Cancel the direct debit. Cancel. Cancel. Cancel.
Open ur bank app and do it this moment.
Also lodge the complaint using those keywords. This is the UK. This is wicked. Open ur bank app and cancel it. 4200 pounds for pots . Jesus Christ.

You caused this.
Three reasons why your tongue was tied then and you could not talk and that’s why they took advantage of you people.
1. You paid for COS so already they know u are desperate and can not distinguish pressure buying
2. They used yoruba style to enter you, based on respect you could not say your mind and decline to their face
3. JJC . A lot of people fall victims just for been newcomers . So this reason happens quite alot

I can tell you for free that as long as it is coming out from ur card, start by deleting it now. No one can force you to pay a direct debit payment and then continue via the complaints route.

A cancelled direct debit could go as a missed payment on his record.

This is soothing to the ear o. I have over 10 years experience as a Relationship Manager with three banks from Nigeria but currently working in a warehouse for now, I will appreciate any advice on any industry to focus my professional job search on.

I passed NatWest bank interviews here and currently waiting for their offer, but I really don't want to do sales anymore in UK jare. We don do marketing tire for Nigeria.

I know there'll be guys here who were once in my position but better off now, ur advice would be appreciated please.

Consider roles that have Communications, Stakeholder Engagement, L & D etc in the titles as you'll be able to show strong transferable skills.

Nope. I have cancelled several dds for good reasons. … And once the company comes back to me, we take it from there. They can not force the payment from one’s bank account.
Nothing has gone to any records. Pls let’s stop fear mongering.

Hm.

A DD for an ongoing service like a gym or subscription is very different from a DD attached to a credit agreement.

This one is the latter, and if he stops it, it could reflect as a default on his credit record. He needs to check if the credit agreement is already on his credit record - if it is, then it would not be prudent to stop it on his own.

Hello everyone,
Please I need advice.
I'm in a situation and i need advice on how to opt out.
So my uncle wife took advantage of my wife because of too much respect. (wifey bleeped up big time). We recently moved close to them because she's the one who helped us with COS. She recommended a cooking pot (salad master) as we needed to set up the house and kitchen, but i declined immediately after i heard the price (4200 pound DD payment for 4years for 5pcs set.)
During the chat, i discovered she'll get about 500quid referral and thats why she's desperate for us to buy it. The discussion happend about 3 other times and my response was no. My uncle got involved at a point and he also supported her wife because that's what they use too but i insisted. Then she turned to my wife and start to convince her but we'd already discussed and it was a NO.
Fast forward to a month after, my wife was in their house sleeping, she then woke her up only for her to see the pot has been supplied, and they were already cooking with it for her induction and to use it. In the prescense of the supplier, my wife tried telling her we've already discussed this many times and we were not interested but she cut her and told her since they were already cooking with it, we cant opt out. She couldnt call me because she wasn't with her phone. She ensured all the paper works was done and DD was set before she let her near her phone. My wife has so much regard for her and that's why she couldn't say NO. Too much respect...

I got to know that day and i got mad at her, how can you let her lure you into a 4k financial engagement despite several discussions, she just dey cry and she was preggy....

I immediately told her to come take the pot but the supplier said no way, DD has been set and there's no going back)(dey don plan am.)
Bleep up i did was, i should've rang the company directly but i just gave up because i dont want issues between me and egbon.
Now, COS no get shift, there's no work in cardiff at all and all the load is on me. DD is 94quid per month and it's choking.

Here is my question, is there anything i can do to opt out legally? we're 6 months into the contract and it feels like forever, i dont mind losing 1k just to opt out, but i dont wanna do this no more... We can't afford with the all the bills and expenses we already have.

It's tiring...
I look forward to ya'lls suggestions

Unfortunately, you did not exercise your '' right to reject '', within the legal framework allowable by your consumer protection rights........

You are now stuck, that credit agreement would be your undoing...... Even if you went to a small claims court........

Your only options - :
- Breach the agreement
- The name(s) on the agreement, would be blacklisted. Your credit report would have a massive red mark......
- When they take you to court, plus all court charges and administrative costs..... Expect them to add another £1500 (or close enough), to end balance..........

::::: View this experience as signing credit agreement lesson 101........

Hello good people, please I would like to clarify an information even though I understand it may have been discussed here before.

Please can a tier 2 visa holder open a stock and shares account to buy etfs and earn dividends? Does this violate their visa rule in any way if it’s just for investment purposes but will be earning? Will this be considered a form of trading please?
I was in this dilemma as well and was using T212 at the time. I contacted them several times via email and chat about it, their response was consistent that I can "buy" stocks on the platform without violating the visa rules. Now see the confusion; my question was can I continually trade without violating visa rules? Their response was I can continually buy without violating visa rules.

I didn't know if the use of the word buy in their response as opposed to trade in my question was intentionally so I closed my account with them and opened a new account in my wife's name since my wife is a dependent and does not have restrictions on doing several work or earning extra income.

I had to give up because of Wifey's condition. The most painful thing was I later discovered that I could actually return it within 14days of buying it, but they lied because of the referral they wanna get. I just need a legal way to opt out. Otisumi

When your wife sabi say they're pushing the pot onto her, why she go sleep for their house? So your wife get respect for her uncle pass you? E no make sense.

Painful...

In retrospect, read the terms and conditions of these kind of contracts no matter how bulky it may be, you would have seen your right to cancel within 14 days. A genuine org would mention this to you but I doubt these guys will.

As the pressure was getting too much, I would have just dash my uncle's wife the £500 let the matter die.

Unfortunately, it will be wise to fulfill the contract to the end, you uncle and his wife have lost their respect, if I were you, if they don't have the power to revoke the COS or affect your continued stay in UK, take the pot to them let them be seeing it everyday in their house as a reminder of their wickedness, cast them to other family members that they ganged to scam you guys, cut ties with them because they have scammed you once, they will scam you again.

Investment of any kind is not illegal under the skilled worker visa. After all everyone is allowed to open and invest in government-enabled stocks and shares ISAs, and even get the bonus in stocks and shares LISAs.

The restriction is on work. So taking additional employment and being paid for work performed.

This was my only regret. I was just too mad to make the right decision or necessary step. I immediately told my uncle wife to come carry her pot and it led to a massive argument that night, she said since they've cooked with it, there's no going back, my wife also rang the dealer the next day and she said the same thing.

I should've brought the matter here or look them up online and give them a shout, I never did. I believe I my argument can be based on the fact that they lied that we can't return it when we had 14days cooling period to get out of the contract.

Note that the DD is on Wifey's account but I've been the one paying it.

There are some things that don't require much patience and/or understanding. You tackle such things head-on, no matter what. The day that thing happened gangan na im all yam and pepper suppose don scatter. I still can't believe op got roped into paying such a sum successfully. To say NO and damn all consequences easy funmi baje baje. As most have outlined, only option that won't have future consequences would be to contact the company to discuss amicable way (if any) to opt out and cut his losses, since the allowable time per the agreement has long elapsed (6 months is a long time, so I also don't think waging war with the company fit work). If dem no gree, e be things be that.

As Elder Lexus has said. CREDIT AGREEMENT 101 and I also second the advise of Virus, Take that pot to your uncle's house and leave it there, you may be lucky guilt tripping might work and they may come to agreement with you on way forward forthe payment and if they don't, they are really evil, Stay away from them.
