I don't know how strong your passion for leaning is, but i advice you to learn in-demand skills. When skills are in high demand, the candidates who possess these skills are more likely to succeed in the job application process. Most demand skills in 2022 are IT Support technician, web development, software development, Ui/Ux, DevOps, CyberSecurity. Here I wrote 11 Most in-demand Tech skill to learn in 2022, their salary estimate and how to learn them https://teetaryo.com/11-most-in-demand-tech-skills-to-learn-in-2022/

TechLiberatedMe:
Hello Tech Seniors,

I graduated from the University about a decade ago and I'm currently in my early thirties.

I did not study Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics or other Math-related courses. My mathematical prowess is fair.

I made up my mind to go into Tech because I did an appraisal of my journey since I finished NYSC and realised I would have been very fulfilled if I ventured into Tech since then. The last one year has been terrible for me. I started thinking about Tech since late last year. I recently came across one or two threads where Tech guys gave testimonies and their comments gave me hope that Tech would change my life and my story.

I feel that I would even regret more in the next 10 years if I don't start something in Tech NOW! Tech is both the present and the future.

I have come to a conclusion that one can hardly regret ever going into Tech.

I got to know that there are several fields of Tech one can specialise in. I also got to know that some people started in one field and later dropped it for another field because they realised the first one was not for them.

I also hear that some people are in Tech but their foundation is faulty.

How do I know the aspect of Tech I will enjoy and at the same time excel in? Kindly guide me in every ways you can. I am coming late already and there is no time for me to gamble or do trial an error unlike a 16-year-old Jambite.

The following might be helpful in helping me make a decision:

1. I love to solve problems. In fact, solving problems gives me so much joy. There are times I skip sleep just because I want to find solution to a particular problem.

2. I love it when I am the staff/individual that got it done.

3. I am competitive (healthy competition). I love to look at people that are better than me and try to become as good as or better than them. I always believe that I can do it since they could also do it.

4. I love a career that pays very well even if not the best. As a result of this, I might be tempted to want to switch to a Tech career that has the best prospects and pays the highest. In that case, maybe it'd be advisable I start a career in that aspect I would eventually be tempted to port to.

5. Kindly also say something about Tech careers that thrive in the UK, US or Canada because one might have a cause to relocate in the future.

I look forward to reading from the seasoned and incisive Tech Seniors.

Thank you.

I was quite reluctant to reply to this post because the "which one pays the highest" sounded like greed and greedy people put me off.
But at least you want to hustle legally and earn money instead of crimes and vices and so that should be supported.

Anyway, to your question

Firstly; The highest paid are the Project managers and Tech Lead with decades of experience that work for Fortune 500 tech companies. Switching areas of specialising because one pays more might get you lesser pay as "Years of professional experience" is the golden criteria

Secondly: Since money is the goal, the question shouldn't even be the highest paying. It should be the quicker to getting a paying job. Lower barrier of entry. Because if you are told the highest paying but it take 3 years to get a junior role, can you be that patient?... Exactly

So my personal ranking from lowest barrier to highest:
QA tester
Product manager
UI/UX(product designer)
Web
DevOps/Cloud
Automation
Mobile/Desktop
Game development/3D
Video Editing
IoT and Embedded systems
Drivers

A lot of people might disagree with this list but it was made using certain criteria
1. Hardware requirement. If you don't have a beastly system just forget Mobile and Game/3D... You won't go anywhere(fast). By beastly I mean 16GB Ram, SSD and a good graphic card for Game/3D. Although I started as mobile dev with a 2gb RAM core2duo system, I can tell you it was hell till I got a better system as a gift.
The top 6 can be done on an average computer. So If you can't shell out 200k+ for a computer, your choice is already being made for you.

2. Getting a job: You see those last 2, I doubt there are many Nigerians that work on those full-time. Getting a local job would be hard or even not possible. Hardly will a foreign company send you their hardware to work with remotely and e fit take you years before your first gig
You're more likely to get a job as Web dev, Mobile dev, or UI/UX. Of course, the competition here is rising on a daily basis. So be ready to beat a lot of people to get a job

3. Naturally affinity. I know its about the money, but don't be that Airbender trying to waterbend when you're not the avatar(a genius). What I'm saying is, even if you want the highest paying, if it doesn't want you, it doesn't want you.
Someone who sucks at logic would suck as backend dev and will always be throttled by their inability. Remember, the best make the big bucks not the speciality
So choose an area that resonates with you and what you do best.
If you're a creative with an eye for colour, UI/UX and frontend is perfect
If you prefer logic and architecture, backend or mobile
Automation and processes? DevOps and Automation
Management? Product manager
Nothing will frustrate you in tech than being that fish that wants to climb a tree. Find the ocean and swim with the current

In summary,
how much do you have to invest in hardware?
how long can you patiently learn before the bucks starts flowing? else you find yourself like many devs I know switching stack with every breath they take
what am I good at?
Can I afford to fight off thousands of Nigerians, Indians, Pakistans in this field in a year time?.. Will frustration from rejection mails depress me?

Post the answers to theses questions and the stack chooses you not the other way round

Goodluck man

Good afternoon boss, I want to transition too and I'm willing to be patient, I was thinking of going into cloud and someone advised me to add cyber security to it , while another person told me to look to being a full stack web dev with html,CSS,JS, and possibly learn C.. any advice please?

Oh and my PC specs are
i5 11400h
Rtx 3050
8gb Ram and 256gb SSD ( is it okay?)

That's one sick PC... Congratulations

If you can, swap the SSD with a 512TB or 1TB SSD(when you get the money cause its expensive) and upgrade the RAM to 16gb(this one is quite cheap)

The PC should serve for whatever you hope to do with it though

As regards a career path, this one is hard o. The tech world is very unstable at the moment and those with jobs are losing them even the untouchable FAANG are laying off people in thousands. I can't possibly advice you without a disclaimer.

Personally, I think you should try them all and stick to one after a while. Find the one you enjoy and stick to it. I found orchestrating cloud infrastructure quite enjoyable, some people might find it a hassle. On the other hand, I hate frontend development. The more enjoyable you find something, the better you get at it and the better you get paid for it
Just find one you like and get good at it

Look at this as your first test, your first problem to solve on your own.

Hello there, you might find this article helpful in making a decision.

Top 5 Lucrative Tech Courses to Help Actualize your “Japa” plans.

The rate at which the tech industry is growing so rapidly is worthy of being talked about. For very good reasons, the world of tech has been trending for the very right reasons, even in developing countries such as Nigeria. Over the past 5 years or thereabouts, there has been tremendous growth, especially in the educational, agricultural, and health sectors.
It might be pleasing for you to know that there is a very high demand for tech specialists in various fields, not only in Nigeria but globally. For instance, the average salary for a Business Analyst is nothing less than $200000 per annum, amazing, right?

Cyber security
As a cyber security expert, you would learn how to identify, prevent and respond to risks relating to technology. If you ask me, I’d say this is worth giving a shot at. Furthermore, you can become a guru at security protection as well as risk management. As a cyber security expert, you can work as a Software Engineer, full stack developer, etc.

Software Development
Being able to code is considered a plus in the world we are in at the moment. It is one of the tech courses one can delve into and is quite lucrative. A lot of countries home and abroad are greatly looking for tech specialists in this field and are willing to even grant a visa sponsorship once the applicant has been shortlisted and accepted.
Information technology has grown far and wide and has become very lucrative, both at home and abroad. As a software developer, you have the opportunity of taking courses like information security, cloud computing, IT management, etc.

Database Management
The course deals with the actions a business takes to control data to directed targets. DBMS (Database Management Systems) are software systems used to store, and run certain queries on data. This course helps you to understand database structures, as well as information systems and SQL.
In summary, database management helps to organize, store, and retrieve data from a computer.

Web Development
A good thing about web development is that you can practice coding while also learning to develop web applications and sites. The learning of a variety of programming languages is also made possible even while engaging in coding. As a guru in web development, you can become a web developer or even an application developer, all of which are very lucrative and highly encouraged. Whichever course you’d like to delve into, Twim Institute’s got you!

Conclusion
To be honest, tech is making great waves, and not mincing words, one has to join the moving train and tap from its numerous advantages. And the good news is you don’t have to be in the tech line before you can delve into it. There are several people whose areas of discipline have no connections with tech, yet, they have taken the bull by the horns and are doing exceedingly great in tech, without mincing words.

At least 85% of the visa sponsorship jobs you come across on job sites such as Indeed are mainly tech-related. This is a sign that it is very lucrative and worth delving into, your current qualifications aside. It is a worthwhile bonus, trust me!

I keep saying that the new gold is tech and to be able to maximize this opportunity, one has to be well-informed and follow ‘the person wey know road well' to avoid stories that touch. If you want to benefit from this opportunity, click www.twiminstitute.com for more info

It's fantastic that you're interested in diving into technology. The field you should choose will greatly depend on your interests and goals. For instance, if you're captivated by the continuous evolution of devices, consider Hardware Engineering. If you're more into creating apps or software, Software Engineering could be your thing! Alternatively, if football or other sports are your passion, and you also enjoy programming, exploring Sports Analytics might be rewarding - you could use APIs like SportDevs, which provides great data for developers. No matter what, choose a field where your interest genuinely lies. Good luck!
