Maternity is protected under employment law, and employers are required to adhere to regulations regarding maternity leave and rights. This could be considered discriminatory.

Would advise to seek legal advice specializing in employment law or workers' rights.

If you are registered under union would advice to contact them as they might provide you with some advice m.

Could google (skilled worker caseworker guidance’ ) there is an information there that states reason why sponsorship can be withdrawn which I believe maternity is not included.

Could seek advice from CitizenAdvice also I think.

This is just a guess: =>be very sure that you are not at fault in this area probably maybe you utter a sentence or clause regarding resuming earlier if given the COS which might be the reason why the employer asking you to resume.

The devil is in the details…. Woman was working (most likely zero hour contract).
Woman went on maternity leave. Woman realised her visa was about to expire. Woman got into panic state. Woman went and pleaded with employer to help her, with a CoS. Employer says they have a contract with local council to provide support services and they need people who are able to start immediately. Woman (probably) because of visa expiry dateline accepts the conditions. Employer agrees. Woman heaves a sigh of relief that at last, she will not be illegal /overstayer. Okay now, time to resume. Woman fails to resume. This means employer is not able to fulfill contractual agreements with council. Employer decides to withraw Cos, so as to allocate same to someone who is able to start immediately. Makes perfect sense (to me).

Tell her to go and join union. Union go like a case like this as Pregnancy and Matenity remain one of the 9 protected characteristics that no employer mess up with .

CoS is not an employment contract.
Even if she joins Unison, Unite, GMB, they will require her to have an employment contract before they can pursue any case.

Like I mentioned before, this woman should go and beg the employer.

My take on this: Let her plead, beg, implore , beg and plead with the employer to give her some time to arrange child care.
From my experience of these matters (and based on what you have posted here), it will amount to a massive waste of her time, resources and mental health if she pursues some of the options being mentioned by respondents here.

Posers are:
a. She verbally told employer she would be on mat leave for 9 months? Where is the evidence such a thing was agreed?

b. When she was on a tier-4 dependant visa and working for this employer (note my choice of words, I didn’t use EMPLOYED), did she sign a contract? Was she on zero-hours contract or permanent employment?

c. Was she interviewed before she was given a CoS? What does the transcript of the interview say? Did she agree at interview that she will start immediately? What was the agreed start date at interview?

d. A CoS is NOT a job contract. If the employer decides to revoke a CoS, the employer could cite that the prospective employee provided false (or misleading) information during interview.

Etc…..

In conclusion, tell this woman to beg, plead and plead again and again. She (actually) has no locus standi to claim wrongful dismissal.

💯 To this, especially the bolded.

Sometimes people on here are quick to advise taking the legal route against an employer etc , forgetting that it's not just a woman/employee/renter etc who has rights. Employers have protected rights as well, especially if they can evidence that due process has been followed.

Best to establish the facts around any contracts in place, official COS obligations etc before advising her to fight her employer.

Imagine, She pleaded for CoS finish (which she was lucky to have considering the circumstances, now time to resume work mama is getting advice to sue her employer.

She better workout a temp.nanny for her baby till she figures things out at home/work balance.

Sorry about your FRIEND.
Please, any ideas what may have caused your friend to be asked to rewrite project?

I knew someone back then at Anglia Ruskin who was asked to go and complete the resit in home country since visa was expiring. Your friend’s unique circumstances may help get an exemption. But the school may insist they’re not going to extend nada.

Also finished from Anglia Ruskin and had a course mate who had issues with her dissertation and visa was expiring in weeks, ARU refused any visa extension and advised her move to her home country to complete and re-submit from there.......a switch to skilled worker visa saved her!

Also, if her current COS gets cancelled, even if she goes to the tribunal, she may only get the employer/home office to reissue another one not restore the old COS, meaning her dependants residency becomes at risk

"Now that “cat-and-mouse game” of police and thieves has started a new round with criminal gangs, many from Eastern Europe, stealing high-value cars, stripping them out in what the police call “slaughter houses”, putting the parts into containers and shipping them out".

Very confused writer when all the videos I've seen of people stealing cars, na European guys

I doubt they would do that for a post-2018 range rover.

It is an affluent-spec car, most owners buy directly from dealers brands brand new not second hand for a car of this type. Definitely not buy one that has had major surgery of this type.

It is more likely in a fellow european country with RHS driving but racism did not let them reach that conclusion which is more logical.

To whom it may concern.

Abortion is free of charge. Please note.

If you are on a student visa, no go get pregnant oh cos it may affect your stay unless your husband has got a COS and and take care of the family.

If you are here on care visa, no go get pregnant and then be looking for a way around. Many people are still looking for COS so don't spoil market fir them and for yourselves. A company that issues COS for you has an expectation and such must be met. If you need to born due to age, then your husband should go get COS. It is as simple as that.

Make una no go consult one useless union to fight for you oh, nobody will fight for you and if they Don, you are at risk of losing your visa. He who seeks equity, must do equity.

We all know this is the case but how will they get the clicks they want

Most stolen vehicles in Naija are from Canada / US, not UK where you'll go through the stress of converting a RH RR Cullinan to Left

Who go buy am?

In Nigeria , where people pay cash not 5% deposit,. very few are that stupid to buy a car of 50-60M which is not just second had but has been converted from RHS to LHS.

If as a dealer, you sell such car to someone in a country where refunds do not happen, your life will be at risk when the person fiinds out. If you do it to someone for a 2M car, you may escape, but someone who pays you 50M likely has the wherewithal to cause hugh problems if you try that with them

You can search for Easy insurance (https://www.eazyinsure.co.uk/terms_conditons.php), they are brokers and they got me a good deal, far better than I got from those compare websites. You could give them a try.

Merry Christmas folks

This was good info. I'm working with them now and they got me £1600 but they're still trying to get something better, fingers crossed.

UPDATE: I didn't use them. I was able to get a cheaper one of £1400 on comparethemarket.

Tears, wailing and gnashing of teeth don start. We never even use 2 months for the new year grin

Data from Enroly, a web platform used by one in three international students for managing university enrolment, showed that deposit payments were down 37 per cent compared to last year.

New analysis for UUK by consultants PwC found that the combination of falling international student numbers, frozen tuition fees, rising staff wage bills and a softening in UK student numbers was leaving the sector facing a perfect storm.

Hi everyone , please I need urgent advice. We are on 2yrs student and dependent visa. We decided to opt of the 2yrs course and graduate after a year since the second year is for professional placement and not compulsory. Presently we
have a care company ready to give my wife COS but they said they can't give it because our visa has September to expire despite that she has graduated November last year. Please how do get our visa curtailed so we can beat the deadline with the new policy starting spring.

Hello my people.
Please I have a question. My junior sister rented a shared apartment and sign a contract for 6 months. She has been staying there for 2 months plus and she found a better apartment close to her school. She called the landlord a Naija landlord that she wants to move out and she will get someone else to take over the room which the landlord agreed too. Now the problem is the person that took over the room has a cousin that they move in together. And other room mates are against that which they reported to the landlord in turn the landlord has asked the person to either tell the cousin to move out or they both move out. Now he called my sister and told her that she needs to move back in because he does not have the time to be looking for a new tenant which is not possible since she has gotten a new place and he also has been threatening her that she has to pay the next rent. My sister has messaged him that she informed him that she will be moving out and also forfeited her deposit on the house due to early move out. Please what can you guys advise as he is saying he will take legal action if he did not get the next rent payment on the 18th when the person that takes over the room moves out.
