I don’t think the minority shareholders will be saying anything. Oando will report to the court on its compliance with its order

which compliance are they reporting on? They have offered something (7.07) but not called a meeting for the minority to accept or reject, so where is the compliance?

The case would be adjourned with no fixed date of rehearing
Most likely scenario to play out

Meaning no more buyout?

Meaning no more buyout?
More time for wale to re strategize. Pushing through with the buyout now could prove difficult under prevailing conditions

Oando is crossing the N10,00 mark again today, in spite of the court case oooo!
Some folks seem to know more about this Oando stocks!
If the court case does not lead to a fall in price today, then there could be another round of mad rush for Oando.

Thank you for advising on a book that offers strategy on how to invest in stocks that increase in value. However, it hardly answers the simple question: what makes a stock significantly rise on the NSE?

Many things make stocks to significantly rise on the NSE.
The fundamental thing that makes a stock rise on the NSE and any where in the world is sustained rise in earnings per share over time and an outlook that earning levels will be sustained and not be cut short.

I think you need reason and punch calculator before nasty comment. I sold pounds @ N1,000 and it is around N1,230 which is about 25% depreciation and my portfolio appreciated above 100%.
Must you stoop so low? Why use the word NASTY to an elder in this game?

ETI group chairman, Alain Nkontchou buys N1.5bn shares via proxy.

What is Ecobank cooking in the kitchen? Is the stock getting set for a massive rally?

That is part of the plan.

I did a little calculation, but before that I want to point out that the Nigerian market can be predicted to a large extent, although it requires a lot of patience and observation. Some notable stocks that would have been almost sure bankers for an astute investor are GTCO, DANGSUGAR, and some other banking stocks. By this time last year, the picture would have started to become clearer.

Now back to the calculation. ₦25 million, which was £25,000, was doubled, and now he can sell off and enter sukuk or long-term bonds at 14% minimum. After ten years, his ₦50 million (after the double) would amount to ₦113 million, while the same pound at 4.5% would be £34,000 at the end of 10 years. The naira would need to fall above ₦3,320 per pound for him to do worse in the next 10 years.

grin grin grin

What of if he converts the funds back to pounds after he sells off and waits for other opportunities in the nse that will definitely present itself in the next 5 to 10 years , surely he should do better than 113 m while limiting his exposure to naira devaluation ?

I heard the Court has adjourned Oando's filing of Scheme of Arrangement to Nov 28

Peddling anti-Oando news?
These are inconsequential matters.

Easy. All real news and events (bad, neutral and good) affecting the company need to be shared to give bargain hunters more info on their bets. Todays OANDO trade has been choppy. Moving from more bids to more offers when the big bulls pulled out during trading session.

Looks like that may be the reason the big bids dropped. Leaving offers to out number bids.

That was opportunity for short timers that wanted to run for their lives...

OANDO has both gamblers and investors... You are either one of the two or the two...

Choose yours wisely...

The big bids that pulled out were bidding lower than current trading prices. The biggest bids are currently at N8.30 grin Perhaps those that want to speculatively invest don't want to pay off gamblers, traders and whatever too much profit. As the coast is foggy.

You can't beat wale in this game.He is a lawyer. The 14 minority shareholders is still wale left hand in action. The only thing that will come out of all this is small adjustment in the buy out price from wale if he has decided to delist.....no agm(social gathering) can stop him and his partners.

Note:will still buy oando if I see it at #5.00

They deliberately shifted the date to after Supreme court Presidential election judgement. Because they are not sure of where Atiku is dragging Tinubu and his Certificate to.

Other minority shareholder groups should also serve notice of Court action, as a pre-emptive strategy to checkmate Wale.
There has been enough time (since around March 2023) for other shareholder groups to mobilize and protect the ordinary investors, at least by ensuring that they object to the delisting. That would counter and technically put an end to the current Court action by the 14 minority shareholders, and then make Oando (or Wale and his partners) to initiate their own actions to delist, and then the ''6 months maximum price '' rule would kick in, which would make the buyout share to be N16.00 by CAMA/SEC rules, instead of N7.07

Let's wait and watch. They may have their plans.

Perhaps also to give more time to release 2022 audited and 2023 quarterlies.

The question is: Will the naira devaluation exceed the 14% minimum annual return that he will make on a Nigerian bond? We don't know. But I know that if the money is held in at 14% in sukuk, the naira has to fall to above 3200 naira to a Pound for him to do worse, assuming that the UK bond maintains a 4.5% return over the course of 10 years.

If you spot an opportunity within the 10-year period, the bond can still be sold. Better still, the yearly proceeds can be invested in the stock market or other bonds.

Again, this is one way to play it. There are multiple ways to approach this. Besides diversification, our work is to determine the one that makes the most sense and exposes us to the least risk. AI, some algebra, and Excel can give us some insights. grin grin grin
