Hazard was never in the race. He never had the sustained productivity in terms of goals to take the mantle.

Neymar is the one that missed out. He was Brazilian, had the productivity, the flair, the looks. He just didn’t have the psychotic dedication of those 2 football gods.

Apart from the money you also need people with that psychotic mindset, and you need at least 2 of them at the same time to push each other. Neither Messi or Ronaldo would have achieved the superhuman levels they reached if not for the other person being there as a rival. At their peaks even 50 percent of what they did would have won the Ballon d’Or at other times.

The guy needs to be checked by a doc. Get blood tests done (thyroid, hormones, diabetes screening, cholesterol). Also needs to carry out an STI check, rule out heavy alcohol intake, recreational drug use. If all these are normal then it is probably psychological, though he probably needs to tone down the heavy lifting as this might contribute. Hopefully he also does not worship at the shrine of Onan.
