Each country pays according to how expensive the country is to live in.
If Nigeria pays that, inflation will kill the country.
If UK does not pay that, it will not be enough.
What do you mean inflation will kill the country? So people should keep being paid peanuts? Why do you guys keep supporting evils? Bag of rice is on its way to 100k, yet salaries had not been increased. So what is causing the price to rise towards 100k? 2 Likes |

1 Sliced Bread = N800 2 Spaghetti = N1400 1 Gesha = N600 1 live chicken = N3,000 1 75cl soya Oil = N1,400 1 Midium size Butter = N600 2 Gino Tomato paste = N1,000

this exchange rate is just plain cheating. ChengHun:
How many people earn 8800 per hour in Nigeria? It will take a senior civil servant in Nigeria 2 days to earn 8800, meaning that what an hour pay can buy in UK, 16 hours pay Is required in Nigeria to buy the same thing. So UK is better 16 times |

Chinjo2: This your analysis lacks merit. He said the person bought those items with his hourly pay of 10 pounds. If I may ask you, how much is hourly pay in Nigeria? Assuming you are one on the few fortunate graduates in Nigeria that earns let's say 150k per month.
Then 150k divided by 30 days = N5000 N5000 divided by 8 hours = N625
Then I ask you, can you get those items with N625 in Nigeria?
(Remember most graduates earns less than 100k per month and works more than 8 hours per day)
You even tried self by using 150k naira.
That £10 is the minimum wage per hour. Let op calculate our own minimum wage per hour and you'll see that it can't buy anything in that trolley.

#30,000 minimum wage in Nigeria, you bought raw food of #8800, rent and others What is left?
$$2000 minimum pay @ $10/h on average Bought $100 worth of groceries can keep you as single for almost a month.

Council Tax Water Bill Electricity Bill Telephone Bill Television Licence Internet Gas If you have a car - Road Tax Sky - If you have cable
And you will spend more than 60GBP on feeding in a month. So, at the end of the day, he does NOT have 730 GBP to save as you claimed. He said and I quote "You can get a room in London for 600" For flatshares, almost all those bills you listed are inclusive in the cost of the room, so he is right minus the feeding part. |

The work that you will do in Nigeria per hour to earn 10k which is approximately equivalent to £1 being earn per hour in the UK does not exist in Nigeria. Infact that £1=10k being earn per hour in the UK is some private schools teachers' salary in Nigeria. So, if one is earning 10k per month, you should expect him/her to spend it on a spot. But if the 10k is being earn hourly, there's no problem to even spend more than 10k on a spot. Some labourer working on site mixing concrete from morning till evening are not even taking 10k home after several hours of hard labour. Next time try to do you comparing very well |

Anybody you see working a 10k work in Nigeria is dependent on someone most likely someone earning a minimum wage or more from business or petty trading just as most civil servants in Nigeria do have side hustles. In London the pay is high but what you pay for goods and services is higher compared to Nigeria which makes the money almost worthless for them there its more like you having to work yourself out to sustain even buying those kind of food in the basket compared to when it is brought here to Nigeria to be spent then the money is big but here the pay is not high but it buys the same thongs with lesser effort to earn the money...I hope you get it sha |
