The analyst is talking trash. Can a CBN governor adjust demand and supply volume. They can only try to manage how demand is matched to limited supply. Emefiele was doing the right thing but when politics of scapegoating is more important than performance, we get what the current admin is doing.
I must say that this data is incomplete because he never provided data to show demand and supply level against actual supply of forex to CBN plus today, demand has been swelled by awareness of commercial opportunities via media. How many mini importers were in Nairaland under Sanausi and Soludo?
What was the volume of forex needed for petrol, raw material and machinery imports? His data are partial as far as this topic is concerned.

Peter Obi does not see people here as useless.
Nigerians with good senses voted for Peter Obi and he won the presidential election, as ethnoreligious bigots divided their votes between Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso. That's why INEC ditched the system of electronic transmission of votes results from after INEC saw that Obi was leading the other three with a very wide margin, Imagine in what type of country would the election umpire vow that it would not use any other method except system of electronic transmission of vote results, but after voters had cast their votes and left, the umpire went for the discarded manual transmission of votes results. It's like an election in a jungle...

Economics, Bank and Finance and Management are the fields that could effectively handle a macro economy.

You don't necessary need to be an Economist, as long as you are from the above area of specialization and you're good at what you do, then no issues as those courses can easily be intertwined.

There is a big gulf between marketing, looking at numbers and planning, and forecasting for a national economy

CBN is not child's play.

Macroeconomics is not balance sheet or profit and loss account.

You need to understand developmental economics at the doctorate level to be effective at that level.

In a highly political world were people are willing to take credit for circumstantial gains. Let data for demand vs supply be provided side by side and let's hear what Soludo could have done differently. Was it not Soludo who capitalized a dozen banks with $6 billion again? Where will emefiele or the new guy get such amount from if they decide to do same today?

Lets learn to balance circumstances and expectation.

My exact same sentiments!!!!!

An Economist thinks of making things better and not profiting for a select few like Banker Meffyboy was doing.

That being said, an enabling environment is also needed to reduce the effects of inflation.

Decades ago, we should have been planning how to ensure that businesses are birthed and thrive in Nigeria.

I pray the anointing and spirit of an Economist falls on the new CBN Governor.

I think a lot of people so easily forget that the first job of the CBN is to regulate the banks. The position is made for a banker. Directing monetary policy is secondary, and in fact, it is not even complex. Banks are at the heart of the economy so the idea that a leading banker would not have a solid grasp of economics is baffling.

It is a global economy. The data analysis should be based on the global economy as other economies of the world are battling inflation this period as well. From UK, US, Canada to Australia, it is the same story. Nigerian is not an isolated case.

That is why she was able to acts as the minister in charge of the economy, while also acting as a finance minister.

She was doing some of the duties of cbn Governor and the finance ministry at the same time.

That is what an economist get you.

An accountant or banker is Limited.

ALHAJI Atiku is not bad to be honest. Compared to Tinubu the fraud. His age is my problem. I just wished they(Peter obi and Atiku) can work together.

Not necessarily. But you have a point. This question has not been settled even in advanced industrial economies. There was some controversy over the current US central bank governor because he has no degree qualifications in economics.

True about the understanding part. But having the degree isn't necessarily a requirement, although most developed economies lean towards someone with a doctorate in economics. But work experience sometimes tips the scale.
