You see now.
Whipping up sentiments against the Government
The Students and their Parent knows that Universities are generating money.
Most of them established Ventures that runs bakery, table water, radio stations, Lock-up shops, collects money from campus shuttles and many more, hostels that they are not even maintaining, some even make the equipments in their engineering dept such as lathe machines available to artisans for use. What about the tractors and other equipment in their works department that they have leased out to companies.
Make dem dey play.
unilag is guilty of all you mentioned

Students pay for everything in their hostel fees especially in the Southeast that I know.

Non-academic staff are also paid by FG under the salary structure called CONTISS.

The talk about universities funding and maintaining laboratories, equipment & co are all avenues for corruption. All those facilities are all in shambles.

Yet, they fear NUC when they come for inspection and accreditation!!

Pls do your findings; I know very well about FG Yorofasities.

Chai..
What is needed is transparency not extorting the school. Who pays non academic staff?

Thank you for this.
Beyond sentiment and hated for whoever is in power, I don't know how someone will wail against this.

ASUU can't tell us how much they generate and how it is been utilized.
the same ASUU are always quick to lambast the govt for underfunding the school even when they know govt subsidies federal school fees and make sure they pay all the staff directly from govt purse. The money the school is not generating

NOBODY wants to be accountable for the funds they receive.

How much do we pay for matriculation, acceptance fees, brochures fees, convocation fees, results fees and we get NOTHING in return and the university never ever accounts for the money.

We even pay cash for some fees that we never really know what the payment is for.

What is department dues user for? Hostel fees for buildings that were built decades ago with FGN funding?

Have you demanded from these schools to account for how they expend their revenues and they didn't?

Even if they are not paying their staff, don't they build campus facilities, conduct researches, and many other things using these revenues?
Are they not under the government? Do you think if they had been sending to the Government....lol the Government would have demanded for 40%? Is the Government not funding the universities apart from payments of salaries?

And they already said they're paying tax on all those. Or if you open bigness and pay tax, should the government come and demand 40% from you again?

Hatred for rich people is how APC came into power and that's exactly what you're displaying. You hate and envy people making money.
The revenue to be shared is on the Profit After Tax that is if the Universities have paid the said tax truly. If you use my assets, including goodwill and brand to do business and earn profit, am I not entitled to a portion of your profit after tax

The FG should make the reasons for the 40 percent known to the general public if ASUU insists it's wrong. Transparency is very important in all the government establishments in Nigeria. We must move this country forward by all means so that those going abroad can see every reason to stay at home and not think of japa.

What are the Universities using the money for, when staff are still been paid by the FG?

The corruption in university compound is synonymous with the corruption in the larger Nigeria.

Cronies become billionaires just inside university compound alone via embezzlements!!
does the federal government pay the light bills, water bills for hostels and offices? Do they fund and pay the security in the school? Does the fg maintain the equipments in the school ( small ones where we get?)

Still govt. Mtcheew

Thief carry am...thief collect am. Both VCs and the politifians are same same...a conglomerate of professors can never justify what you guys charges student. Despite that, do you really give back anything to the students?

There are obviously a lot of ignorant folks on this platform. People who lack reasoning ability & just support anything government does.

First off, Federal Tertiary Institutions are poorly funded. The subvention from FG in a year barely pays for services in 3 months. To Provide electricity, some institutions spend as much as 15m every month to pay bills, not including cost on generators.

All revenue generated already goes to FG account where about 25% is deducted.

FG Tertiary institutions pay for outsourced services (security, cleaners, mail runners etc) from IGR.

All services paid for by students are already heavily subsidized. If in doubt, compare charges for similar services in public & private Tertiary institutions.

Due to the strangulating recruitment policy of the FG, all federal Tertiary institutions are forced to use ad-hoc personnel to help close the manpower shortfall. Those Ad-hoc personnel are paid from IGR.
