Aha! I see the confusion. To clarify, osmosis is from lower solute concentration to higher solute concentration, which is the same as higher solvent concentration to lower solvent concentration. Case closed ositadima1: 5 Likes |

Deadlytruth: True, osmotic pressure na the force wey dey make water waka across membrane. But the way you talk about am get small issue. You talk say, "Osmosis na strictly about how water dey move, e no consign any other substance." This one no too correct. Osmosis fit involve other small substances wey dey waka with the water, no be only water waka come. Again, you yarn say, "Na so water molecules go begin waka commot from the side wey get lower concentration through the membrane, waka go mix with the side wey get higher concentration for the other end." Small issue dey here. Water dey waka from the side wey get higher concentration go the side wey get lower concentration, not the other way around. Make we try get am well. |

ggoldmine: You agree that it is the solvent that crosses the membrane and not the solute. This reinforces what I have been saying. |

essentialone: This is a long term approach, I am responding because i was mentioned. Same approach as Flour mill, i'm holding current unit, If i am just opening positions today as a long term player , i will start with afolabi units, then buy more or not based on quarterly earnings report . The major risk of UACN is management figuring out how to turn around the agro-allied sector of the company. The recent earning shows boost in profitability which is due to a large extent inflow from disposed property, plant, etc . will keep enjoying the tashere dividend and adding appropriately. Disclaimer: for most positions (about 9 out every 10) of my / home office stock holding i don't have a price target. Hence, i usually don't talk about price two things takes me out of a position viz; a. if the company's (stocks held) direction (mgt, financials) begin swerve away from the trajectory . b. death on my part aka till death do us part (if the next person in line of command aka beneficiaries are wiser or dumber than i am as the case maybe decides to sell everything, I am long gone anyway... step-up basis to whoever takes over the office). I hope i there will be sme type of trust in place to mitigate this. edited Nov 6 2023 for better reading flow/ grammatical error. 2 Likes |

emmanuelewumi: "the presence of salt reduces water potential. Water potential is the measure of the free energy of water. It is affected by the concentration of solutes in the water. Salt is a solute, so when it is added to water, it lowers the water potential. This is because salt ions attract water molecules. The more salt ions there are in the water, the more water molecules are attracted to them. This reduces the number of water molecules that are free to move around, which lowers the water potential." |

Mfunkynation: Random walk, fluctuations, probability, stochastic model and deterministic model in Physics can all be applied to the Stock market more than Osmosis. Yet they have wasted almost 2 pages trying to get the correct definition of Osmosis. Talk of derailment! 1 Like |

emmanuelewumi: Osmosis is the movement (of solute) from lower concentration (of water) through a semi permeable membrane to areas of higher concentration (of water) and vice-versa(if i may add ). Fixed!!! @ositadima1 |

chimex38:Fixed!!! @ositadima1 u were kinda right in pointing it out at least.. started with solute, then inbetween, definition referred to "of water" and then "of water" at the end.. can be confusing for starters who would assume he was referring to solute from the onset till the end OR referring to solvent(water) from the onset to the end of definition. Doesnt make his definition wrong though.. no more explanation tire things...😑😂😀🤣 |

chimex38:Can there be anything like concentration of water? I know that I could measure the concentration of salt in grams of that salt per dm³ of water, but how do you measure concentration of water? Would you say 2grams of water per dm³ of water? 4 Likes |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Miyachi: 9:50pm On Nov 01, 2023 |
chimex38:It is the solvent that moves not the solute. It diffuses from an area of lower concentration solution (higher concentration of water) to an area of higher concentration solution(lower concentration of water) until both solutions are isotonic. Higher concentration here means a higher solute concentration and lower concentration means inversely the same. 3 Likes |

Curiouscity: Osmosis can also be used to describe the movement of capital within a stock market from one sector to another. For example, if investors believe that the technology sector is undervalued relative to the energy sector, they may sell their energy stocks and buy technology stocks. This flow of capital from the energy sector to the technology sector would be an example of osmosis within a stock market. Capital flows from Overvalued sectors to Undervalued sectors or stocks. |
