Been a serie A champion and top chart scorer; breaking so many records has overshadowed whatever martins achieved in his career….in a nutshell osimhen better pass martins
This is cheap takes. Martins was playing against generational defenders like Maldini, Nesta, Costacurta Canavaro while competing for game time with Adriano, Crespo and Vieri.
By the way Seria A was run by a corrupt mafia, alot of them went to jail for match fixing and Juve was relegated. You can't troll Martins for not winning the league.

If he was better than those strikers, he would be a starter and perhaps score more goals but he wasn't better. Oshimen was not only a starter but the best in Serie A. It's that simple

So Osimhen will start ahead of Crespo, Adriano and Vieri? Anako grin

Imagine having this setup for NPFL😆😁😁😁

This guy is such an analyst. Jamie Carragher can never!!!

He's broken down two major things i overlooked so far in this tournament. No Nigerian analyst fit do this one. Maybe Bolarinwa or Kiiibati sha. But i no dey see dem lately. SuperNerd go soon take over🤣

The ish is which team wants to exploit that Iwobi aspect now? That means we need to give the Angolan coach his flowers. If he had better technical players, they'll have done it more than twice.

Nigerian football is so so good that there are more talents outside the Recognized leagues than in these leagues. Imagine if we had the SA setup. There won't be need to be chasing peanuts that these pot bellied men do. The transfer fees will sort all that 100times over. Days of Ranchers Bees and Stationery Stores. Lol

I'm enjoying the Obafemi Martins VS Osimhen comparison on twitter.
I don't know what you guys think. I personally think Obafemi was a better finisher.
the better finisher argument is funny cos osimhen has more SE goals with 15 games lesser. Osimhen also has double of martin's serie a goals with just 8 more games. This debate is just filled with nostalgia, there is no basis to it.

it's arguments like this that retrogress Nigerian football, we always feel the past is better, too many emotions in our analysis. That's why a coach will do well, and win trophies but we will still feel another coach who has not won anything is better. A player whose goals have won trophies we still feel a player whose goals could not win laurels is better, It's just funny with the excuses we make for such silly arguments

let's even use the "substitute role and quality of players" excuse to double martin's goal tally to make it seem fair, he is still one goal short of osimhen's current number.

we all have nostalgia but let it be with some small wisdom, I listened to Taribo the other day, and he admitted that the current Super Eagles defenders are more physically fit compared to the France 98 team, but if we start that argument here now, may folks will just write off the current defenders compared to the defenders we had then. phew

What's the purpose of a defender ❓To stop you from scoring essentially, the question ⁉️ is have they succeeded. 1 goal 🥅 in 5 games , what do you think 🧐
perhaps you did not read it so I will repeat myself. he was free to miss 5 big chances, had 1 big chance saved and had two goals disallowed. In what universe does the "he was stopped from scoring" excuse makes sense based on these stats.

Their coach tried it numerous times but someone is always there to cover. Paserio is not a fool!
When Iwobi was tired cos of the overload he brought on Alhassan and Osimhen almost scored from his pre- pass!
It was a tactical master class from the two portugese!

This is the reason I don't take Nigeria sport journo serious.

Their lack of analytical mind is simply mind-boggling.

I remember calling out that Elegbete guy on Charles Anazodo X/tweeter space on the need for math to be a compulsory subject for journalism in Nigeria Universities. Charles said I was undermining them.

You can't talk about substitute role without recalling that a prime Ighalo kept Oshimen at the bench throughout Afcon 2019. If Ighalo could do that to Osimhen, imagine what Adriano and Crespo could have done to him.

the iwobi aspect is easy to see, he lost the ball that caused the goal against E-Guinea, and he also lost concentration causing the chance the Angolan had which hit the bar. Perhaps the reason the coach is playing him deep so the defenders can easily cover for him. No team is 100% perfect.

The South Africans too are not that technical which is where we will hit them with our more technical players. It's Nigeria's game to lose honestly

Quick question, do you think if Imobile played against the kind of defenders R9 played against, he would have better stats than R9?

They for be like Platini/Perez by now. But na peanuts dey move them. Imagine going to the streets to get boys and making great profit that benefits everyone with all legal paperwork and all? Will there be need to be "heyce, Matt, send me $2k. Rem i helped your career"?

I need more of Remo starts and Sporting Lagos. See Alukwu for example.

A key aspect of game theory and data analysis. No mind them.🤣

They forget this is why the job of video analyst is now a core sector of coaching crews nowadays. Those guys can use data and analyze great teams and how to hack them in minutes. They need to step up. Or na to tag them old school and let the younger ones take over.

This Obagoal argument sef.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Let's not forget that the officiating got better o. E get the kine size your thighs gats be if you want ball against their Gattuso and co that year. But many tackles that didn't warrant a whistle are currently red cards today. And let's not forget most of these tackles were on forwards as well.

The times are different o. Especially that serie A wey be like some Cartel football business that year.
