You forgot that they receive allowances something most people in private sector don't get. I earn more than them monthly, but with their allowances, I think they are still better than some in private sector, beside their work is stress free

Unfortunately, you didn't know that some lecturers are realtors too. Most of them engage in other businesses that bring more money than salary.

But of course you do not know that.

They may even get scholarships or grants that you won't get as easily as they can. Plus some of them work for INEC and earn money. They sometimes do consultancy. They work as facilitators for FG, world bank etc training, none of which you will qualify for.

What do they do to earn more?

In terms of research where do they stand?

That salary should be okay for them because our universities are just like advanced secondary schools.

If you add sorting, handout sales, text book sales..etc. the money would reach 1m.

The fact is you have to be corrupt before you can live comfortably in Nigeria.

This is not a bad salary considering the fact that Assistant Lecturership is meant for a fresh graduate with good grade like first class or 2.1. Are you saying 125k is too small for a fresh graduate to start life with? It is not too bad if not renewed shege induced inflation

That's true. I pay close to 65k as PAYE to one useless state government that I have never benefited one basic thing from.

Lol you are focusing on the salary.

When you should be focusing on the extreme extortion they are always involved in which will dwarf the salary.

Most Nigerian civil servants don't touch or spend their Salaries. They are mostly professional criminals.

That job is not even easy to get.
The pay is not high as such but the opportunity it presents is much.
Stop talking down on people's source of income

That amount wouldn't have been so poor if not for inflation. 150k now is like 65k before the broom party swept sanity aside.
