How are you coping bro...mine is just for a month now and I'm already feeling the heat. I'm tired bro
Man... it's depressing, each new day alive is a miracle bro. I can't complain or cry to anyone but keep trying, praying and hoping for the best.

Earning 30k as a graduate is a crime, but some people are bent on working for someone!
Oga be calming down, you can think from now till tomorrow and have billions of ideas, in the end you still need money to start up. Or do you teach skills for free? If I ask you for money now to register for any training would you give me? Don't blame people who are looking for a means to be able to pay for their most basic needs at least.

Not against the 30k but with the level of insecurity in Nigeria today, it's quite risky. Why not look for a teaching job to start with then try your luck by applying for other jobs.

Stop asking questions and grab it before another person takes it or do you have another offer for now?

I know you feel the job is demeaning considering your educational background but my brother, now is not the time to be selecting jobs. This is a period of survival and so you need to do something to survive at the moment while you keep searching for your choice job.

If you decide to wait until your dream job comes, pray you'll still be alive to do the job unless you have someone catering for you.

Take the job.

This you?

I have a friend who works in the same company where i work at the moment. How did he come in?

He was working as a security guard (supervisor) attached to my company, the difference between his salary and that of other security guys is just 5k if I'm not mistaking.

While at the gate, he was very friendly and down to earth most especially with the big guys in the company. At a point, there was vacancy for a position in the company, and he got to know about it. Rather than applying online, he took his CV by hand to the receptionist (as someone who had built bridges), and begged her to help him submit it as soon as possible. He was among those chosen for that role.

We now work together as colleagues.
So, there is no harm in starting from somewhere in other to be in that place you desire. It's all about determination, perseverance and vision.
But i will encourage you to be humble, it's VERY essential.

There are two types of self reliance.

First one is being a single businessman

Second one is being a businessman with over 500 workers under u.

If u are in the first one, u are still the same thing with an employee.

richie240:
Someone defined 'JOB' as "the temporary comfort that perpetually makes u forgo your dreams".

You may take this job, for now, but you must seek to be self-reliant ie be ur own boss; this is the very certain way for you to be rich/wealthy.

I wish I had someone to tell me this as a student, I won't have spent unnecessary years searching for jobs. Now, I'm my own boss and I wish I knew this trick earlier.

I rest my case.

I was once like you...the first job that came to me as a graduate back then in 2013 was a teaching job of 13k.
.I did it for a year and an uncle linked me up in his company with a security job of 35k...I left the teaching job and started working as a security officer...I was into this for 7years until I was redesignated to Account dept as an Accounting officer, with a level 8 grade. So... everything in life is about choice and luck anyways. Pray and continue praying for the best. Trust me, the journey may not be easy. It's not just easy self but keep pushing and hoping for the best....above all never stop praying. Best of luck šŸ¤ž

35k for 7 years??

Don't you dare accept a 30K job! That's like #500 per day! Tufia! With your level of education, please think outside the box and find a skill that you can sell to the world. The problem with doing that kind of menial job is that it will obstruct your creative thinking skills and restrict you to someone who is merely 'surviving' as against living. angry angry

30K job, 50k job and all those yeye jobs are like traps for graduate. Only a few graduates have been able to free themselves from it after wasting away their productive years. My brother, learn a skill or think of using the one you have to make a living. Don't fall for that trap you may not get out of it.

30K kwa? Tufia! Even POS people are paid more than that.

**1k per day u meant**

**That -bolded- has already bn proven .
Or else, why shd one spend 12 years in school only to graduate and be financially no where to be compared with a 10 year old boy who did 8 years apprenticeship with his Oga and is already financially established by age of twenty while his western education-pursuung counterparts is still roaming the streets in his 30s looking for 'job'.

He gives testimony in church for securing an 80k job, an amount his skill/trade-enabled counterpart controls in 2 days.

Go to any phone repairer and sit there for just 1 hr and you'll see what I'm saying. To touch your phone at all, d minimum they'll collect is 1k - and higher depending on d phone quality.
Guestimate what they are making each day.

I'm currently handling a N30k job with plans to save up and acquire tech skills by the end of the year.

If you make plans and see that salary as a means of shoring up capital to follow your dreams, you'll eventually hit it big.

Avoid women, lavish spending or show-off and you'll soon be made.

Women that should be helping someone is what we've got to avoid.

You are still your own boss bro, whether 'sole-proprierorship, partnership or multinational, and cannot be compared with a salary earner.

Even as a one-man company you can still blow big-time as u are in total control of your profits, but you can't say so with a salary earner who operates under a salary cap.

Moreover, who says a one-man biz cannot graduate to a multinational tmr??
Oh, u thought the coscharis and innosson motors started with 500 employees?

How much do you intend to be saving monthly from #30k?

Honestly.
Ask the guy.
Because I don't understand like is it to set aside 5,000 per month? for how long? it will take you years before you save up any reasonable amount that can really set up you for life. Unless you have other things you're doing along with the job that can get you money.

That's low. That's what I earned as a youth corper in 2008. It is well with Nigeria.

But if I were you, I would take the "survival/transition" security job, you could meet high networth individuals that could connect you to better jobs. If you sit at home, you wouldn't be able to meet people that may be able to connect you. Just be friendly and be of good behaviour. Put on a smile everytime, and people will notice you, naturally like you, and will be willing to help upgrade your status.

In Nigeria and most part of the world including the saner climes, connection goes a long way.
How much was your federal allowance as at that year?

Nigerians are outrightly messed up and overly emotional about shit and piss jobs

Y'all hold onto dead end jobs with so much strength no wonder our country is worse than a pigs pen, any small post about job, everybody will be telling you to hold on and continue enduring rubbish

I advise him to reject that job if it doesn't align with your dreams,,,, brother do you even have an ambition ,

Jobs yakpa for this country!!!! Successful businesses raking in billions of naira yearly, but how would you know when you prefer to curse your leaders instead of take action

Learn how to write CV, package yourself, read, learn how to get a job through online applications.

Leverage on people willing to help you, be it strangers, friends or family, have determination in your life bro

Majority of Nigerians are too lazy and pessimistic about their lives, from universities giving you rubbish and you accept to employers giving you rubbish you still accept, politicians will still give you rubbish and you will accept why then will life itself not throw rubbish at you?

Omo Una too the encourage nonsense for this country

May God Bless You For This.

No mind me jare, I typed it in anger. I wonder why most graduates cannot break away from that 'survival mentality' and think creatively. I recently just resigned my job this last December to focus on my Private Business. I'm talking about a 6 figure salary job o. After auditing myself for 2023,I realized that my side hustle paid me more than twice what the 7 to 5 job paid me. I kukuma resigned to focus on my Private Business. Although the year is still early but I'm already enjoying that decision. Stress don comot for my life, my head and thought is now filled with plans. cheesy cheesy

Whatisurproblem:
for those advising you to take the job, bad advice #30k as a graduate will ruin you! It will send you into depression, as a security, the moment you open gate for 200Level student who is driving Venza, you will be more frustrated and demoralized, this is the reality. A plate of indomie now is #1000, let's say you eat twice a day, #30k won't feed you for 15days! You will need toothpaste and soap, if your clothes wear, can you afford another one? Probably you will need transport. Forget that food once a day, they will humiliate you with type of food they will give. My advice for you is this, what skill do you have? If you put it to use, you can save #30k a month after your expenses, you must have a skill, that's why you are a graduate, like can you drive? Get someone to give you a car for Bolt, with time you can get atleast #15k for yourself daily. If you can work 4times in a week , you know what you can get, and the caliber of people you meet can help your destiny. But as a security, everyone will look down on you. If you can't drive, there are other better skill you must have as a graduate that will pay better and decent.
The best advice here

Grab it bro, the street ain't friendly, I'm also a security guard, if you are in ibadan, their is a vacancy where I guard and the pay is 35k.
Bro, no reason am, everywhere go green sooner or later, I know say you fit dey feel say you deserve more than that, yes you do but at least you make do of what is available, I been dey reason say I no go fit run am but when debts dey look me eyeball to eyeball and hunger hold me wey I no see food chop for three days, na only water I been dey take, I needed to take the security offer. Hunger no go be our portion oo. Brace up boss, you go experience disgrace, people go look down on you as far say you wear that security uniform but dey try comot mind from any sheeet wey you go encounter and reason am say you dey fight hunger no be another person u dey fight.
Better days ahead bro. Cheers.
