90/100. When my light goes off for more than 2 hrs, just know that it’s a problem from the transmission station or it’s because of heavy rain fall… my light stay for 3 days sometimes

Good morning Nairalanders,

Based on the report that, the federal government have increased the National grid from 13,000MW to 14,000MW.

What is the light situation in your area currently? Is it constant or still bad?

Guaranteed at least 16hrs/day

We are now over 6 months without light. Reason is, the transformers in my area were vandalised, and the oil reportedly scooped, by persons suspected to be even PHCN staff themselves (if not, who knows where the oil is located and where it is sold?). Now, they are expecting us to contribute (about #2m plus) to fix the thing, if not, we no go see light forever.

Ours is a rotten system.

Where is your local government chairman?

Where is your state house of assembly member?

Where is your federal rep member?

Where is your senate rep member

Nigeria is a walking dead country

That's because the governor lack ideas, he lack tenacity and he's a failed governor....

Who do lagos have constant light and Ogun state that is close doesn't have?

Do you know how much they generate internally?

Dapo is just an opportunist

You may not believe it but Maiduguri would rank amongst top most peaceful cities in Nigeria today.

This 1GW is not for the masses, it is for industrial and commercial users. Power in my area is about 3 hours daily.

Still very poor, considering the cost of fuel ⛽️

l swear abeokuta is cursed with light issues. Imagine enjoying light at ayobo and also bola, at Ibadan and going to asero, abeokuta and not seeing light during the day for almost one month except sometimes at midnight (when someone has gone far)

My brother, Dapo is a failure in everything...

The guy doesn't know anything, if you become the governor of Ogun state, you will perform more than him, despite their internally generated revenue and their close proximity to lagos and IB

I will go first..

My family house at both obalende and around tinubu both in Lagos Island are enjoying almost 24hours..

My office in lekki phase1, they are also enjoying almost 24hours light..

But you see my house in abeokuta, no light there at all, precisely Elega, no light there for the past 1month, and if it comes, it will just be for 2hours and it won't come again, till another 1-2month, this is how it has been since Dapo abiodun came to power
Seriously improving.

Stable electricity for months now both at Office and at home, Ikoyi Lagos Island.

Ogun state is seriously experiencing Epileptic Power Supply, specifically Power Line "11", days go by without electricity even for 3hours.

Power Line 33 is atleast seeing electricity for few hours daily in the same Ogun ungoverned state tongue
repeat the post it's no clear is it 11 hours uninterrupted power supply

Has nothing to do with the governor actually. It's all about the capacity of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). You can see that most areas under their network Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara are struggling with availability of electricity. The problem is that asides IKEDC, EKEDC, Abuja DISCO and maybe PH Disco, others are serving pretty poor states, so they are struggling with their revenue profile, so no money to invest.

I won't argue with you, there's constant light in Ogun state, Oyo State also enjoy some considerable amount of electricity...

Dapo is just a failed governor, being close to Lagos is enough to tap into alot of positive things to move the state forward

If your school is unilorin and you stay in tanke then you lie! Only Awolowo axis is enjoying light now in Tanke
Skyller:
Before I left school in Ilorin, there was always light for 70 to 80% of the day.
Same thing when I got to Ibadan.
There’s room for improvement btw

Capacity and Generation are two different things. Besides the headline is also wrong. Its not National grid capacity that has grown to 14,000MW. Its actually installed generation capacity.

However, electricity is much better in Lekki, Lagos. In Ologolo area of Lekki in the past 3months, we've been averaging 20hrs a day.
Lagos will naturally benefit more from the improvement because Lagos has more people with capacity to pay.

You are right about Lagos...

But what is the essence of having a prepaid meter when you still don't have light?

Or the reason why they distributed prepaid meter is not to monitor how much light people consume and pay for what they use?

I'm sure that your house at Abeokuta is not on prepaid meter

I stay in a new house, and 50% of house in that area are new, so all the 50% of houses have prepaid meter and 25% from the old house also have prepaid meter..

Is a personal research I did
