You see how matured you took it to know the politicans in Nigeria are cursed ?

But instead of one fool in the page one to see the point of the op he insulted a whole tribe and you tell me these people are sophisticated?

@bolded, now you have joined him. He acted as an individual and should answer for his crimes, not his ethnic group. "Those people" didn't send him message.

The double distinction of being the shortest rail line in Nigeria and also the most unviable as it connects one white elephant calf to an adult white bull elephant.

I remember when Tinapa was on the front page and all hell would break loose every time someone stated how foolish an idea it was. Almost 2 decades later, we do see results but it is supposed to be a major cautionary tale for all it has been conveniently placed on the backburner and that is part reason why the number of white-elephant projects has ballooned and continues to even since then. If Rochas for instance, had used the money he invested in Statues to build a state-wide network of libraries, the locals would have benefitted so much more from that than from that foolishness wey him install. I seriously think that Rochas ought to be stripped naked and flogged in front of those statues at least on every anniversary of the inauguration of those statues so no one else would ever make that mistake at least in the Eastern States!

β–  Ohu, did Obi not flag off a ghost elephant project in the name of Onistha light rail? The phantom Calabar -Tinapa monorail commissioned by Duke is up there .
That project cost Cross River millions in consultancy fees. The same applies with Obi's phantom Onistha mono rail project.
What we recall of this was that Obi signed an MOU agreement with a Canadian company with the Funds, execution and management coming from the company itself. Why should it be included as a white-elephant project project it was never realized? Are you of the mind that Anambra as it does is not overdue for a developed local rail system at this point in time or what? undecided

Make I hear word.

You think there won't have been funds earmarked by state government in singling out a partner to sign an MOU with ?

The legal fees ,survey work , and other sundry expenses leading to the MOU would have come from the Anambra state government .

Again, according to the 2010 report, the MOU that was signed between the government and the company towards the millennial project stipulated that the company would fund the project from start to finish and eventually hand it over to the state probably after it had recouped its investment. Anambra, Globim sign MoU for monorail in Onitsha. If you have proof that none of this was the case, present it or forever hold your peace. undecided

And you think the Anambra state government didn't set aside funds for their own assesment of the project ?

There would have been a proposed route that would require survey work by state government ministry of transport and compensation would have been drawn out if not paid to fictitious property owners

Nah today ?

Why do you think an adminstration will complain that it's predecessor never paid compensation as claimed .

Do you also not know that Anambra state government would have set aside money to be paid to these shell front as part of their survey work?

And you are considering a scam MOU signed with nothing to show on ground after its signing as proof that there was no wrongdoing ?

You have a lot to learn.

There is no way a company will sign a contract for free without at least having their initial feasibility and legal fees paid by the client.

All these useless MOUs are how state governors scam the public .

These are paper projects that one can best desceibe as ghost works.

Even Elephant projects are far better as there is something on ground to show for it

Duke did a similar scam in Calabar with the Calabar Airport -Tinapia rail project if you go to Margret Ekpo Airport by the car park you will see a commissioned plaque that was officially flagged off by Obasanjo. There was an MOU signed by Duke and a foreign firm to construct this ghost project as well and it even had the then President Obasanjo kick off its construction.

Stop acting naive. This is one of the ways state governors fleece the public treasury after paying bogus fees as part of preliminary work for a project they know they will never ever start talk more of completing.

In the absence of crude deposits in the north. Let's have a refinery as compensation. You can imagine laying pipes from Niger Delta area to Kaduna just to proof a point.
