Nice, maybe things have changed. We were definitely asked for the passport in 2018 and subsequently for renewal.

@originalposter just kuku log in and simulate an application to see what docs are required. It’s free.
Things have changed then, we used only birth certificate and visa was granted.

Suggestion and Advise needed

I have a contract Sim with Vodafone Uk ,paying 14pounds for Unlimited calls and 60gb data a months.

Currently moved to a new apartment and needed a broadband connection for my apartment.
Do anyone have suggestions on cheap broadband or rather a way I can manoeuvre my sim contract to get a good deal with Vodafone Broadband.
Thank you

URGENT PLEASE
Hello everyone. Please, my wife and I just relocated to the UK under the skilled visa. Though, I am the dependent here but I already got a job too. Right now, we are yet to secure our accommodation but we are seriously working on this. The issue is that we still have our kids with the grandparents back in Nigeria and we hope to have our kids join us soon. We have paid all the visa fees, and we are looking forward to booking their biometrics. However, we are contemplating that both grandparents retired (grandpa doesn't like travelling, he has only gone out for pilgrimage) or only grandma, who has more travel history ( she has been to Uk once, Qatar once, SA and UAE twice) accompany these kids to the UK by applying for visitor visa for them. What are the chances that both granparents will be given visa or grandma alone? Also, do we need to book the kids biometrics with the grannies for higher chance or we need to book their biometrics separately? Then what are the other things to consider so to have a successful visa for them? Will be counting on the wealth of experience here. Thank you and God bless!!

My people, I need your advice here. Thanks!

Greetings all

Please I’ll like to find out if anyone has recently applied for a PBS child dependent visa. I’m in the process of applying for my children (9,7 and 2yrs) and apart from their birth certificate and my bank statement, we are being asked to provide their evidence of financial support (their own bank statement)

I’ve drafted a letter stating they do not have bank accounts at the moment . However, I’ll like to find out if anyone had gone that route and if it was successful

TIA

Lack of accommodation may prove a challenge as you should be able to show that you’re able to accommodate your kids and grandparents. You’ve already gone ahead to pay for the visa fees but if I were you I’ll wait to resume my job, have proof of address and at least one pay slip to show proof of income.

Guys, does anyone have experience with Egypt Air? it's the cheapest we've seen but the layover is too long.

is it advisable?

Plan to have fun, for long layovers (not sure of the duration) they will lodge you in a 5 star hotel in the city with good food. If you have time, you can tour. Just make sure you don't miss the bus conveying you back to the airport for your next flight.

Consider talktalk full fibre broadband.

I pay less that £30/month, unlimited data, up to 75 devices can be connected and it's superfast.

If you would like to consider, I can provide my referral code, if you use it, both of us get £50 cashback, at least that can settle your 2 months bill. Without referral, both of us get nothing 😊

I pay £17/month for virgin media broadband. 250MBps and with three wifi extenders to ensure coverage accross the house. You can use my referal code http://aklam.io/dtoBBO we'll both receive £50 if you use the link.
Virgin and O2 is also linked, so if your contract expires, you can switch over to O2 if the coverage is great in your area and get a good deal as well.

I got them as part of my contract initially. I had a few devices that i needed to be wired in, so I requested them as part of my initial setup, then called them that I still had connectivity issues a short while later and then sent another one. I'd say just ring them and make a request.

Just your bank statememt is enough. For mine, I didn't bother writing any letter of explanation. I just uploaded their birth certificate, my husband’s account statement, and a letter from their school confirming their enrollment in school.

Omo...£17/month, 250MBps with 3 extenders.

Virgin Media is not available in my area I would have cancelled my talktalk sharp sharp because I'm still in the cooling off period.

How come I didn't see this deal in comparison sites, did you negotiate with them directly or it's been long you got the contract?

I believe this might be one of those deals where you pay half price for the initial 6 months and full price later(i might be wrong), I got BT for £16 initially and eventually turns to £28. Although I haven't paid a dime in the past 15 months as they gave me credit as it took several months before they came to setup .

Wahala wahala wahala....

Out with a couple of friends, one of the guys works as a health care assistant. Moved into the uk in 2022 as a dependant. Currently earns £1605 or thereabout as take home pay after tax. Due to child care, he couldn't work more hours, said this is the reason he's earning such doing his 40hrs a week and claimed he is comfortable as his wife earns almost same too being the main applicant sponsored.

The wahala there is that, another bobo that works in construction blatantly told him, that is not a decent pay despite him covering 40hrs shift a week. Na so kasala burst o! Clash of egos, ironically, both of them just entered same time. Construction oga said he earns above £2k after tax. Told them even £1500 after tax is a decent pay, but the arguements is now causing a scene. I don book uber leave them. Our new entrants should take it easy.

Please people, has any of the below happened, and what are the implications?

Parents applied for Graduate visa and couldn't do so for the kids, all less than 6years old, because of fund.

Particular questions
1. Is there anyway it affects or will affect the parents visa?
2. In what specific ways does it affect the children?
3. What if the family doesn't have long term plan living here. Looking at moving elsewhere in near future. Does it matter or wouldn't it be a waste of scarce money ( let's say that have it) applying for children that won't be needing a brp for anything or right to work?

These are the kind of nonsense I am sorry to say you see black people (especially daft headed Nigerians) arguing about.

I see three unintelligent people in that gathering: the construction guy for not being able to empathize, the health care assistant guy allowing himself to be drawn into such an argument when the best line of action would be to ignore and lastly you for bringing such question here.

My reply is harsh and maybe unnecessary but it's the truth.

1. The parents visas might not be approved as Home office might enquire about the whereabouts of the children (if they were included in the student visa application)

2. If the parents visas are approved without applying for the children, then the children fall out of status/become overstayers. They will not be able to re enter the UK if they leave for whatever reason e.g. holidays, and they no longer qualify for free non emergency NHS treatment, which means their parents might get sent a bill for any hospital treatments.

3. Might not matter in the long term if the parents plan to leave the UK eventually. However the points in #2 still apply while they are based in the UK. Plus any periods of overstaying will be noted on the children's records

It's things like this that lead to new entrants getting pressured unnecessarily. Life should be easy but we tend to make it difficult when we look into other people's garden without knowing the efforts that goes into keeping it green.

Health are and construction work are two different fields and you don't expect them to offer same wage plan. Likewise spending habits. What is convenient to one person may not to the other. Don't overdo pass yourself.

This has nothing to do with black people or Nigerians. People argue nonsense and allow their egos push them into d**k measuring contests all the time whether that’s based on income or other things. It’s definitely a human thing and not racial.

If you constantly come across this among black people you interact with, it’s a reflection of your circle and not a valid basis to generalize.

Comparison they say is the thief of joy. Figures will always be relative as what is decent pay for friend A might not be for friend B owing to several factors( lifestyle choices, location, family size, future plans etc) that are peculiar to each of them. They both should learn to be circumspect and enjoy their respective "decent pay" while putting in the work to better themselves so complacency does not set in.
