Another way to generate revenue for Lagos is to fine them before they are allowed to open for business.

Am try to make sense of this

And its not adding up

generator alone produces 80 -100db, which is above the decibels limit,

wittywriter:

For residential areas
55 decibels during the Day
45 decibels @ night.

Funny...

Wittyness

Lagos is the only place you will walk up in the morning and you will be hearing loud noise from both churches and mosques combine with nosie from agboro. I commend this effort made. I will also suggest they also arrest any agboro making loud noises on the street of Lagos.

They should be regulated and made to give account of funds generated. You should need a government license to establish a church or mosque.
All these yeye "I get callings" should stop.

it's about 10-15 decibels.

I'm already getting differing values.
Anyway it may not just be enough to state dB levels alone. Distance also matters.
The noise from a Church with 60dB sited inside a residential area may be more offensive than another Church with 70db, sited some distance away.

Ok.
Of course it's quite unfair to generate noise that will be too loud & offensive to others.
But to avoid allegations of victimisation & witch-hunting, the criteria for Noise Pollution must be clearly stated.
Not only the max dB level but also the minimum distance to site a Church/Mosque/Club etc from residential areas.

For me their preaching should be for those in their hall, why blowing the sound to the general public?
Those who is interested should come inside your facility

Their noise should be within their premises/Halls
If the sound should disturb your next neighbours then it's noise pollution and the facility should be shutdown

You are right, but my concern is how to establish a case of Noise Pollution.
A loud music from a neighbour's flat that you consider as disturbing, may not be so for another neighbour.
Even Generator noise in most neighbourhoods can constitute Noise Pollution.

Nice one

I will really appreciate if the government can see to this as well .

Muslims make use of the road to pray whenever the mosque is filled up ..

This act causes massive TRAFFIc which is very bad ..

It is high time we stop giving unnecessary priorities to all these places of worship. Churches and mosques don't pay tax, yet they won't stop disturbing the peace of real taxpayers living in their communities.

The common practice of mounting roadblocks every Friday for Jumat services should be stopped too

...and all those early morning preachers moving about the neighborhoods with their megaphones should be arrested.

Hahaha 😂

Generator noise? obviously nothing can be done about that, but the agency need to seriously see about the disturbing noise from worship centres.

Imagine a church disturbing the neighbourhood all night meanwhile they're meant to communicate with their members inside their halls, like wise mosque

It's on the website of the regulator. The last time I checked, it was 42decibel or so but check to confirm.

There's a free app, Sound Meter, I use to measure it whenever we need to discharge messages out during evangelism.

As a personal value system, I really genuinely feel it's abhorrent to use your own sound to the discomfort of others. Both Bible and Quran preach to its faithfuls to live at peace with our neighbours and respect the authorities. As a Lagosian,I particularly carry the burden to comply with this law so others just coming to Lagos will know that we are law abiding in Lagos.

Let's support Lagos state Government to curb noise pollution please. Check my signature for free stuffs!

Quran preaching to live in peace with your neighbor..?

I'm fully in support of this, our worship centers, churches and mosques should be regulated by the government

In my area, you can hardly sleep because of the unpleasant noise coming from the loudspeakers attached to mosques
Same here, you can't sleep with church noise, these folks hold programs everyday... Vigil every Friday.

Mosque will continue from where church start.... These folks are just inconsiderate of others.

They can't even try this in the countries of those that brought religion to them

Mr Freestuff, can't the Lagos State government also extend these muscles to curb blocking of roads during Friday prayers or restriction of movement during oro festivals? These are forms of pollution's too.
