If true Christianity was not lost along the way, and the Roman Catholic didn't take over the church, JWs organization wouldn't be here today.

Since there was no church or group adhering to the pure doctrines of the Bible, the churches existing were heavily influenced by the Roman Catholics dogmas, Russell started questioning their strange doctrines and formed a group for the extensive study and research of the scripture.
