Wes Anderson is no longer the filmmaker I used to love. He is becoming a caricature of himself. His recent short films further confirmed my fears. Ever since he made grand Budapest hotel, he has become more extreme in his approach to his style. Though the framing, composition, and color grading remain true to his style, the characters, dialogue delivery, and execution are getting bland with every movie. We used to get eccentric characters but who are still very relatable from him. But what he churns out now are characters that are monotonous, unlively, and robotic. The characters act the same way in almost all situations. The dialogue delivery too are getting worse by the day with characters just talking without emotions. Even emotional scenes he used to make in a quirky way (but still very much relatable) are now done blandly. This leaves me to wonder, what happened to the man who gave me Rushmore, Fantastic mr fox, The Royal Tenebaums, The Darjeeling Limited, the grand Budapest hotel, moonrise kingdom? If this is an evolution for him, I guess I will keep going back to cherishing his old movies. Perhaps, it will take me time to adjust. Am I being too dramatic? I don’t know. Ballerina.....8/10 Koreans know how to make female led movies... If it's Hollywood now, they'll turn this to gender war... Anyway...a good revenge action movie... Thoroughly enjoyed it as I expected I would since I saw the trailer... Koreans don't disappoint 2 Likes 2 Shares

The Founder:8/10 Genre: Drama, Biopics The captivating biopics of Ray Kroc's and his creation of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain, which eventually involved him forcing out the company's original founders the (McDonald's brothers) to take control with conniving ruthlessness. Sound of Freedom.....7/10 Emotional bait Despite this movie being popular, I had no idea what it was about. I always assumed it was some military based movie. Anyway, I respect their work in shedding light on the human-trafficking market especially children being bought and sold... Truly this is something that the Society tends to overlook. I didn't even imagine it was that rampant before I saw the movie. Good job from the producers 3 Likes

THE BLACK BOOK --- 4.5/10 A movie with an in-depth, relatable story that joined its colleagues at the sacrificial altar of poor execution, thanks enormously to; * Poor emotional weight * Unappealing musical scores * Fake or plastic actions * Fake and laughable explosions * Sacrilegious gunshots * Poor actings even for RMD and Sam Dede * Ridiculous mining scene CGI... everyone knows that was a board behind the insider. * Lack of tension and curiosity * Dry and boring storytelling. In summary, $1M (if the reports are true) --- approximately one billion naira --- was flushed down the toilet. Back in days, I used to state that the problem of Nollywood wasn't lack of funds, but rather lack of creativity in storytelling or execution. I was vehemently opposed, but it seems our Nollywood brethren are making me a prophet. I have a lot to say, but let me shut the fück up before I will be termed, UNPATRIOTIC.
