Even East Africans can be easily identified, whether they're black or are of mixed ethnicity... Majority of them have one thing in common, which is a big forehead.

Are you sure there isn't that one feature that your women have in common even if they're dark or light skinned, or even thin? It could be the nose, eyes, ears, or even hands, anything.

West and central Africans are the Normal people. That is, they are used as reference point to the others. I think this is because most of the slaves taken from Africa during the slave trade were from both regions so westerners are usually stunned when they see a different set of features compared to the ones they are used to. For example, a large number of african Arabs in the middle East also have Eastern African features becos of the Arab slave trade in ancient times.
