This is totally not true. Per capita income is dependent on both GDP and population. Your GDP can be growing as a result of the increase in population but your per capita remains the same and you have experienced no economic development. Sadly, this has been the case with Lagos for years. Mynd44: 2 Likes |

Racoon: Mumu. No be from generated revenue everything you want talk about dey start unless u no understand anything about economy? What economic progress can you make if your revenue is nothing to write home about? IGR only shows how the people are taxed. It's a very popular quote that no government can tax itself into prosperity. Heavy taxation is never an economic progress.Tax in Nigeria? Lol. Who dey Pay tax in Nigeria? 1 Like |

johnjose68: Same Ogun Anambra is beating by GDP? You should be mad that despite how you people are being milked in tax Ogun has the worst infrastructures in southern Nigeria even your senate President confirmed it last week. SW you people are mostly employees And those companies are paying Thier taxes Via by indirect means yes you heard that! Companies leverage increase in salary to paying taxes SE people on the other hand are self employed Less taxed and are doing well for themselves I mean how many persons are being taxed in Onitsha, Aba , Nnewi and Enugu? IGR is never a way to show economic viability of a region but GDP and HDI 5 Likes 2 Shares |

LOOOL. My people perish for lack of knowledge. On a serious note, high taxation actually reduces growth and income. How will mama Cynthia generate wealth, improve or expand her business, etc; when she is paying taxes, duties and levies at every corner? There was an article just last week on big name companies, employing thousands of people, who have left Nigeria. Their number one concern was forex flunctuations, closely followed by high taxation, cost of imports etc. The high IGR in the States are from companies. Oil companies, multinationals, NGOs, etc. I'm including company taxation and salary taxation. If anything, all states should be fighting to reduce their taxes. After all, most of this IGR is wasted anyways. Mynd44: 1 Like |
