Lol... He played 433/4231 in the first half and till 60mins or so but went right back to 442 with his changes. The man will rather die on the altar of 442. 🤣🤣

You never sabi Peseiro. He is indeed a dinosaur.

grin Old habits die hard.

But something needs to do be done about this poor defense [and our prosecution] of setpieces.

🇮🇹 Fiorentina talented RB Michael Kayode has agreed to sign new deal valid until June 2028.

It will be sealed and announced soon.

There were a couple of poor final balls in promising attacking moves that totally broke down potential glorious opportunities besides our prosecution of set pieces.

Our defence has to be so set up in a way that we limit the opponents to few or very little shots on target against us. Compactness is key.

Right now we are so porous that every shot directed at our goal is likely converted.

As for setpieces, well... if Peseiro added it to his training menu, we would see the result. Set piece specialty is another weapon on the offensive but it seems Jpes isn't taking it so seriously yet.

We could have lost again easily if our opponent defended well.
Two shot on target 2 goal.

Injury knocks out Osimhen from 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Victor Osimhen will most likely miss next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe after he suffered a second degree hamstring injury on international duty.

Reports from Italy said the injury the Napoli striker suffered while playing against Saudi Arabia in a friendly in Portugal Friday will rule him out of action for between four and six weeks.

The World Cup qualifiers are scheduled from November 13, just about the time he will likely begin rehabilitation from this latest injury setback.

Osimhen left the Super Eagles training camp Sunday to return to Italy after a scan was done on the injury.

He will also miss Serie A matches against Verona, Milan, Salernitana and Empoli as well as the UEFA Champions League trip to Union Berlin.

In November 2020, Osimhen was sidelined for several weeks after he dislocated his shoulder playing for the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone in Benin City.

If this is true, then he wouldn't be PLAYING the AFCON.

The last time we had a defense like that was at the WC. The oyinbo wall really protected Uzoho then.

As long as Uzoho is in goal for 9ja, we are minus 1, i remember the look Ndidi gave him when he scored for Saudi, it was a 'you are useless' look grin
Well victor boniface has come to stay in that team strengthening our attack
but i dare say i cannot see any impressive technical input Paseiro has brought to this team walahi, he's just lucky with the crop of individually talented players available now, Rohr did far better than this
Give the man his credit joor

Frank Onyeka fizzled out from the moment Onyedika left the pitch on 61mins. His shine as seen in the first half dimmed as Aribo was now deployed to the middle to pair Onyeka since Lookman had also come in same time Onyedika was pulled out.

This meant more defensive duties and less charges forward for Onyeka since Aribo is there now. Did they compliment each other in the middle between minute 61 and Minute 75? Not so much.

Then on 75mins, Iwobi came in for Aribo. Same story. Onyeka had to stick to the role Onyedika had vacated.

There are players who play better when paired or played with the right partners in a department or on same side on the pitch.

The reason we saw an Onyeka goal today was Onyedika's cruise control from deep permitting Onyeka to make those late runs forward and unleash his ball striking.

This quality disappeared almost with Aribo and Iwobi moved/brought in alongside Onyeka in the middle on 61 and 75mins respectively.

PERSONNEL MATTERS BUT PERSONNEL SYNERGY MATTERS MORE.

Just read on Completesports now that JP said he's unhappy with the players. According to CS, JP said their concentration levels dropped in the 2nd half and there were bad passes and crosses and loads of missed chances.

Now Baba don throw players under the bus, i can see Simon Mosis, Lukmon, Sordick been singled out but how about itchy fingers, he no talk anything, how about the defenders who lost concentration for the 2nd goal to Mozambique, Baba no talk that own. Missed chances, no be im invite Sordick?
After all said and done, in my opinion, we shouldn't fire JP yet, let him go to the AFCON abeg and thereafter a decision can be made.

THE REVELATIONS OF THESE FRIENDLY MATCHES

1. Calvin Bassey

Calvin is indisputably the number one revelation of these friendly matches. His positioning has transitioned from mediocre to excellent.

It was not just his duels, tackles, interceptions and other actions that involved defending, but his passes of the ball. He is a genuine ball playing defender. From well calculated short passes, to play progressive long balls, to creative passing. He is a defender that can create goal scoring scenarios. He alongside Iwobi affected very well how we played against Madagascar when they were both subbed in at the second half.

You can see that he doesn't just defend, he is a controller as well as an attacking threat.

He has a similar playing style to Kenneth Omeruo whom many of you do not rate. Both know how to command their area.

If Bassey continues on this trajectory for club and country, then he is definitely world class.

If players like Uzoho and Omeruo can still hold down spots in the Eagles then we are not ready to compete in next AFCON
Paseiro is a not doing anything out of normal compared to Rohr or Eguavon, no tactical improvement.

Our defence is in tarters while our goalkeeper is most likely to concede under no pressure as long as the shot is directed goal-ward
Paseiro should have looked into our league and use this friendly to test some goalies not use this basket called Uzoho same with our defence

I don't see us going far in next AFCON, na so so noise we will go there to make, no impact

See the mentality of a "coach" that's Leading Nigeria to contest for AFCON the ever incompetent NFF are folding their hands.
