Then go for a visit and return to your work later in Nigeria.

You may be able to deduce whether you would like to live there or not.

Since it’s a 10-year multiple entry visa, you can plan your relocation well after several visits to Canada because you have would have had some first-hand Indians experiences.

You have got nothing to loose on both sides , as of now.

Actually it is 10 years OR expiration of passport whichever comes first. My passport expires in 8 years.
Thanks for your sincere advice but I'm seriously leaning towards traveling now - b4 village people...😆

Just joking 🙃 It could be this old Honda City pool-car put in his care to make the OP feel important and stay longer in the company.

Let him go on a visit like two or 3 times. He would have experienced it than imagined it. Then he can decide.

Don't get it twisted😁. Don't let the 500K fool you - it is only probationary and is to quickly double, even triple.
Good advice but I'm really leaning towards splitting then making my way into the great US of A!

The quiet inner voice tells me to calm down and take a little time to get things right before traveling. But that's not what I myself want to do. I want to start experiencing Canada now!

There is nothing like calm down here lol. Opportunities come but once oh. Abeg Japa my guy. There may be some challenges in Canada when you get there but las las you go dey okay and always thank God u Japa. The current purchasing power of 500k naira now is even like 350k compared to last two years.

500k is the sokoto that have shown!!!?. I shake my head when I see some comments.
Many people advising this OP does not even have international passport or collect 500k salary in there life, once they do, along the line, they will realize the low quality of life that 500k ($480) is getting them compared to someone hustling abroad....

Oga, don't insult yourself . First off, his 500k salary will never remain static. Secondly, it's somebody like you that I can perceive does not have passport and can not command 500k salary! Oga sit this one out! You think it's by converting naira to dollars? Don't you know there are people in America and Canada to whom $480 is like their entire net worth? Do you know how many natives of these are homeless and penniless?

it's not everybody that chooses to remain in naija that is unfortunate. Some of us have actually stayed abroad and realized that it's not all beds and roses, then decided to grind it out in Nigeria.

I have people in the diaspora who are only there not because of financial or economic reasons, but they traveled because of herd mentality and they're regretting it today, knowing that they were better off in Nigeria. It's only people like that that can relate.

My thoughts too, a bird in the hand... But the dreams in my head, that's the problem!

Guy, you're in tech, you can always live the dream! You should begin to work out how to secure jobs from the Americas ,working in Nigeria remotely. You will live like a king. Anytime you like, you travel to these locations for vacations ,flex small and come back. Guy, don't believe the hype o! With enough money, you will get that type of life even here in Nigeria.

Finally, if you're single, you can take your chances and see for yourself . If you're married with children, you an also take your chances . At the end of the day, it should be what works for you . You may like it ,you may not.

Life na once! So if you dey feel like to go, no listen to anybody. Ticket don dey your hand, make your move.

I do sincerely wish you all the best!

I get you.

You are welcome.
I would still suggest you visit firstly, especially if you you are older than 40.

Getting job to covert visit visa in Canada is not as easy as people think it is.

Just don’t loud it when you first of all travel. Don’t alert people or put yourself on social media.

I've introduced him to lots of people here and they've all testified to God's goodness with their problems totally solved. He will pray on it and anyone God approves, just go for it. Take care.

Thank you so much. Really touched you went to the trouble obtaining a number for me, but in my experience and observation of life, when it comes to Nigeria, most such things are scams at bottom, one way or another, and I'd rather stay away from them

You are actually quite right in many ways. The 500K salary is actually only probationary, quickly doubles even triples. Also I have a relative in Italy (I hope he is still alive) whom no one has heard from again. Still, I'm seriously leaning towards traveling now. Whatever I ultimately do, I'll post on this thread, with photos.

My brother. Getting a slavery job there is better than my present stay here, trust me. Waking up to nothing n sleeping to nothing at this youthful stage of my life. I'd definitely consider any route so long it takes me out of here where I can work n earn.

PoliteActivist:

Amen! One chance will never be our portion. If you see a slavery job you're gone? Be careful what you wish for.
See my post above. What do you think of that asylum method? Maybe u could consider it?

So why not go the asylum route. But you can also get soul-killing slavery job right here in Nigeria if you wanted. That you are in Canada or any place doesn't make a soul-killing slavery job less so. I'm sure these people below were also yearning for slavery jobs

It's not new, very possible
I got a car..there are managerial cars and there are functional cars.
Managerial was because of your position, functional was because of your job function required a car. This is very different from pool cars that had a driver.
I could use the car at weekend and my personal time. Got a stipend for fuel however repairs were done by the office. However they will not use company money to replace anything broken or spoilt outside work hours

No mind the Intrepid01 guy. A salary that is probationary and quickly skyrockets is what he is obsessed with. Keep yapping about what he knows nothing about

If this is the case.

Separate yourself, plug out ALL distractions and ssit down to reflect for ONE day.
No social media, nairaland, Instagram, WhatsApp
No internet sef.
If you're a praying man pls pray ask God to shine light on WHY you feel this way.

Reflect
Use 5 whys ( basically interrogate yourself with each answer) nd write it down.
When you're done assess whether your final answer has any merit

Thank you very much for very good advice and a very practical method of making decisions. But in this case I think the heart will win over - it's probably going to be Cana, the way I feel right now

Canada that has a system you can tell you self … “I want to achieve this or that “ and push for it … you won’t have to deal with bad economic instability or Nepa or traffic or police harassment … no worry, people are just consoling themselves … but to go the Canada still no easy for common man o

😆 Well, if you want to look at it that way, Tinubu also told himself “I want to achieve this" and he ended up achieving it, despite being a known criminal - and he wasn't in Cana!
If he had stayed in Chicago he'd very likely be sitting in maximum security as we speak!

If you have enough money to sustain you for a good period of time then go for it. Even if you get a job in good time it's best to have money to sustain you for 6 months to 1 year just in case

To be honest, if I leave now I'd enter Canada with about $500 US. What you think?

So that’s not a status car but an operational car. Nigerians are fond of exaggerating themselves. Just say it as it is…..

Stop making a fool of yourself. First you were on about salary, now it is wether "status" or operational car!

The OP never said it was a status car, he just said the job came with a car.

Besides even if it is a status car ...just because you never seen it doesn't mean he's exaggerating. It maybe uncommon does not mean it's doesn't exist.

Thank you very much. Couldn't have said it better. But it is a status car - assuming we mean same thing by that. Just ignore the guy henceforth

I also have 5-year Canadian visa since last December but I'm not willing to move now because it's a VV and I don't want to be stranded overthere.

I bought my ticket since July but my brother overthere said I can't really do much with VV. I tire oooooo.

Wow, we're almost in the same predicament. Same advice from my prospective hosts over there. What sort of 5-year do you have. Mine is 10 years but actually 8 years as that's when my passport expires

It's less stressful if you are not married. Many families in Nigeria are passing through emotional stress. It's seems there no peace in the world anymore. Some are dieing to go while some are bringing back their families.

I'm not married and that's part of it. I have a dream of meeting my international partner over there and setting up an international family. Don’t know why our folks there don't do that
