This is what it looks like---we got it from my village in Abia State,

When ripe, you can eat it like banana without cooking it... i think it is also called plantain banana.

I thought this thread would have grown my now with answers of

They can feed themselves. They have jobs they're doing. They have an apartment they're staying (rented and/or owned). Nothing is stopping them.

The solution is to eat it unripe once you get it till it finishes.
