Depends on what u do. I came to England 26th of September, 2023, I am an IT person, saw a computer warehouse where they recycle computers in my neighborhood in Birmingham and walked into it to notify them I was available for jobs. They asked of If I could fix Computers and tested me for 3 days. And I passed. I've received my first salary for 40.8hours which is about £462 thereabouts. I've also downloaded nextdoor app to notify neighbors that I fix Computers, I got a message from a primary school teacher to format her PC and fix RAM. I made £75 from that. Just bought a bike from facebook marketplace to aid my movement. I'm walking into a local pizza delivery shop to notify of my availability for deliveries on weekends.
Japa isn't for everyone. U need skills to survive.

God bless you sir. I owe you a bottle of palm wine for this. It is nearly 8 years since I published a post here on Nairaland on why it is necessary for people to acquire practical skills. It is obvious the OP is totally skill-less. Tayo Aina the travel vlogger interviewed a Nigerian car electrician who now owns a massive repair shop in South Africa. His story is an eye-opener. Made 60 rands the very first day after he landed. He did not even have a place to sleep.

We don talk talk talk, still they won't here. Japa requires strategic planning. I can't even understand how someone with access to N30m is thinking of leaving the country. To do what really?

You just entered one month and already complaining. Keep calm. It takes time to get jobs in a new country. It took a friend 8 months to get a job in the US and that's a country with jobs flowing everywhere.

Don't mind the bro. Just 1 month, I spent 5 months sleeping and waking up on No 10 Paerdegat street, Brklyn, NYC before I could land my security job at Bronx.

This things take a process.
My friend just relocated to the UK last year December and now he is a trainee Agronomist NAIB. Someone story may not be the same as yours.

Resisting pressure from my family to join the japa wave is my biggest win in 2023.

It's a lifetime win Bro.

January will make it 25years I've been travelling far and wide. And I've visited all the continents of the world. I never for once nurture the thought of settling in any of these countries I've been.

I think it's stupidity spending 30millions to Japa to a country where you and your generations will forever be regarded as 4th or 5th class citizens.

If all these people that Japa spend all these millions in Nigeria, I can bet 50% of them will be alright and do well in their fatherland.

Oga calm down, don't be deceived or allow yourself to deceive those that want to japaaaa to the UK.
It's always like that when you first come in bro. Again, depending on the part of UK you are in.
Packaging your CV for indeed/total jobs is also important.
After a few weeks or months, depending on your luck, you won't remember all these stress or stories anymore.
I came here in February, I had £11k balance to pay the school. Bro, I can say authoritatively that I just paid the last batch last week without borrowing a dime.
So, calm down, create reasonable relationship with people here, gather useful information and be prayerful, everything go turn story sooner or later.
£11000? For what? shocked with £11000 i will relocate to Namibia and live lika king. Jeeeeez!! A lota white folks do not even have £5000 in their banks let alone £11000, what a thing!

how many Nigerians can even afford full fees. we are talking between 18 to 25m. i have to sell properties to raise this sum.

after payment of fees you still need about 6m to apply for visa n health insurance and alo flight... even fact keep 35m.
Na wao, you have sacrificed a lot. I pray God send you help fast.
I pray your labour shall not be in vain.

How many people have these funds? If you are waiting for this funds, you may nevr leave the country
Ekpekus:

No, you are not saying reality but in an attempt to circumvent a better plan, you landed yourself in a tight corner... so no amount of explanation would hold water... if you had your fees as shown in your account statement presented for CAS, we won't be having this discussion.
Re: My Experience In UK Since I Japa:WARNING by Discreet90: 8:26pm On Nov 01, 2023
Don't judge with one man's story. People balling in uk don't post it here. What I will say is that you should just find out how others are applying for jobs and making money here. Here in the uk, you will barely see anyone having less than 2jobs. So for him to say him and his wife cnt get one. It's either you ain't doing something right or your village people are on your matter.

i need no pity..

but to tell the true situation.

a lot of Nigerians are here struggling with same issues

we only want to heat the positive side but am sharing honest opinion and a' clear warning to Nigerians planing to sell properties to come here.

and those on the application process to think twice... except they have their fees plus house rent and upkeep money running into 35 million to 40 million else stay back

Broda abeg take chill pills, people get different head and I know someone that just relocated to northern island with his family last month and the guy just got a job. Student route before you start. Location matters bro

Lol. You believe 25m naira is too much to be paid at once? Good to know. How much did you say you raised again just to travel? About 30m naira, right? I started business with 200k in 2014, I guess. My brother started with 100k at the same time.
30m naira and you couldn't go into distribution of FMCG!

Make una de reduce how una de hype white man country. It's not easy anywhere. Our own is just a little bit more difficult because of greedy leaders but it's not easy anywhere in the world

That 13 million he spent to Japa to UK would have set up something tangible in Nigeria which if managed properly can grow in a space of 5-10 years into multi-million naira investment.

We have agro processing bisinesses begging for investments yet our youths keep rushing to pay UK government and their universities millions over certificate they might end up not using.. what really is wrong with Nigerians?.

You are right but that's gambling. So it becomes a 50/50 thing. Some are lucky to get job immediately the arrive and their permutations work for them while some won't be that lucky. I don't like taking stupid risks. If I did not have money to last me for 1 year when i migrated, i wouldn't have left Nigeria

I keep saying it, if you want to migrate whether through school, PR etc ensure you have enough money to last you at least 8 months to 1 year. If you don't, you will be under pressure from the day you land and you become desperate. Unfortunately things don't work out well for people who are desperate as they are prone to making mistakes upon mistakes.

I hope and pray it works out for you. Amen
What would you advise someone who has a fully funded scholarship and has a 200k job?
Re: My Experience In UK Since I Japa:WARNING by Nobody: 8:37pm On Nov 01, 2023
Why the hell would anyone travel on a student visa with all the family.

You have to go alone first to establish a foothold before bringing your wife and children.

We all know the answer to that question.

Don't tell people not to come to the UK because according to you ...Indians, Pakistani, Malaysia, china etc is overwhelming...

Tell them to come with that money they showed the embassy and the university before getting CAS and visa

If you have that money you will be focusing on your studies now and not job and how to pay remaining fees.
average man go use 50millon naira go learn business management for UK. Lol

how many Nigerians will or can afford 35 to 40 million for UK universities degrees?

i know people i am warning....if you know u are selling your homes, land, car to raise 15 million to come here... please stay back..

There is no job as at last year.. those that came last year or 2 years ago saw jobs here and there from question i asked.

but now everywhere is filled. i heard last year recruitment agency were organising job fare... but now no more.
When someone sold lands, cars, houses and other properties to japa, even after landing an okay job there, how many years you wan take gather those things back while still maintaining your bills in that abroad. This shows e no easy anywhere especially for those from thirld world country like ours.
I believe if those foreigners hear the amount we spend to japa, they will think we are mad because majority of them no get that kind money in cash.
I really pray you reap the rewards of your labour and sacrifice. Open doors for you very fast.

Skill is very important. Get a skill before moving. When my wife and I won American visa lottery back in 2013, the man we were going to stay with told me to acquire specific skill. He gave me about three options to choose from.

I can't even understand how someone with access to N30m is thinking of leaving the country. To do what really?
Exactly! You were holding 30m naira and you didn't know how to multiply that going into business!
