I feel sorry for her. It's so bad especially when you're coming from a socially vibrant place like Nigeria.

The western culture is so isolated. Hello, Hi and that's all. Anyone you take as a friend is just for drinks/party o, if you assume any other type of attachment, you're on your own except it's your nuclear family.

What I don't understand is why people act like it is okay to live that way. Even Africans keeping to themselves like the whites only to get to their rooms and cry out of boredom. Because nothing can come close to true friendship, not Netflix not studies not work.

She should try to visit Naija every year. Spend at least two weeks greeting and gyrating with family and friends, chop suya and drink our cheap beer. Enter club and shake body, not all that Tecno electro music.

What if she is kidnapped or even killed. Or they use billing to finish her?

1. Stop lying! Nothing like isolation in western culture. The problem is instead that many of us aren't as social as we always claim to be. Nigerians and other Africans simple have a hard time mingling with people from other cultures and countries. Go anywhere here and you find them all needing to hurdle together to socialize. The few that are able to break free of that problem enjoy the west as much as they want to. undecided

2. She is keeping to herself because she is having a hard time opening up and mingling with others as they are. This is typical here with Africans. undecided

Abroad is all about work work and work. In the Western world, people mind their business.

People are usually advised to have a serious relationship before traveling because it is lonely out there.

Girls outside the shores of Nigeria always have this snobbish attitude towards guys in Nigeria.
Men will definitely be hitting her DM on a daily.

You lied about western culture being isolated. It is far from that. The problem is the African upbringing does not readily train people to mingle easily with people from other cultures and races. Yes, there is a racist aspect to the average Nigerian that hinders socialization with people of other nations and races. And that is highly likely why this woman, though surrounded by so many people, believes she has to cry in silence and alone. undecided

The reason you have a hard time finding relationships here has a lot to do with the racist undertone to your upbringing. If not, there is no reason why you would not be able to find yourself a mate anywhere you go on this planet. undecided

While it may not be so isolated, it is not as liberal as you describe. It's part of the culture shock on how everyone stands for themselves even if you're so open and social.

The fault is not entirely on her. I believe you may have friends from other races but I won't believe you bond as easily as you would with Nigerians in Nigeria.

If I'm wrong, we won't be seeing indians and orientals huddling respectively in cliques as well.

Nonsense! So because she is lonely you automatically take it to mean she needs a Naija man? That is the racism I am talking about right there. She is in fking Canada for Pete's sake...there are people from all over the world probably represented there and you think her only option should be Nigerian men? undecided

Is Nigeria more liberal than anywhere Canada or western state? Abeg make we cut the bull o'jare! undecided

2. Do you even begin to understand culture shock? It has to do with suddenly being faced with that which you were never previously trained to handle. That is it. undecided

3. Again, the reason many many Nigerians have an easier time bonding only with other Nigerians and not people from other nations and races has a lot to do with the racist undertone to our upbringing. There are some Nigerians who don't have that problem or were able to break from it whereas many others live with and die with that shadow over them all through life. undecided

Was she forced to go live in Canada by anyone? Canada is not the problem since there are so many who live there and have lives. She needs to cut her coat if she has to... get herself the break she needs before she breaks down completely. undecided

When someone is in pains and obviously you don't understand her pains, try to be humane, just a listening ear can comfort her and we will have one less problem in the world.

Yeah, I was thinking about it recently, there's no good dating site where you can just go there and get someone genuine, it's mostly people looking for paid sex on the flip side meeting someone on the street comes with its own risks as well.

I think cultural differences plays a role for regions outside Nigeria.

You say that as though back in Nigeria what many define as relationship is not almost entirely about the sex as well, and hook up culture has not almost always been celebrated down there as well. undecided

2. I don't think it has much to do with cultural differences but the confusion most experience when they come here thinking themselves superior while much of what they complain of is exactly that celebrated by in Nigeria by many. undecided

I don't think you are accurate here. When you migrate to the west as an adult African immigrant, it is very difficult to break into white people's social network. These people develop their social network right from childhood, and it is the friends they acquire from childhood that they carry on with till old age. Secondly, many times when you are in their midst as an adult African migrant, you find it boring because their jokes, discussions apart from the ones centred on careers won't appeal to you because you didn't grow up there.
The summary of my rejoinder is that it is easier to mingle or break into the white man's social network when you migrate as a very young person. At most, early 20s.

lol, numbers don't lie bro., find out from diaspora brothers and sister how easy it is to find a partner.

I have over 30+ course mates who relocated out of the country. They either got married before travelling or came back to Nigeria to get married, only 5 got married over there. The five of them got married to Nigerian women.

Addressing your first paragraph, not really so I can speak for myself and my circle when we're asking a girl out it's for the purpose of marriage, pure and straight.

Don't get me wrong sex is important, we Will talk about it and discuss each other's fantasy but it's never the driving force, there are more important things than sex, the lady's values system, attitude, mindset and fidelity.

On the hookup thing it's rather unfortunate.

I don't really understand your second paragraph.

This isn't about the numbers but the why. Why are they not able to find partners when they are surrounded every day by people from all over the world? undecided
