Should i answer ‘Yes’ to the question

“do you now or will you in the future require immigration sponsorship to work”

Or i should just go with ‘No’ for now so it wont affect my chances

We just answer same way we would at work. There was probably no need for the oga at the end.

If I m having a not particularly good day, i skip the question till when i m feeling better.

1. I wasn't impolite. I responded and gave actionable advice. I even suggested keywords instead of just saying 'go to Google'.
2. If they follow my advice, they'd get where they need to be in two clicks. Yours would take three, and involve more time and uncertainty.

Your being sanctimonious to me might feel good, but it's actually not helpful if you don't prompt people to learn how to sort basic things out. Think: Will they come on Nairaland every time they want to apply for something in the UK? In asking people for such things, won't they be at risk of being given false information when they could simply do basic research and find the info they need?

Unless you have ILR or are a dependent or a citizen, Yes you do need sponsorship .

The question comes up while applying for jobs and I don’t know anything about the companies besides what they write in their “About us”. I am more concerned about my application being rejected if i select Yes

Salesforce Admin is a very good route into Salesforce consulting. Lots of organisations are transitioning into Salesforce(even the NHS) so lots of opportunities. If you get good into the salesforce admin role, you can get remote roles. Salesforce Trailhead is a great way to learn salesforce for free regardless of the salesforce path one wants to go into.

Since you already have PSW, say no but they will definitely ask you what type of visa you have and you mention same. It shouldn't affect your chances though except the organisation is employing long term in which case 2 years might be too small for them. But I think you shouldn't worry about this for now, concentrate on getting yourself invited for interview. I applied with a student visa and was called up for several interviews, so I don't think its any big deal. All the best.

You should also research companies on the UK Skilled Worker Sponsor lists ...my bro @Hustla can help you with that or you scour on the Gov.uk website.

Know someone who was in a similar situation this time last year as her student visa was expiring Jan. 30, her Uni said no visa extension and she was lucky enough to get a job that same January that offered sponsorship to escape the possibility of being an overstayer, she switched visa and finally resubmitted her project in April and graduated in July while on skilled worker visa.

I knew someone back then at Anglia Ruskin who was asked to go and complete the resit in home country since visa was expiring. Your friend’s unique circumstances may help get an exemption. But the school may insist they’re not going to extend nada.

Catch 22 ..... If you tick Yes, and an equally qualified candidates says NO....... They might select the other candidate, but you don't want to say No, then require sponsorship........😁

But best to be upfront and honest...... Also when going for an interview, it's important to have some knowledge, about the company (they might simply ask you '' what do you know about this organisation " You don't want to be gazing into the ceiling.......😄🤣

I parked on a yellow line during kids' school rush hour last month and I got a ticket notice. I was willing to pay anyway because it was clear I parked wrongly.

I didn't get any ticket or letter until yesterday when I received council letter saying I didn't pay my fine within 14 days and so forfeit the chance of paying 50% so I'll have to pay full £70 now.

I'm confused because I didn't receive their first notice. Is there a way I can challenge this and pay 50% i.e £35?

The ticket notice you received was the first one. If you read it carefully it should say that there would be a discount for early payment. Otherwise, call and explain that the time limitation wasn’t stated so can a concession be made for you. Try and sound hungry. If possible suggest that you are struggling and wouldn’t want to add more to your plate- all very gently. Hopefully you get someone nice.

P.S- Because it’s the council you can’t ignore. Some tickets you can actually ignore. It depends.

What visa are you on?

If it's PSW or any other where you wouldn't need their sponsorship to start and for like a year, I would answer 'no'.

Edit: just saw that it's PSW. Definitely answer 'no'.

Many companies use that question to screen people out so answering yes might mean you don't progress to interview at all. It's not lying either, because you have two years and you've not said you want to be with them or even in the UK after then.

The key thing is to get to the interview. Once you're in the role, it'll be much more straightforward to get them to sponsor or to find a role that'll sponsor you after getting experience in your first year or so.

I've seen both happen with quite a few people.

And both of you couldn’t take 3 minutes to search online, but to come to Nairaland and ask the most rudimentary question?

Yes I get that, but sometimes you need to get your foot in the door before you mention these things. If you are asked if you would need it in te future, of course the answer would be yes except you are getting your ILR while on the job but then situations may change ...I may anticipate not needing sponsorship in the future today but tomorrow that changes (vice versa). During recruitment process, recruiters don't want anything that would distract them so they use these things to sift applications out. My thoughts though

The question is about sponsorship from that specific company and role.
