A professor which is the apex earns 400k+ in Federal Universities, that's very appalling if you ask me. Only very few universities pay their lecturers seven digit per month in Nigeria.

Can you please tell us about the allowances? Monthly? What does it cover for? Is it like marking, supervision, health or what? And finally, what is the average for a mid level academic in a Fed uni? Also to be sure, the allowances are not included in the gross pay the op presents here?

The 400k is for senior professors. A newly promoted professor does not earn up to 400k.

Unfortunately, you didn't know that some lecturers are realtors too. Most of them engage in other businesses that bring more money than salary.

But of course you do not know that.

They may even get scholarships or grants that you won't get as easily as they can. Plus some of them work for INEC and earn money. They sometimes do consultancy. They work as facilitators for FG, world bank etc training, none of which you will qualify for.

Gone are the days of analog lecturers.

Infact, a lecturing job gives you more exposure, respect than just been a realtor. it all depend on you - How you use the platform.

Just that because of the ever increasing unemployment rate in Nigeria, it's so difficult to get asst.lecturer job with only first degree.

To be honest, lecturers in Nigeria are not good. So, I don't see any reason they should earn more. Could you tell us how significant those 4 publications you have written? Lol. Nigerian publications are worthless. Innovations we are seeing are from publications and papers written by universities and research institutes. So, tell me, how many made-in-Nigeria publications have you heard that CEOs and CTOs make use of? If Nigerian publications aren't used by anyone, it means that they are worthless.

Lecturers teach old stuff here. Lol. Where are the papers they write? Lol. The very few ones performing attached themselves to universities abroad. Go and verify this.

So, why should they earn well? Tell me na. Why? No innovation, no discovery, no significant improvement. They are experts in sleeping with their daughters in schools...sex for grades. Lol.

Assistant Lecturer is post Masters rank. Fresh graduate comes in as Graduate Assistant. So with your 1st Degree and then Masters, you earn N118k (not 125k). The chart below is FG's chart for their salaries. Check the Net.
