Conflict of interest
You cannot award contract to your company

Very simple, he should divest his shareholding and pay back any dividends he received after that contract. This one is much less clear cut than pretty Betta

1. At the very least, the contract should be voided.

2. All monies collected under the contract so far should be returned to the Federal government.

3. If the minister complies with 2 & 3 above, he should then be demoted to a Minister of State in another ministry.

But, in any other country, a person securing a contract from a government in which he is a serving Minister is liable to be sacked immediately. No ifs or buts.

The man's poor excuse of only being a shareholder and not a director of the company is risible.

It is corruption. Full stop. He should go.

If he's complicit, there's no need for soft landing. The law should take it's course.

Chai!
This man has impressed even the naysayers

But then, if found guilty, he has lost the moral rights to reprimand or even discipline any erring staff that collect 'rogers' at passport offices.
Guilty of what exactly?

It is what it is. Kemi Adeosun was arguably the most open and hardworking under Buhari and always upholding her social contract with Nigerians with regular updates on her activities as minister, liked or not, but she had to go, and that coincided with that government's total loss of connection with Nigerians. The other ministers were probably like, what's the point? You do o, you don't do o, they will still complain.

Nothing emotional here.

What are the rules? That's basic. Conflict of interest rule for a start.

It is startling that you think a minister securing a contract from the government he is serving in is acceptable.

This is corruption in any way you look at it.

Can this happen in the UK, US, or anywhere in Europe, Singapore etc Absolutely not.

Foreign observers and potential investors will read news like this and just shake their heads in disgust at the never ending corruption in this country.

Ok na. Continue to support atrocious behaviour.

What exactly is conflict of interest rule and how does it apply here

Parroting that does not make it apply or indicate that you know what you are talking about? What is the conflict? of interest rule? can you articulate it as it operates in Nigerian law?

I think the best way to eliminate corrupt politicians from government is jail them for life once they were caught . Tinubu should rise up and flush out the corrupt leaders in all systems ,we know them , they are many, they are killing the systems , let EFCC be effective and proactive.

This is one of the best hands Ashiwaju appointed but if he is found guilty, he is going to be thrown out.

Omoluabis were not brought up to support crimes.

For those asking if Tinubu is still in-charge, yes he is.

They can't understand the meaning of ọmọluabi.

It would be such a shame if this man goes down. Why would you award a contract to a company which you are one of the owners (as a shareholder). That's like Basics 101. Maybe it's time for ministers and other govt officials to start attending compliance training courses before taking on their ministerial & other duties, because ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Is this what happened? Was he involved in any way in securing contract for the company?
Nigerians would like to know.
If in fact he did that, then it is corruption. But there's no evidence so far that he did.

It is called corruption fighting back and that is the more reason they need to ensure their hands are clean. After all you cannot be accused of what you did not do.
