When you're depressed, you can share your thoughts with your neighbour and before you know it, you're back to normal and life goes on. A friend got deported from us over 2 decade ago. The visa agent who processed his visa documents used a credit card to pay for his training which he went for. At the POE, the CBP called the training firm who said his name had been removed from the list cos the card he used to make payment had a fraudulent charge on it. Since he's the one directly involved, they said he was the one who used the card to pay. He thought they were kidding him, by the time he was thrown in a cold cell, the reality dawned on him.
He was sent back to Nigeria with the next available flight. When he got home, he called everyone that he was sent back and he was going to end it. We cancelled him, told him to have faith and all would be well. He became jobless in-between. In short, he later had his life back. Years later, he went to the US embassy and reapplied. His visa was granted. He's been to USA multiple times, even taken people along with him.

To say na over there, there's nobody to share your thoughts with. You don't even see the neighbour next door face to face. You only hear their voice once in a while. Every one keeps to themselves. By the time you add one plus one, you don commit suicide. Meanwhile here, you can barge into your neighbour's apartment uninvited, open the fridge and bring out water to drink, gist don start on wetin dey worry you and you end up leaviing there happily....it doesn't happen that way over there.

1. Have you ever noticed how when the same "white" people move to Nigeria, even with the disadvantage of not being raised in Nigeria , they easily find ways to adapt and mingle than Nigerians do when they go abroad? Ever wondered why?

2. Don't expect everyone's jokes to appeal to you. That is where learning about them and what interests they have come in. For example, I had problems mingling myself, and so several years ago I joined a city cycling club so I could do that, mingle. As i went out regularly on rides with club members and hung out with them even outside of the rides when I could, I started to gather the same interests they had, talk about many of the same things they did, and even find interesting many of the same things they were interested in. You can't socialize or mingle if you are not first willing to step outside of yourself.

3. I disagree with you since humans are social beings so at whatever age you find yourself here, you will definitely find those to socialize with if you are willing to step outside of yourself to do so.

My own submission, trust issues is another factors if you go to the island you’ll see foreigners in hotels in cliques but you don’t see them in regular street except when they’re working .
