You are a great human being!

Your parents did well.
Thank you. My parents don't ever speak English with any of us.. It's always Esan and then we learnt yoruba from neighbors..

Whenever I speak yoruba like this, I always enjoy the surprise on the faces of people. Lol

Go tell your parents that I said "I love them".

That is how to raise children. You strictly speak you local language at home. Not some yeye English.

I can understand Hausa and Nupe to an extent,as I did my Youth Service in Nupeland in Niger state.
But preferably,I understand and read French and Spanish, and focus more on them, because of their great value internationally.
Hey bro, I can clearly see from your comments you don't speak it but you understand nupe when they are speaking it right ?

Where in Niger you live in ?

The fact that your fore fathers were colonised doesn't mean your brain should be colonised , it doesn't mean your whole identity and every thing that makes you should be colonised in this mordern day and age.

Trace your roots and find peace , you need to be true to who you are ... You're a lost man bro .
you know I just realize you’re the most fucking useless bastard on this planet. If you know you don’t want to have anything to do with the British or no longer want to be under their influence then stop speaking English

you just put your entire argument in English why didn’t you write it in vernacular or one of your stupid Nigerian indigenous languages? Why are you writing it in English
get rid of English get rid of the parliamentary system get rid of Christianity and everything so you can finally free yourself from there isles if you know that you no longer want to be on the British influence

stupid fucking idiot you are the dumbest fucking asshole on this planet that was created by mistake and you will burn at the hottest part of hell after you dir a very slow painful death

don’t even think of replying to this, because if you reply to this every single thing that you work for your entire life you will never get to enjoy it the fruit of your labor will be enjoyed by your enemy and you cry blood that will fill the bucket on top of your family members head and crush them to death

Like I said earlier, you really need to make peace with yourself . You refer to your own native language as Vernacular and stupid c'mon now if this isn't sadness I wonder what else it is... At this point I can only pity you, cos you have real issues going on in your life that makes you hate yourself and whole being so much.
I pray you heal from it cry You're a really sad soul bro that radiates sadness cry I can't even begin to imagine what's going on in your brain or how you're living your day to day life ....HEAL little bro.

and by the way, I will never make peace with the fact that I’m Nigerian I will always resent and hate that little detail for the rest of my life and I wish there was a way to change my nationality

by the way, how is it in my own native language did I choose the language for myself? My native language is the language that I choose for myself and I choose English and French Bleep any of that

It really didn't take long to figure that out. But no matter how fluent you think you are in English , you'll always have that Nigerian "accent" and no matter how Fluent your French is , it'll still have that African tone . There's really nothing you can do about it. I don't know your story, but as long as you didn't lose anyone to banditry or kidnapping , boko haram and all that.. Find peace bro. You can only prosper in a land you Love

there is a possibility of her learning Yoruba and Igbo in Edo state if she indeed learnt it in Edo.

Yorubas speak their language anywhere they are, my Edo mum that has’nt been to the southwest can speak decent Yoruba courtesy of our Yoruba tenants that has been with us since 2001

there are humongous population of Igbos in Lagos state, the Igbo population in Lagos state is bigger than Ekiti state. If she regularly stays around them or stays where they speak the language. It can be regarded as the ‘east’. Remember she was born and bred there. Born and bred signify spending at least the first eighteen years there. If she stays around where they reside heavily like festac and some other areas during these eighteen years then why not as compared to your three years

Above all, women have better ears for language than men

I think its your last line for me

If she grew up in Igbo dominated area, she should struggle to understand Yoruba then since she is Esan by tribe and even claim her Parents only speak Esan to them

She could either understand one of Igbo/Yoruba and not the two

I have guys who learnt Igbo by just staying around Ago-Okota for like 10years but what helped him is the fact that he was a Yoruba by birth

Alongside with my last line, I can tell you that Yoruba is about the easiest language to learn in Nigeria, moving about Lagos as a grown up would have exposed her to Yoruba speaking proper, if she did not grow up in Yoruba dominated areas. I have experiences of people who recounted how they understand Yoruba to a fair extent just by staying in Lagos for three months, six months.
