I wonder the kind of junkies you socialize with though. I mean that, in all sense of honesty.
That dude you replied to is trying to be whiter than the white man. We know these kind of Africans in the west. The people born and raised in Canada are saying that the winter is depressing, an African migrant is saying something different. grin

Stop thinking about Nigerians!!
Take time to developing yourself, forget about Nigeria people demands from you and concentrate on developing yourself alone for the next 4 years.
If husbands come your way marry, but never allow them to.mess up your life .

If you develop yourself, you will get a professional job and be able to have time for yourself.

White people that move to Africa find it easy to mingle and socialize because Africans go out of their way to befriend them and make the first move in being their friends, and that is a fact. We introduce them to families and friends and generally make them feel welcome.
■ The reverse is the case in their countries, they are generally aloof with black people even their black citizens talkless of some bloody African immigrant with a funny accent, and don't go out of their ways to befriend black people like we do because of our inferiority complex in Africa.
Many people do exactly the same things here with Africans so if we are following your logic, it should work exactly the same way. I recall being invited to family dinners by coworkers and so on when I was still pretty new here. Even to this day, I get those invites, particularly around the holidays. But how many of those opportunities do I turn into friendships, that is the question here. undecided

#FACT
DrAkpamudehe:
I don't think you are accurate here. When you migrate to the west as an adult African immigrant, it is very difficult to break into white people's social network. These people develop their social network right from childhood, and it is the friends they acquire from childhood that they carry on with till old age. Secondly, many times when you are in their midst as an adult African migrant, you find it boring because their jokes, discussions apart from the ones centred on careers won't appeal to you because you didn't grow up there.
The summary of my rejoinder is that it is easier to mingle or break into the white man's social network when you migrate as a very young person. At most, early 20s.

This has nothing to do with feminist! Grown up men cry too. It’s just that they won’t film themselves crying or post it on social media.

Why do most of u always like talking nonsense? Is there anywhere in Nigeria that there is no hardship now?

Did the people living in lagos, Ph, or Abuja told u it's because they are living there that's why they are facing hardship? House rent in my place is almost as expensive in most part of lagos and Abuja now. So why talking off point?
Good. Is there anywhere in the world where people are not lonely? Does living in Canada means immunity from loneliness and depression?? Don't we have lonely people in different parts of the world? Why are you trying to invalidate someone else's struggles because they live in Canada?

Is Nigeria more liberal than anywhere Canada or western state? Abeg make we cut the bull o'jare! undecided

2. Do you even begin to understand culture shock? It has to do with suddenly being faced with that which you were never previously trained to handle. That is it. undecided

3. Again, the reason many many Nigerians have an easier time bonding only with other Nigerians and not people from other nations and races has a lot to do with the racist undertone to our upbringing. There are some Nigerians who don't have that problem or were able to break from it whereas many others live with and die with that shadow over them all through life. undecided
The bolded.
This is not limited to Nigerians alone.. It will be easier for an Indian to bond more quickly with fellows Indian(s) in Nigeria than it will be with Nigerians... Language, Culture & Food are keys

How tf do I socialize and make friends here(Nigeria)?
Someone I thought we were friends clearly told me we weren't friends. The guys I thought we were friends would do things and leave me out. When it was one of them's birthday, I asked him to drop location but he said he's not celebrating this year. I later saw videos from another person where they went to celebrate it that night.
I only buy things and enjoy alone in my room now.
You can't force anyone person to be your friends however you have to do your due diligence if you want to make friends. You can't simply fold your hands and expect them to drop from the sky for you. lipsrsealed

As I have gotten older, I have come to realize that having acquaintances maybe a better alternative to having friends. undecided

What due diligence is required tho?

Also, friends can be of immense help where acquaintances can't.

1. Friendship is a relationship and like all relationships, you have to be willing to step outside of yourself in order to engage the other person on common ground. It typically starts with a conversation and then if you both think you are compatible and hit it off, you can share contacts and so on. undecided
2..True. But acquaintances can serve in the case that friendship is too much for what you need. undecided
