Dear CDS – Gen. Musa Christopher Gwabin,
I have been hiding from insults by fellow Nairalands to share my ugly experience but today, I am not going to mind insults after reading your call.
I missed going abroad in belief to stay and fight for Nigeria with envidence of what I am sharing here today.
My dream to join the Nigerian Military with good knowledge of Science, artificial intelligence, and data Governance became a mess after leaving an insecurred driving job in 2020.
Since 2020, I have been applying for short service courses and recently I had a bitter experience with one of the previous enlistments where two of us that graduated from the year met this General for assistance. I let go of my admission abroad because I was 💯 sure of my enlightenment but to my greatest shock, I was not enlisted. Though I refused to agree with people around me that, " it's because the other guy is a Muslim". Why? because Muslims also help christians. Just been positive but inside of me I could sense bias b'cos my result was even better.

My questions to you still remain:

1. How can youth/ people stay back and fight for Nigeria when to secure jobs in this country is war and even the hope of joining the military is not considered after all military recruitments are based on tribal, ethnical, and religious sentiments?

2. How can we believe in Nigeria when jobs in this country is been shared by the elite class among their children and relations?

3. In your position as the CDS, since you came into office, has there been a call for SSC/DSSC? : The recent one I saw was for NAVY yet it was for Engineering graduates– how about those that read other courses but are willing to join?

4. Are you not aware that Nigeria has become a crime scene and many are willing to leave because of they lost hope in getting engaged in jobs that can keep them busy?

I know, few good people are reading this post right now. I shall come back on this platform to tell the whole world if anyone can help me join short service.

I am very much willing to join any of the Nigerian armed forces. This is my passion, not #money. If you decide to give me millions today and military service, I will still choose #Military.

NB*
Kindly send me a message in my Nairaland email and we will connect if you are willing to help but I have no money to bribe my passion if you have intentions to ask for money before helping me.
Thank you.

Gen Musa can only continue to deceive himself. Japa is not the solution but the present crop of grossly irresponsible kleptomatic politicians in Nigeria today does not inspire hope of any better future.

To stay back and fight for Nigeria is 3rd most foolish ideas in the world. It's more noble to become a tree in Vancouver than to fight for Nigeria!

You think so? I am not confuse. I'm only going for what I believe in. Nigeria is my country and she is worth dying for.
As a matter of fact, I am very much willing to apply again if there is another window for SSC/DSSC

The Nigerian military (officer cadre) is difficult to get into. I think same applies to other military forces all over the world. Na recruit cadre dem dey recruit everyone.

Should I say you are kidding me? Don't you see the numbers that graduates every year after short service enlightenment? My class mate never believed in joining army. Believe me, He took me there because the lady that directed me on how to meet the General asked me to go with someone that can speak Hausa to one of his boys. Besides, these Generals are powerful and can put anyone there if they want.

For me I think you seem not to really understand what you are about to embark on so many levels, to me the major problem you have is not even getting into the military but what you are about to do....

Aside from your passion, My question to you is what exactly do you want to solve in Nigeria through the Nigeria military by joining them ?

I hope this is not and interview anyway? Besides, I wouldn't know if you are the one to help me so, I'm answering this question in a more professional context.

The Nigerian military needs my experience in tech foresight, and ability to leverage on useful tools in combating insecurity and crime in Nigeria with herother missions. This is the only way I can live my life for others.

In summary, I know the Nigerian military has worked so hard and overstretched. They everything possible to make Nigeria a safe place for everyone, some even lost their lives in the process and so, they need more resilient, determined and passionate hands who are willing to push them beyond limits. More importantly my experience in data gathering, governance and artificial intelligence would be useful for the advancement of their work.
Thank you.

Firstly, this is not an interview and I don't work with the military.

Secondly, your plans are really good but I just feel you are not fully aware of what you are about to go against, I don't know your age but I will speak from my own experience.

I was born in the military era and I saw the strength and capability of the Nigeria military, this was a time technology had not advanced like now, but Nigeria was a lot safer, it was very strange to hear of kidnappings...

There was nothing like militants, when I mean nothing, I mean no group that had a name existed as militants or terrorists, we only heard of cult groups and armed robbers.

In the days of Abacha, he controlled the security system of Nigeria so tight that it was almost impossible for any group of persons(terrorist or not) to hold any portion of Nigeria like it is now, Nigeria military was celebrated in Africa that peace was restored in west African countries by our military, I watched Abacha celebrated in some of these west African countries as a hero.

So the question is what happened?

Democracy, when democracy came OBJ tried to still manage the military in a good form but the cracks still formed a bit with a little bit of corruption here and there which he tried to still curtail.

By the time he was already leaving office, Nigeria already had militants, fast forward to Jonathan's time and the corruption increased in the military supported by the politicians and by the end of Jonathan's time we had full blown terrorists in the north combined with the militants.

Fast forward to Buhari's time and the corruption kept increasing in the military and at the end of Buhari's time we had, bandits, kidnappers, Fulani herdsmen, militants, terrorists and others.

Nigeria's military budget is bigger than, Benin republic, Togo, Liberia and Sierra Leone combined, yet those places are safer than Nigeria today, do you know that each year the military budget keeps increasing and as it increases the insecurity increases with it.

What does that tell you? The insecurity in Nigeria has turned to a huge fraud, it is not like the military does not know what to do but the people in charge don't want it to stop.

Each year you hear of the military generals buying properties and stealing billions in the name of fighting the insecurity.

The insecurity is now a conduit pipe to enrich themselves, now the politicians are aware of this and in full support of them for 2 reasons.

1. To distract the military generals from ever plotting a coup by allowing them steal their way into riches than thinking of power.

2. To make the military system more of a political tool under their control.

Do you think the current CDS actually wants the insecurity to end?

Do you know what that means to him, it means free meal is gone, he won't make money again like his predecessors.

That's why I shake my head each time I hear of Nigerian soldiers dying in war front against terrorists, to me I just see them that they arevdying for nothing.

Because already the system is skewed against them from the very military itself, then you have the saboteurs in the system for various reasons, political, religious, ethnic, money too.

That was why I wasn't surprised about your experience in the recruitment process which rejected you over the other guy.

I would have loved to say more now, but I have to get back to work, I just want to let you know what you will be going against, if you were doing this for Israel, Canada, America or their likes I would have not had any issue with your plan.

I am not saying you should not continue, but just know ahead what you about to go against, because you are not only going against terrorists but the military itself and by proxy the politicians.

There are evidences from military officers and soldiers of corruption and sabotage from the top that has coated lives of soldiers and civillians and nothing has really been done about such reports because they don't want to do anything about it...

So think your plan well and decide what and how you want go about it, you might still be the solution to end all of these nonsense too, but I just said I should let you know.

Brendaniel,
I wish more Nigerian youth will read your analogy. This is well articulated and as a matter of fact, I owe you a big time appreciation. This is deep !🥲

Thank you so much for giving your kind support, time, and encouragement to see reasons for my future decision. I am in 20s but that does not mean I am naive about some of this important things mentioned and I agree with you completely on so many challenges that await my decision.

Since I was 10, I never thought of any profession except military. Maybe I would have gone through NDA but that is a story for another day. But I have really been through so many situations that thought me a great lesson to date concerning my choice

Remember in my narration, I made mention of loosing an opportunity to further my education abroad but that is all missed. I still hope someone somewhere will still grant me my heart desire. My father in his Blessed memory really wanted me in military and until his death, I clearly heard him mentioned it 4x I should do him this favour.

During my undergraduate, ex- military secretary to NA whom my father knew sent me a message on whatsapp himself to go online and register. Unfortunately, my final year papers were delayed and there was no possiblity my result will be ready to face the screening board. That was an opportunity missed forever because he never take or return my calls after my NYSC
However, that passion and willingness never go away. Except I have an opportunity in other country's Military like the USA, UK, Canada anything military service is a welcome idea.

@Brendaniel,
You see, there are still good people around but they are scared of what the society has become. Helping someone today may make you regret tomorrow but in my honest case, I am asking for a chance to change the narrative.

I know there are people who read this post and passed but there are few who are saying something within their heart just like you took time to advise me...

Dear readers of this post, you can refer me to someone or call to see me in person if you want to see me provided you are calling me in a safe place to assist me. Please I don't need you to give me money, just help me into military service. If you ask me to choose, I will go for Airforce or Army. Even if you want me to pay you back while in service, I will be giving you part of my salary till I settle you completely in a signed written agreement but right now, I don't have money to give.

Please, if you know you have what it takes to help me, help me and I promise, you won't be disappointed. Incase you have the strength to help, please do and history will be kind to you and your family.

My email is open in my nairaland account to reply you.

NB* I appreciate few emails I have received concerning my personal plea with you on my passion. I have no money now to offer you to facilitate the process at this time but I appreciate your kind response to help.
May God bless you.

Thank you 🙏🏽
