mama burial is it because he could not afford tickets? because that is the only time u can't come home. How much is air fare from UK to Nigeria that such useless fellow could not afford?

It is only when u get into the UK through Libya or something very very illegal and you consider yourself a fugitive that it will take upto 10 years for you to find your footing. That lime about 10 to 15 years is a huge lie.

To the OP, your perspective on this topic you raised is not difficult to see. You are a very negative person and in ur entire life, u may not really see anything good in this life because you have to be very positive go succeed.

One of our guys from school in Nigeria that started internship in a Canadian law firm some years ago built himself up to buy the lawfirm after becoming a citizen and even change the lawfirm to Osuji and Co lawfirm. He is one of the most prolific lawyers in Canada. He drives a Gwagon and is the only black man that drives such where he lives. These are the kind stories I like to focus on.

The question I have is this. Why is it that most people with dual citizenship rather reside and work in Nigeria. But those who are Nigeria citizens are struggling to japa abroad. It's kinda funny. Can someone explain why?

Please like what skills and courses?

bigadler:

You're đź’Ż on point. The OP only painted an illegal immigrant's experience, cos 10-15 years for what?

I've been into relocation and study abroad services and I can tell you from experience that some Nigerians love shortcuts, which later become longcuts.

When you tell some Nigerians to invest just 1 year learning a skill or doing a course that would help them get a good job abroad, they think it's too long, so they opt for the fast option of using a tourist visa. They get there and can't do any legal work and they have to spend over a decade settling in a foreign country.
