There are novels by Opeyemi Ojerinde,
Life in the Veneha,
Teacher chuk,
Room 401,
Once upon a time,
My father farmland,
Etc

I don't know why and how African writers have gone down hill.
Honestly, I missed old African novels and writers.
Achebe, weep not child, the boy slave, the return of shettima etc

The question is which body/organisation classified these books as presented by this person.

Lol......Achebe on that list is just funny.
A nigerian must have compiled that list.

Shakespeare, dostoevsky, hemminway, twain, Virginia Wolfe, Jane austen, George orwell and so many not on that list.

No shades on Achebe but come on man. For fuxk sake be serious

It’s clear you’ve not read things fall apart cos if you read novels you will know that book is magical in all ramifications

Do u even know my tribe or am I a citizen of England?

I never talked down on Achebe's works, I only stated what i saw on Quora and what other literary institutions think about Williams works

Not even the Greek could boast of such a great writer that can rival Williams despite their advance years of civilization over England. I would be cool with Achebe ranking by williams side but not above him

I think that Shakespeare's novels are published only in English language, whereas "Things Fall Apart" has been published in more than 50 languages.

This are my top 5
1. War and peace by leo tolsoy
2. The first blade trilogy.
3. The da vinci code by dan brown.
4.

Any list without War and Peace and, Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoevsky) alongside Anna Karenina na fake. Three Russian books.
Not to include Candide by Voltaire shows it's actually an anglophone thing but barely included a few others to disguise.

Not enough to merely state their titles.

A brief synopsis of each would help those who may want to check them out.

Is it on war, history, politics, religion, romance, etc.

Prose isn't Soyinka's genre. He is more of a Poet and Playwright.

You Yorubad are just envious of the man

It was Achebe that was envious of Soyinka.
It was the envy and bitterness that killed him.

Soyinka no be him mate.

I bet you no nothing about Achebe's novels,: "things fall apart" was translated to more than 60 languages and if you want to study Africa history and culture in any part of the world you must read this novel. The fat is, Achebe deserve Nobel Laurel too. One of the finest Africa writer ever produced

Achebe was an ordinary novelist.
He could not have won Nobel laureate.

Those who won laureate are complete writers in drama, poetry, novels
Achebe tried his hands
on poetry and drama and he failed woefully

Na ibos dey hype Achebe, just the way they hype other failed leaders from their region.

It's ibos who will believe that someone as dumb and inarticulate as Obi is better than Tinubu.
Ibos are delusional and largely illiterates

I knew Jane Eyre wud enter.
Read that book while in secondary school.
Book was kinda boring back then. But I immediately believed it was a classic even in an era where internet was just warming up.
Like very boring.. Maybe I'll find it interesting if I try it again

Igbos are the whole world that have praised the man. From Obama to Godimer to countless number of people.
Thank God Tinubu is in the saddle, representative of all Yorubad worldwide, and we can see how dumb and foolish you people are.
Even the Fulanis are far smarter than you. Look at the mess we now have in less than a year. You should be ashamed to compare Tinubu and Obi. Even his wife and children won't be stupid to do such comparison.
