He's a failed doctor that struggled to graduate after several failures. It's his type that we have been discussing on the thread. Go through d thread, there's somewhere he even boasted that nothing would happen if he intentionally kills a patient. He must have been doing that for long

God's judgement will surely catch up with him and echo through his lineage, according to God's word.

Which of those 2 scenarios tried to undermine the "most dedicated" profession?

Did u read where an excellent doctor did a perfect diagnosis in d first scenario?
Or should we say because the profession is "so noble", then we must not admit that there are incompetent people who found their way into it?

The one who quoted u earlier, did u not read where he insinuated that practising a profession he's being paid for is doing the patient a favour, and nothing would happen if he kills a patient? . Do such people make any profession noble?

I will not condescend and use insultive words with you, but I want u to know that the whole world knows that the medical profession is filled with both competent and incompetent folks....and we have the right to discuss it in d public.

Sit at home, google your symptoms, goggle your medicine and get healed. Life is so simple.

Like government like citizen. They won't open there stinking mouth and criticize government who doesn't invest anything in the health sector. 2024 budget has 0% for health sector. I've never seen a right thinking citizen comment or react to this. It's the doctor who is struggling, working under unbearable conditions to give you the best you'll be yelling at like a mad dog. You place limitations on your destiny , and when they start to manifest, you run around from one spiritualist to the other. It is the same way you were bragging of killing patients and nothing would happen. You have just chosen your own portion, and your Maker has sealed it.

Continue in your wickedness. Soon, Most High, in His fierce judgement on you will prove to you how precious each of the souls you undermine and despise is to Him.

I have heard the saying that "the doctors know better", but it is not always the truth.. I have encountered terrible and poorly trained doctors. I will cite 2 scenarios.
1. About a decade ago, my uncle who had been having feverish feeling woke up one morning with blood stains in his eyes. I was assigned to take him to a popular church hospital, somewhere in Oloosha mushin. On getting there, the doctor on duty examined him and concluded we had to start eye treatment, that the eye must have been injured. He asked if d man ever had any thing hit him in the eye, and the man answered no, yet the fùfú doctor insisted we must commence eye treatment. Anyway we left because their fee were too high.
We then went to Mushin Local Govt Community hospital in Palm Avenue. The doctor on seat was a graduate of OAU, whom I knew earlier in the neighbourhood. We exchanged pleasantries and he started diagnosis on my uncle. Guess what, after the excellent diagnosis, he deduced that the man's BP rose so much and his veins (including the one in d eyeball bursted). We starred BP treatment, and to God's glory, the man's health was stabilised and his eyes were clear in a short time.

2. M The second one happened in 2019, to my church member who was down with fever. He was in a community hospital around Ayobo, Lagos, and the female doctor knew he needed urgent malaria treatment, so she ordered us to take him to the general hospital somewhere in Alimosho. On getting to d general hospital, the doctor on duty refused to attend to him. In fact we saw the doctor a few meters away discussing with a lady. When I saw the situation of the brother, I picked him and we went to join the doctor, and he grudgingly disengaged d lady.
The diagnosis started and the doctor said "I saw u when u guys came in, u were staggering. Tell me the truth, do use any drugs? ". The young man answered *no*. Then the doctor responded, "u are not ready to be helped".
The young patient brought out his cellphone and said "sir I saw it online that when malaria parasites cumulative so much in d blood stream, they can block the blood vessels supplying the brain, thus affecting balance, memory and so on". The young man is not even anything near a medical professional. He was a struggling graduate, trying to explore computer programming career.
The doctor felt so embarrassed and answered "aren't u a Christian? Are u supposed to believe such....", in an attempt to cover for his failure. Then he wrote something in a paper and gave me, asked me to take it to d pharmacy. It was MALARIA injection that was written there. I bought it and he directed us to somewhere nurses were, and the young man was given d injection, and we also bought malaria medications on the counter, and to cut long story short, the young man recovered.

Always consult Google any time you are with these so called "doctors'. . Most of the people we call doctors nowadays are young children who weren't smart enough to pass jamb, and their parents used alternative admission routes to help them study Medicine.
Moral of my epistle: The doctors don't always know better.
1. The history u gave the doctor is probably responsible for the misdiagnosis. Although he bears part of the blame for not properly checking you out before diagnosis. You see, the history a patient gives the doctor gives rise to the diagnosis. You said the man had a fever and bloody eyes, those point to an eye infection.
2. The second doctor here is wrong by saying your friend is a junkie just by seeing him staggering, however the assertion by your friend that malaria causes memory loss is a lie. I don't know the site he got that info from, but its damn wrong

U are doing a fair job defending your colleagues, but I hope u read the part that says that after commencing BP treatment the man was well again

And I hope u read from the second case that after the doctor agreed with d malaria claim of the patient (and he recommended malaria injection and medication) the patient was also healed

So tell me how the bloody eyes did not signify high BP, and also tell me how the patient's finding was wrong

What u are doing, here is called Blind Patriotism . Patriotism against obvious evidences.

Finally, I pity the poor patients who will end up in your custody if u don't know that malaria can block/reduce nutrient supportly to the brain,

othermen:
We are grappling with a high patient-to-doctor ratio in Nigeria. It’s a situation that inevitably compromises the healthcare interventions we receive. When attending clinics, patients face rushed appointments with doctors who have limited time to thoroughly discuss symptoms or provide detailed explanations. Burnout and fatigue are pervasive among our doctors due to their overwhelming workload, impacting their attentiveness and ability to deliver personalized care. This strain may also impede their capacity to stay abreast of advancements in their practice, potentially leading to preventable complications and worsened health conditions for many in the country.

The existence of diverse specializations underscores the necessity for doctors to refer patients appropriately. Unfortunately, some hospitals in Nigeria may attempt to manage cases beyond their depth of competence, jeopardizing patients' health outcomes. Even with specialists, the diagnostic process often involves a trial-and-error approach. And so, Patients, armed with a bit of knowledge from online resources, can contribute to the consideration of various possibilities in their condition. However, relying on unreliable or inaccurate internet sources may lead to anxiety and overwhelm healthcare providers.

Patients have the right to educate themselves about their health conditions and ask relevant questions without it resulting in communication breakdown. It is concerning that medical doctors on this platform are eager to state they would refuse treatment based on a patient's exercise of their right to actively participate in their healthcare decisions. If you are a medical doctor, and you fail to caution your colleagues here, they are doing a huge disservice to how healthcare providers from Nigeria may be perceived abroad. It may eventually jettison your chance of seeking a better livelihood abroad. I have met doctors who are professionals and they don’t have an issue with you obtaining more understanding about your health condition, the diligent of them even listen, for their concern is not in demonstrating their superiority, but in getting you back to proper health.

So when a very condescending fellow here talks down on people who have lost loved ones due to what they perceive as the negligence of the hospital, and all you can do here is to rebuke them and say they are deserving of such experiences, I again have no doubt that your profession has to rebuke you. Then you state here, you wouldn’t just be bias at a patient showing some understanding, you will choose to intimidate by denying care- but of coz, this not only infringes on the patient's right but also raises ethical concerns, particularly in an environment with little professional accountability.

The notion that healthcare providers in Nigeria are doing a favor by not practicing abroad is an unethical outlook that disregards the principles of beneficence and non-maleficence. Patients, pay for services, and so deserve fair-quality healthcare.

While advising patients to seek professional advice is crucial, the public hospital experience often falls short in the country. Doctors in public hospitals sometimes contribute to patient intimidation, dismissing patient input and compromising accurate diagnoses. Such unprofessional behavior, combined with a lack of regard for patient privacy, raises serious concerns and should not be defended. As an healthcare provider, pls know that your Knowledgeable patients being empowered to actively participate in their health can bring about enhanced communication which should promote a more informed decision-making. Yes, we may not be able to commit to a patient-centered care, but Patients' rights to active participation in their healthcare decisions should be respected, and their demonstration of knowledge or their petitions shouldn’t be a be a basis to penalize them.

The adverse effects alone for the particular drug will cover 2 pages if you look it up on google.
Someone without any medical practice will be hesitant to administer this drug on a strong patient not to talk of someone who has been bedridden they have been managing for 5 years...
The US doctor said the Nigerian doctors erred in administering the drug given the advanced stage of my late father's illness.

Do you know there was a time the doctors wrote a prescription for him only for me to get to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said the medicine has been banned and withdrawn?
The pharmacist had to speak with the doctor on the phone to register his displeasure only for the doctor to insist that the drug was still safe and very much in use and I must get it if he is to continue with the treatment?
All these happened in a government hospital where you have all the specialists and consultants.

So the fact that augmentin and other gsk products not in circulation or and are banned for lack of nafdac number in Naija market. Does that now mean that the drugs will now be bad?!

If you don't know, lol from your submission it is clear that the pharmacist was expressing displeasure about the prescription because he was going to miss selling medications he had that could cover what was ailing your dad at the time and not necessarily happy that your father had been prescribed quality drugs that he did not have to sell by the doctor.
