SocialJustice: ° Brodaman, So you plant the beans and maize you eat? Farmers will ignore you cuz Def, you've never seen a growing plant before. Start home garden and learn nature. Tell me country that doesn't use chemicals, It is either the seed has been careful fine-tune over the years in the lab to give them the disease resistant seed or a solution to cure the affect of the insects or disease. Like when you go to hospital na herbs and agbo doctor go give you. Op learn from farmers don't be discouraged by people who can't invest but can only buy from the comfort market women give them. If you know the risk and labour farmers go through, food should be the most expensive product in the market especially in Africa where our form of agriculture is .... Those mass produced food all over the world you know his they did? Open mouth waaa cuz you can type, ° ***Jarchi*** 1 Like |

Number 1 that is a fake dd force secondly why u dey apply chemical almost time to harvest thirdly how many times will u people learn to apply chemicals by side not on plants... fourthly you should have consulted an expert to mix the DDT with another chemical to reduce the effect on crops... Good for you next time you go learn |

Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by achorladey: 8:15pm On Jan 10 |
SocialJustice: Realities says everybody cannot grow their food because of good farmers like you have limited knowledge of what farming practices entails You love eating clean beans with no weevils yet you close your eyes to the reality applied in getting such clean beans prepared on your table. Your problem started with saying how can a farmer apply insecticide on beans knowing you don't know simple essence the farmers does that is to prevent infestation by pests of beans Pesticides are substances applied to crops to control pests, they include herbicides to kill weeds, fungicides to kill fungi and insecticides to kill insects. Eat your weevils free beans in peace and be thankful a farmer was knowledgeable enough to do the needful somewhere in order for you to have it on your table. 1 Like |

This thing killed all my corn 🌽 back during the pandemic. It was painful to see other people have bountiful harvests, I already had dreams of how my family and I will boil corn every evening and eat with good old coconut. Alas! It was not meant to be. My pepper and yam farm did very well though.

From looking at the farm, it's wasn't the time to put DDFORCE. It is at the last stage of the beans i.e before harvest. When the beans is already drying in the farm, that is when you apply ddforce. 1 Like |

Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by rhef(m): 9:21pm On Jan 10 |
janedonez:Don't be deceived. The DD Force has actually damaged your plants! This is your probable mistakes; You poured the Insecticide directly into the sprayer without thorough agitation. Remedy: Always ensure that you mix, by agitation, the Insecticide in a bowl of water before pouring it to the sprayer. Contrariwise, if you pour the Insecticide directly to the sprayer then pump or pressurize the sprayer to the fullest and eject the solution to the ground or spray away for about 10 seconds before applying it on the plants. High concentration of DD Force often occur in the first 2 minutes of application, even if one measure the chemical according to the exact dosage. It damaged some of my tomato cultivars in 2023! Insecticide like Attacke, Lara force didn't behave this way. DD Force is pretty powerful than the two above. The major challenge to DD Force usage is that it takes longer time to mix water, relatively. It's pretty better to mix it, through thorough agitation, in a bowl of water before pouring the solution to the sprayer than mixing it with water inside the sprayer! janedonez: You most definitely had some herbicides in the machine used for the spraying. |
Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by Echonosenny: 1:08am On Jan 11 |
It's not a matter of herbicide remnant in the sprayer. I've seen DD force kill grasses before when over the chemical is concentrated. I don't recommend dd force for direct spray though. Better still reduce the concentration say 10ml/ 15l instead of 25ml/15l.. |
Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by Echonosenny: 1:10am On Jan 11 |
Speaking from experience. Same Happened to my tomato farm. Dd force is very strong.. |

Jarchi:You need to educate yourself of the effects of these chemicals you praise to high heaven. Glyphosphate and other chemical used as weed killer made by Monsanto's are chemicals that kill people slowly. Monsanto is not called the evil corporation for nothing. Memoranda 311 in full force Gmo seeds and chemicals you think are wonders are a way for drug and food companies to hold people hostage. Call it conspiracy theory and you'll be 100% wrong. It's either you learn or them use person learn. Eat or get eaten. Here in Uganda if I see say you use chemical dey plant na only you go eat your crop oooo because from that day I say bye bye. Glyphosphate is cancerous believe it or not 1 Like |

Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by bikefab(m): 7:26am On Jan 11 |
You didnt properly dilute it before spraying. That's probably why it had such effects on your plants. It is still very corrosive |
Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by adurakeepme(f): 9:00am On Jan 11 |
I would have advised other AIs to control insects(lambda cyhalothrin, Cypermethrin, Emamectin benzoate, etc). DDVP is too harsh. Also, thorough weed control and frequency of insecticide spraying should always be done. Just my small take but cowpea cultivation is really a good business if you do the right thing. |
Re: Help Nairalanders, My Farm Is Going Down by adurakeepme(f): 9:03am On Jan 11 |
DDVP is actually meant for home use and long term storage(6months or more). |

online4business: ° Brodaman, That's why we have regulating bodies, to check and balance the system. I'm a strong advocate for natural medicine that I practice with my broilers but for commercial venture, what's the alternative? That's why I said he should learn from others, it's a mistake he won't repeat anymore, my take was the way the person I quoted talked him down without solution. Agriculture is at the hands of lab scientists and greedy capitalist, we are just lab rats. We can't farm all we eat, that's why we need strong regulating bodies and more funding for educational and research institution to bring cheap solutions to our indigenous problems ° ***Jarchi*** |
