I think he was going by trophies

I don't know how many trophies Mikel has won but Kanu has won every top trophy in Europe, won U17, Olympics, twice African player of the year

Even then I didn't see what he brought to the pitch. He was not creative not scoring ,not defensive. Just some flashes of brilliance here and there. Soon Iwobi own go caste....these English rejects are what they are, bare average

Kanu only edged Mikel with Africa footballer of the year.I don’t rate any underage tournaments like U17 and Olympics but senior men football……11 trophies no be joke.

I don’t understand people when something is arguable, the party involved has every authority to claim his the number 1. For example, it’s arguable that any one of Messi, Cristiano, Pele, Maradona, Zidane and Ronaldo is the goat and each and every one of them has the authority to call their self the GOAT. you shouldn’t expect Messi to say Ronaldo is the Goat vice versa

Yes you are right,do anybody rate Victor Ikpeba or Emma Amuneke despite winning Africa footballer of the year.Mikel was highly underrated.

Yes I have seen talented players who failed to make it,players like Tarila Okoronwata,Clement Temile,Etim Esin,Duke Udi,Dodo Avaa and Ojokojo Torunigba.

Awoniyi is a complete gentleman that listens and ready to learn…during off season I told him o boy una plenty for striking role and he said getting call up alone is a blessing.

I remember speaking 🗣️ to him when he was at Liverpool recovering from injury.

He actually was very attentive to all I said to him , his humility will put many so called pastors to shame.

WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

Omeruo, Umar, Collins hit Super Eagles Camp in Uyo

Three players have arrived the Super Eagles camp in Uyo ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

Defenders Kenneth Omeruo from Kasimpasa in Turkey, Jamilu Collins of Cardiff FC in Wales and striker Sadiq Umar from Real Sociedad of Spain arrived the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo by 11am.

The Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Football Normalization Committee, Sir John Etim received the players on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation.

More players are expected to hit camp today and tomorrow as preparation for the clash on Thursday gets underway.

#copied

None of these players should be invited either expired, not good enough and do not add any quality going forward.

They represent retrogression.

I would ABSOLUTELY prefer Aina playing as a Left side wing back than any other player. Then Osayi can play RWB.

We are somewhat stacked in RB and LB positions. With a couple of players being very versatile
Osayi - RB and RW
Aina - RB and LB
Bassey - LB and CB
Awaziem - RB and CB
Bruno - LB and CB

While pur boys may not be in the best clubs in the world they are pretty decent players.

Awaziem can't play RB he will get wasted he is too slow, he probably will compete for the slowest player in the SE.

He played as a RB. He replaced Beresqinski (another RB) in the second half.

AndSunGorilla:

Thanks boss!!! Great assist from Ebuehi, it looks like he was the LB.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 8:46pm On Nov 13, 2023
I agree considering most of our LBs/RB's can play well as Wing Backs. We should have mastered those formations by now, not saying we cannot vary it.

Bannedlargedx2:

Our strongest positions are the fullbacks and striker position and any sensible coach will play a 352 or 532 depending on the opponent quality

As regards the bolded, not surprised at all coming from you. But I've had both start in those positions in one of my best formations.

Reason why I will not always support this is if both need to be subbed off in a particular game for various reasons.

modified
if you happen to sub off both, who will take the RB position. Except , unless you have Ebuehi in bench.

Never met him before but his disposition when playing is obvious he's very humble. I watched him give his testimony at a church and he was so shy for a super star. People like him are a rare commodity.

Just read that Bruno "may" miss out of the next games as he was reportedly injured in his club's last game. Would he be replaced?

We have Collins and Bassey (who can play LB). Sanusi won't be called because he has some injury concerns. I doubt there will be any replacement.

When receiving a call up can help a player perform

"I was surprised. I found out about the nomination after the game in Baku. "I was pretty upset with how I played.

"Receiving such good news gave me a lot of self-confidence for the game (against Union Berlin). I haven't shown my best performance yet. I can still learn a lot,"--Nathan Tella
